Brookdale

Our family had an in person tour and we liked the closeness of the community, everyone there was friendly and we did like that after two years if your loved ones money ran out they accepted Medicaid. However, the building itself looks very tired, everything from the carpets, furnishings and decorations need a revamp.

The cleanliness of the community is pretty good and the care services are pretty good as well. The meals and dining service overall is good but they could get a more diverse menu with different meal choices.

The activities and the food are great at this community. The cost is high but I know that my loved one is getting good care. I would for sure put this on your list of a community to check out for your loved one.

They have been pretty accommodating and provide good transportation to and from appointments. They've also been flexible with us during Covid. The staff are pretty attentive to my loved one and in general are good about helping her do things without getting irritated or annoyed. The food also looks quite nice.

Brookdale is a good place to live. Very clean, everyone working here is very nice and helpful. They have a lot of activities for us to do.

I would recommend it. There have been some challenges, but nothing that can't be fixed. When we've come to them with maintenance issues, we've had to wait around four days, which isn't too awfully bad. I like that they're very upfront with information and communication about Covid.

Living at Brookdale Highlands has improved my mother's mobility and outlook. She gets up and gets dressed and goes to eat, whereas she wasn't doing those things at home. The staff are very friendly, and they take very good care of my mother. There are two girls that come in the morning and make her bed, bring her breakfast, give her showers. They're just very sweet to her, and she likes them a lot. One area I would like to see improve is the food.

We really liked Brookdale and thought it was a nice facility. You do have to walk outside (under a covered area) to get from building to building and my mom was not the biggest fan of that idea. It was also a little pricier for the room size compared to others we looked into.

So far so good. My loved one has early onset Alzheimer's. So there are some tings I get a little concerned about, but I think they've been taking care of her very well. It's just that her dementia is getting worse, so it's hard for me to rely on her self report. But every time I've been there they've been wonderful. I know it's better than when she was living at home, which is a big plus. I like that she has a single room. And it's been very clean. Also, it never smells, even in her bathroom. Her bed is always made and looks nice, and she always looks nice and clean as well, which is very important to me.

We chose Brookdale Oak Hollow because of the location and it is a dedicated memory care facility which was a big plus for us. They have shared and private rooms available She has a shared room and it is working out very well, she has her own private closet but shares a bathroom and living space. The administrative staff have been amazing, when we were getting mom moved in [name removed] answered all our questions and in a timely manner, she was easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

The staff are really good. They made our intake job very easy. They set up my fathers room really good and I was happy with that. My loved one is a challenging patient and they take care of him well and do the best that they can, they are doing a great job.

This was a good community and a little more expensive than we wanted.

The staff are so very caring. No one is neglected here. Anybody that seems to have a shy nature or personality or who tends to be alone, I've noticed the staff pay special attention to them, try to get them to join in, and make sure they're not left out of anything. They give our rooms a thorough, deep cleaning once a week. And every day they sweep/mop and take out the trash. They knock on your door to see if you need anything at shift changes, and they introduce the next person coming on the shift. They truly want to know if there's anything they can do for you. We have monitors that we wear around our necks, so we can press a button for assistance. On the whole, they come within 10 minutes or less for a non-emergency. We've been without an activities director for a while, but we've had a new one now for about 3 weeks, and she's great. I think it's an excellent value here.

The staff is very friendly. They seem to be pretty responsive. It seems like our loved one is getting the care she needs, and we've not really had issues so far. Just a couple of little things. Her floor has been kind of sticky, not sure why. And it can smell like urine at times.

Brookdale has one of the best rooms available. They seem to be one of the best one's out there. Most other communities would get lower scores. There could be more salads and fresh vegetables available for the residents.

We have been very pleased so far with everything that is going on, even when we show up unannounced everything seems to be good. The staff members with their friendliness and community has been very good. We have no complaints with the care services so far they have done a great job regulating our loved ones medication. Over on the assisted living side they do some really neat activities like ice cream socials, but on the memory care side it is a little bit more limited.
