The community is very clean and does not have that nursing home smell and her room felt very cozy right away, and has a little kitchenette which she really enjoys. The staff members are very friendly and they have wonderful people there. However the food is very mundane, the meals could improve and have a more balanced diet. Also the activities are still pretty limited and we wish they would encourage our loved one more to get our and about.

Overall, I think Mom had pretty good care. I think if your family member is independent, the care is much better. The more independent they are, the better the care is. I would say about 75% of the staff did a great job. Like every other place right now, they're understaffed. I have not tried the food, but the food I saw served to Mom always looked really good. And they seemed to have a lot of activities.

It's been a difficult year for us who have had family members in a care facility on total lockdown-no visitors. But despite my anger and frustration for my mom I feel the staff at Brookdale South did the best they were able to see that we stayed in contact with family. I applaud them all for being there when I couldn't.

It's a beautiful place with excellent care. The residents have to choose to participate, obviously. I know they encourage my parents to come to things, but maybe not enough. Although I understand that one of my loved ones in particular can be difficult when it comes to that. The activities they do offer are great. I'm very happy with the staff. There are certain ones that just really go above and beyond, and I think the staff are pretty wonderful. I just wish there were more food choices. You either eat what they serve, or you can get a sandwich.
