Brookdale

Well I live in AL and my wife lives in memory care. Its a good place to live since they can help you with all sorts of care levels.

There is some very nice workers here. They seem to know what there doing. They are always there for me and my dog.

My mother and father came to this community a year and a half ago and since my father passed away. Before he passed he expressed this place is "top notch". I did have an issue with my mother escaping the facility. At this point I Iearned there are no cameras which is concerning. They've done a sufficient job of making sure she's accounted for but I would still like to see cameras installed.

Enjoyable activities, good variety of things to do. Good food, good selection of veggies. Housekeeping is done very well, very clean, no0 odors. For the most part very kind, caring staff. Always helpful room is comfortable.

This is definitely a place that I would recommend for your loved one. The staff are very friendly however, they do not follow through very quickly when given a request.

This community was fine and would have worked out for my loved one. I did not have any complaints at all but there was just a different community that gave me that right vibe that I was looking for.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice tour but our loved one wanted more of an independent environment and Brookdale Hixson felt more like a nursing home

This is a wonderful community. They are cost effective also they are not charging an arm and a leg like some of the other communities are. I would recommend this community it is a great place. You would enjoy yourself at this community. My whole family has been there and they all love it.

It is a nice community

When I go to visit I meet a lot of the new residents and they all seem to be getting good care and are satisfied. The prices have increased quite dramatically since she has been here. The administrative staff when I go in do give me a break down of all the charges and explain it to me. It has met the quality of care that we were looking for and we would recommend them.

The community was okay but it was not really what I was looking for for my loved one and the location was further out. It was not a bad tour just not what I was really looking for.

I would recommend this community. After speaking with other families that have been there for a while and the residents all of them spoke highly of this community. This would be my first choice to start with if you are looking. My sister stated that there was a new person that came in and was very distraught and did not want to be there. My loved one told her to look around and said none of us want to be here but if i have to be some place this is where i want to be.

We and my father really appreciate the care and attention. They have given to [name removed]. On several occasions. We have had to call and speak with {name removed} and she always gets back and is very helpful. My fathers care giver {name removed} are always very friendly to my father. Also {name removed} was very helpful in setting up my fathers care.

We chose Brookdale Medi Park West because they allow smoking and have a place set up for it. The apartment sizes here are very decent. I think they could improve on the weekly room cleanings. I do wish that they could encourage residents more to participate in activities provided.

When we first toured at Brookdale, my loved one wasn’t satisfied with the room. She thought it was too small. But later on after touring more places, she found out that room size at Brookdale was pretty much the norm. In the end, they didn't have an option for Medicaid spend down, so it wasn't something that would have been financially feasible for our family.

Taking everything into consideration, I think it's a little expensive. I've been a little disappointed in the care. I understand that it's a really hard job, and I know that it's hard to get and keep help right now, so I don't really blame them. It just doesn't seem like they have enough help. I've had to wait a really long time after pressing the call button to get help. And it's hard to be let in when you come to visit because the help is so sparse. Things continually get lost, but I don't know that they can help that with Alzheimer's' patients. They emphasize that they have a lot of training and know how to manage Alzheimer's, and I've been disappointed that that's not necessarily the case. Some of the staff don't approach my loved on in a way that's effective, but there are some who are very good with him, and I greatly appreciate their efforts and approach. The staff on the management level have been nice. I think everybody is doing the best they can. The woman who is in charge of activates is nice and enthusiastic, and makes a good effort. The facility looks nice, and they have an outside area that's a real bonus and means a lot to my loved one, who likes to be outside. They also try to involve people and not just let them wander around. They actually direct them to where other people are and encourage them to interact. And watching the staff deal with other people, they seem to be very kind. The nurse, patient care coordinator, and everyone at that level of management has been very nice and considerate.

This community was very nice but for the cost there was another community that caught our attention that worked out better for my loved one.
