I received some caretakers that didn't speak English, a couple that didn't want to work, a few that didn't know how to help me out of the shower, but I have had a few good as well, they speak English and understand multi tasking

We engaged ComforCare to assist my mother with in home care in [date removed]. The individuals we met with from the marketing and onboarding team were all very friendly and accommodating. However, we did learn the organization is small and seems to be operating in startup mode. The number of caregivers was limited and we went through at least 10 different care givers for various reasons (none of which related to us). There were issues with cars, personal situations, illness, child care, etc. We spent too much time understanding "how the sausage was made". Additionally, the billing process leaves something to be desired, amounts and rates were more wrong than right and even the name of the company is not properly listed on the invoice. As I write this today, two months later, things have stabilized and my mother is getting appropriate care. My ratings are a combination of where we came from and where we are, with where we are contributing to better ratings than where we began.

After I contacted A Place for Mom I was contacted by a host of businesses. All were more expensive than I could afford. I used a neighborhood link and found a companion at half the cost. I’m sure you can use this service as advertised.

Interview was nice, money was clear but they never gave me a non-Hispanic companion. I rejected this and did not want to continue on the schedule that I created. I cancelled as not in the best conditions for me. The neighborhood has layers of Hispanic presence, and I said I picked up NO issues.

I would not recommend this agency for anyone.

The lady that comes here likes to knit/crochet whatever it is that she does. Which gives me concerns of how she may help my loved one when she’s busy doing her stuff. She is very friendly and likes our pets.

Im sorry but although the caregiver was fine the management and any communication was lax and in fact the last voicemail backed by an email was never returned! Once they got my credit card it was a free for all… extra hours, no phone call and I was charged almost double time for a few hours on christmas eve. I was never told that was extra until I was billed. I did ask for a refund. No response. I've worked my whole life and never got time and half or double time for working the day before Christmas! I was never told about a charge for a nurse. I was told a nurse would visit but I thought it came with the service. [name removed] would never call me. She would only text in response to questions even after calling the office to speak with a person. It would take her 4 days to call. I would not use this service again unless [name removed] were fired and someone with some customer service skills were hired.

High turnover rate in the beginning of service. At one point 8 caregivers in 7 months

Our experience started well but we were dropped on a Friday afternoon and left with no help over the weekend. I had to scramble to find someone quickly. Senior Helpers was not willing to work with us to deal with an issue and just dropped us without notice.

Had other issues as well, although my sister is not the easiest of clients. Some of the staff has handled it well though. Billing problems are caused by the new electronic billing company and their fees are outrageous.

Hard time finding weekend help.. they seemed to have a shortage of personal to replace sickness .They are willing to take to appointment. They offer advice... Seems to care about Mom... I wish that instead of doing everything for her they would encourage her to do it herself .. to exercise and to walk around to do puzzles or ways to stimulated the mind

The agency had sold its business at this review. Struggle to match staff to client medical, psychosocial needs was difficult, but they persevered w prompt access n coverage. Family/ proxy services needed to be ready to detail extensively client communication expectations as the extent of agency upfront assesssmnt and preparedness for extent of clinical supervision of staff and Case management coordination seemed needed. Changes in the staff payment and agency transition was not communicated. However , they readily offered more cost saving ways to manage agency care and provided billing reports to the long term care provider upon request. The struggle managing a client across physical and behavioral systems of care and the strategic training and supervision of home care staff and family / advocates as team partners seems acute. Our loved ones are at high risk. This agency did not survive. Families , ombudsmen preparedness is critical.

My experience with [names removed] at senior helpers of Costa mesa was good. They worked really hard to find 2 caregivers for my husband and his special care needs. He is dependent on others for his everyday needs. He is a partial paraplegic. After 3 months they were unable to find anyone to care for him in a manner that he use to. So I had to cancel the service. The only way they would care for him if he was in a hospital bed, use a Hoyer lift to take him from the bed to the bathroom. Our bathroom was too small to do that. I would not recommend them with people that have the care requirements my husband has. So with that said I had to find someone that was willing to care for him to his liking.

My care giver is excellent. She is compassionate but she doesn't hover. We have a lot of things in common, e.g. houseplants and animals. In other words, we're a good fit! I think it helps that she is also a senior so she can relate to how I'm feeling, both physically and emotionally.

Assisting hands used a lot of young caregivers that was caring for my wife. They used my note pad and left unusual messages left on the table. Light cleaning was neglected and didn’t tidy up things that my wife made a mess with.

I would sometimes receive notification or change of plans kind of last minute. Selina was amazing and truly cares about people and patients, she really, always looked for ways to make things work but we were just getting bad fits for my husband. I understand we're in a particular and complex situation with him still being somehow young and active but I don't believe this service is a good fit for our situation in general.

Not always reliable and some of the caregivers don't do much. I need a dependable company to care for my mom who is bedridden a lot. Can't depend on the caregivers to show up sometimes to the point where I am ready to look for a new company. They are there four hours in the morning and 4 hours at night. There is not a lot to do but the few things they could be doing goes undone sometimes. I feel like they are probably on their phone when she is sleeping.

My parents have passed away so this is based on my past experience. Some staff were kind and knowledgeable. Others were borderline negligent, not changing catheter bags at the end of shifts or not being thorough with cleaning after bowel movements. Some interacted with my dad and seemed to respect him as a person as his mental faculties were fine. Others hung out in the kitchen and weren't even in ear shot when he called. My mom who was in a wheelchair had to go into the kitchen to tell the caregiver my dad needed help.

I would not use this agency again. Out of the 4 caregivers they sent to me, 2 of the 4 quit without any explanation, and they were people they found @ the last moment. On the last one, they tried to increase the amount charged to me. DO NOT USE.

The first caregiver was not suited to effectively assist my spouse/her client regarding his dementia. Second caregiver has just begun and seems more in tune with my spouse's needs and wishes. CareCo manager professionally handle this situation.
