Brookdale

The sales staff was great with getting her moved in here. They are always very positive, upbeat and helpful. The nursing staff here goes above and beyond. I think the lesser activities provided is just due to covid so it is difficult. I would recommend Brookdale Loma Linda to others looking.

although my loved one had a relatively short stay at Brookdale, we found it to be a good place. any place can be made better if you visit your loved one often.

I understand that my loved one has special needs regarding his level of care. we moved into this community knowing that I would be responsible for providing medical equipment, dressings and supplies. I specifically chose Brookdale because they assured me that they could handle my loved ones needs, but I found this to be untrue. in the beginning I had to make constant visits at various times to ensure my loved one was cared for properly. I frequently had to take matters into my own hands by not only instructing the nurses and staff on what to do, but by also caring for my loved one myself. they also need to hire more efficient weekend staff as I've come in on a Saturday or Sunday and saw that my loved one had not been changed out of their night clothing and hygiene had not been maintained. there were plenty of times when the medical equipment or supplies I brought in were leaking, missing or damaged somehow. I realize that good care givers can be hard to come by, but my loved one has been there long enough that some type of instruction should've been passed down. I truly believe that if it wasn't for my routinely visits and persistent requests, the lack of care would not have improved. It seems to be going better as they have assigned the same nurses and staff to my loved one; but I do still have some slightly reasonable concerns. I would advise others to keep an eye on them. at this time I am actively looking for another community for my loved one due to an ongoing issue with the accounting department. when we first moved in, they provided paperwork confirming that our payment would be taken out through automatic withdrawal. a couple months later, I asked why it had not been deducted yet and was told that it "takes time" and would be withdrawn the following month. shortly after that conversation, I received a form letter informing me that my account was past due and subject to a late fee if not paid within a certain time. this was extremely concerning, as I had been reassured that everything that was okay and had been idly waiting for them to take my payment. I certainly didn't want to be responsible for any fees, so I got a cashiers check and gave it to the office. about a week or so later I was still being told that my account was past due and that I had a balance of the wrong amount. I contacted their corporate office and thankfully the young lady found my payment and provided me with the correct updated information. however, the fact still remains that my account is behind because they failed to process my automatic payment, which in turn created a slew of events. it's very obvious to me that their billing/accounting department is very unorganized and does not know how to communicate effectively and accurately. I was willing to work with the issues regarding the care, but the billing mix up was completely unacceptable. I like the nursing staff that I've come in contact with. [name removed] in sales was delightful to work with and the concierge's [names removed] are super nice as well. there are just some questionable aspects of having my loved one here; and I'm just not pleased with how they handled my account.

They are reasonably priced with nice staff. They can be a little disorganized at the administrative level. The staff are very helpful in answering questions or concerns the family may have. The memory care unit has one choice of food, very few condiments, and not as much volume to the food. They also have better activities for the residents in assisted living.

Overall I have been very satisfied with this community for my loved one. For the money I am getting a great service. They are extremely friendly and he is happy here. I would recommend this community for you or loved one.

the staff at Brookdale are great and very informative. they promote friendliness and encourage a mutual awareness of your loved ones needs. when i've visited Brookdale, the residents are always interacting in engaging activities and seem to be enjoying themselves. this community is on the expensive side, but i can not undervalue my gratitude and the level of care my loved one is receiving here. i feel comfortable knowing my loved one is being cared for here, as there is a sense of collaboration between the families and Brookdale. my loved one adjusted very well into the Brookdale family and i would recommend this community to anyone looking.

We thought Brookdale Kerrville was a really nice place. They were very friendly and helpful. They were our 1st choice, but we had a unique situation with multiple pets that was hard to find an accommodation for. And they were also outside of our budget.

The impression we got from the staff right away was just how kind, friendly, gentle, patient and observant they were towards our loved one. The value for this community at the time was priceless for us.

Of course there is still frustrations around all the covid restrictions that are still in place, however our loved ones basic needs are being met and we are able to visit. The staff has been friendly and we do love the fact even though it is memory care, but we love the fact there are other people in this community with our loved one that is around the same stage she is in.

Our family had an in person tour and it is an older facility but the people we met with were very nice. However, it just did not seem very stimulating, all the staff kind of just pushed the residents in a wheelchair to the lobby but there was no real interaction. IT just did not seem as personable.

It's been a pretty good experience. The staff is nice. The place is clean. It's close to where we live, which is great. And the apartment is beautiful.

Our family had an in person tour and the lady we met with was extremely friendly, she showed us the entire facility and would engage with residents as we walked down the halls. It is very welcoming, but the distance was just to far away for us.

I would like you to know that the community is short staffed. They don't let the families know when there is a COVID outbreak in the community. There will be an email that will come eventually; however, they don't keep you informed on the progress of it all. The food is subpar. When there is enough staff, they will do trivia, games, exercise and more as some of the activities.

Everything I've seen so far makes me believe that they are taking good care of residents. This community may not be the same for everyone, but for me it's been a good experience. would recommend

The staff have been wonderful kind and friendly at this community. I would be happier if there was a nurse on staff 24/7. They have activities like memory exercises, music therapy and more for the residents to do.

We would recommend the Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes in Vernon Hills to other families.

We chose Brookdale Sherwood because the location was better for our family and we also really liked how friendly all of the staff members were. The room sizes were perfect for our needs. We did have an issue with the call button around the neck, my loved one fell out of his bed and called and no one ever came. We were also under the impression they were being checked on throughout the night which was not the case.
