Brookdale

[name removed] was very helpful and gave a thorough explanation of their facility. I was impressed with the public areas and the activities but felt the rooms were too small for our situation. I was particularly disappointed with the pictures we saw of the bathroom. I really think the sink need some counter around it.

Our tour was good. We were hoping our loved one would go here. We liked the location, and the people were pretty nice. The rooms looked good. But when it came time to move, we couldn't get her in. They had shut down move-ins for new residents due to Covid.

Our family had a virtual experience and we really enjoyed it. We thought the people we talked to did a great job with communicating with our family

The community itself is very clean, but when it comes to the small detail of things that could use some help. The staff members have been great, and sometimes the meals are very good, sometimes they are served cold so it can be a hit or miss. So far it has been a good experience for our loved one. However they are having a problem with their exterior security system. When we take our loved one out to breakfast or dinner they have to wait for someone to let them in. We found out weeks later that the buzzer you push to notify someone to let you in had not been working, so our loved one would sometimes have to wait 20-30 minutes to be let in.

I don't want to live anywhere else! We're treated as individuals and feel special - the staff calls us by name and makes the effort to connect with us. The food is the best, much better than I expected. The kitchen staff considers our needs and our desires. We don't even have to ask, they remember! The atmosphere is lovely. The new décor is a classy look. The only reason I didn't vie 5 stars is I don't believe anything is perfect.

Brookdale was a smaller community. The people were nice. The community was a little over priced for us.

I think it is a good place. The staff are good and responsive. The room is very nice. It is close to shopping centers, if your loved one need these amenities. One thing I would change is I would like it to cost less.

I would encourage people to come visit. I looked at a lot of other places and chose Brookdale. We've had a positive experience overall. They've been good to my loved one, and I'm happy with the treatment she's getting. I haven't heard of any places that are better, but I've heard of others that are worse. I feel like they have enough activities overall, but maybe not for her more advanced class of dementia. I feel like they're definitely making an effort with her, and the activities that she does participate in, they help her out and encourage her. I think smaller, more social groups of 2-3 people could be beneficial, but I understand that involves more employees and more cost. But she has a smile on her face most of the time. That's all I can expect, that she's happy. I feel they're in the ballpark and comparable to the cost of other communities.

They're very friendly. I think the staff is good about getting to know each resident. The food is good. They do a pretty good job to offer a variety of dishes, and the flavor profile and preparation is good. They also offer lots of alternative choices, more per day than I've seen at other places. As far as the extra care services, I feel like you have to be extra vigilant to make sure your loved one's care plan is implemented the way you want it to be. Consistency has been lacking lately. Sometimes it's been difficult to get in contact with the overseeing nurse to rectify any issues. Right now I'm not even getting a response from her. It might have something to do with the fact that they haven't had an active director as of the last couple of weeks. But nevertheless, I've been struggling because there's no alternative contact person.

Maybe a little older facility but clean and kept up. Residents were playing bingo and they also looked clean and cared for. Would consider facility if I can not find something closer to my home. It’s pretty far from my home and it takes even more time going in towards Houston with traffic and all.

During the pandemic they had to work on somethings to get them straightened out, but overall our experience has been great so far. The staff members are very accommodating, helpful and respectful. We have been very pleased so far, and our loved one says the meals are very good. The activities are no longer restricted, they are not taking them out and about yet, but they have a bunch of in house activities to offer.

It was very complicated when our loved one was there, due to Covid. I would want to know more about the menu, for instance if they're offering the memory care residents the same options as the assisted living side. It looked like my loved one was being semi-entertained with the activities. They would take little snippet videos, little 10-second looks at art class or a sing-along, or her playing ball, and send those to me, along with pictures. And I thought that was very nice. I thought the activities they were offering were good, but they were greatly reduced due to Covid. I liked that everything was kept very clean, and the people appeared nice.

We chose Brookdale Hattiesburg because the price was the cheapest that we were able to find. The room sizes here are very nice. They did have quite a few activities provided for the residents but my loved one did not participate. The covid virus was going on while she was here, so there was not a lot of freedom. Overall though, I think if they improved the food and the care it would be worth the money.

I would like to see the food improve and more seasoning used. The community is neat and clean and the staff is very friendly. The also have activities for the residents to participate in. I would recommend this community if your loved one is mobile.

I met with [name removed] who was very helpful in understanding the facility and next steps. I would have preferred an apartment or at least a one bedroom, but all they had available was a one-room suite. Overall, a nice place and has good potential. Very clean and the staff was extremely nice. Good price point.

The staff is very good and they keep the community very neat and clean. The staff is very friendly and they have activities for us to do but I would like to see more of a variety. I would recommend this community to others.

We did a virtual tour with Brookdale Madison West. We did not choose this facility because they did not have any 2 bedroom apartments available at the time which is what we needed and the price was higher.

Our family did a virtual tour, and while the tour experience was nice it was just still hard to get a good feel without having that hands on experience. The sale worker we spoke also had the activities director speak with us as well which was nice.

From what we are being told our loved one is eating very well there, so we have to assume the food is very good. The room our loved one is in is just the right size for him, and everything is easily accessible. Also he is able to have his own space and own privacy.

We toured Brookdale and it was a nice facility but it was smaller. There were also more women then men and we were looking for a facility that had a better ratio for my dad.
