Brookdale

We toured Brookdale Meadow Springs and they were very friendly. They showed us all of the rooms, the eating area, and the garden space in the back. It was a very nice tour. I liked them better than the Richland location. The staff here seemed more outgoing, in terms of how they were dealing with the residents. If we had to choose between the two, we would have chose Brookdale Meadow Springs. My mom decided that she'd prefer to stay home with in home care.

We toured Brookdale Richland and it was very nice. They waked us through everything; we saw the eating and living areas. They explained all the in's and out's of living there, as well as the different activities they had going on. My mom preferred to stay home with in home care.

I toured this community and it was great! The place is beautiful. The staff was very friendly. It's very clean and a gorgeous atmosphere. The rooms were smaller than some of the other places, but had a great view. The tour guide was outstanding and went above and beyond. So friendly and welcoming. They even sent us a flower/fruit basket after our tour. This was my first choice for my loved one, but she chose another place.

We had a pretty good tour experience with Brookdale Concord Parkway. We liked that it was a smaller community. At the time that we were looking, we found more negative reviews on this facility.

We had a good tour experience with Brookdale Carriage Club. The facility is very large - we were looking for a place that was smaller with less residents. It was also full at the time that we were looking so there were no openings.

The staff is very friendly and caring. We were very confused when we first got there, because no one really met us to introduce us to the team or tell us what would happen after we left our parents there. For days, they didn't know what was going on either, so I would tell others to ask questions.

Brookdale Sevierville is a really good community. The residents and my loved one have been complaining about the food lately. I haven't eaten there, so I don't know what's going on with the food. Other than that, they take good care of her. If you want your parent taken care of, it's a great place for them to be.

My mom is no longer there because she fell while there, and broke her femur in the same leg that she'd broken her hip the month before. The reason she isn't there is because the Florida guidelines for memory care require that you be able to stand on your own. Because of the break that happened there on their watch, she couldn't go back. I'm not sure I really think that's fair. I understand the law and they don't have a mechanical lift, so they can't lift you if you can't help. That's basically why she isn't there, but she was only there barely a month. I did also experience, while there, a large theft that they claimed to have investigated. I'm unsure if they did or not, but somebody stole right of my mothers ears, a [price removed] pair of earrings. I would want people to know that, it's not as trusting. You go into Brookdale of St. Augustine and you think it's beautiful, very well appointed, very well decorated and very nice. In fact, I'd say it's plush or posh, but the staff are not quite as dependable as the place gives you the impression. That happened within the first three days she was there, and I got a real sense of uneasiness. I felt she was being cared for. I liked that I requested and they allowed me to put a camera in my mothers room. I could watch it 24/7 if I wanted to, although I didn't. I typically watched during mealtimes and things like that, but I was pleased that they allowed me to do that. The supervisory staff - like the director, [name removed], marketing & sales people and the admissions director, they were very understanding and kind throughout the whole process, and as kind as they can be. They were all very very understanding and compassionate. It was just down to the nitty gritty of the CNAs' who actually worked with my mom, who weren't always the kindest. Overall, it was a good experience. It was a much shorter experience than I'd anticipated because I moved my mother in there with furniture and everything, and she only stayed less than a month, which was very discouraging. I had hope she'd be able to return after a stint in rehab, but she wasn't. She's now in a skilled nursing facility, and I was disappointed with A Place for Mom because they don't work with skilled nursing and I was kind of left on my own to figure out the next steps. I would, however, still recommend A Place for Mom to others.

We have had a great experience so far with Brookdale College Parkway. It has been a wonderful fit for my loved one. They are not there right now because of Hurricane Ian - so they had to evacuate and move to a different facility in Orlando. I thought the facility handled it all very well, I was super impressed with them.

I have lived at Brookdale for the last 7 months. I find all of the employees to be friendly and easy to talk to. They go out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. This is a great place to live.

Facility has met all my needs and concerns. My wife is in Memory Care Unit and has been cared for satisfactorily. All staff is friendly and helpful. Administrative staff has been very informative and follows up on requests.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I also recommend you make sure the community will be able to meet your care expectations for your loved one. There are three meals a day served to the residents and they have choices to choose from. The staff will bring meals to our loved one's room if they ask for it. There is a place in the dining room for the family to join our loved one for meals. Some of the activities include bingo, outside entertainment, field trips, and more for the residents to engage with. The community allows pets and a specific time in the lobby for other residents to see the pets of the community.

I really like this community. It's not perfect, of course. No place is. But it's absolutely the best place/right place for my parents. It feels more like a home and a family atmosphere than any other place that I toured. When I visit, staff and visitors are always present and out and about. I'm not only greeted by the staff, but also by the residents. Everyone knows each other here. The common areas are always clean. I feel like housekeeping of their apartment could improve. Communication is ok. They're good about communicating urgent things. The not so urgent, but still important things, I tend to hear from my dad on and not the staff. I will say, if I call or ask questions they're great about answering me. Just not as proactive to reach out about things. I'm not sure others who don't talk to their loved one's daily would be happy with the level of communication, but it works out for us. Overall, I love the staff, they're all great. I've never seen them be less than wonderful with anyone, residents or visitors. The food is very good. My only issue is how they handle special diets (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc). They don't give meal details to help residents understand what they're eating and if it's good for their diet needs. I'd really like to see that improve. They offer a good variety of activities and outings. Overall, I would recommend them to family and friends.

I toured this facility and it was nice. Clean, well kept grounds, 2 big common areas and a fireplace. It was very nice! However, the memory care unit was on the third floor and not ideal for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and even though the staff were very informative and courteous it was just not going to fit our loved ones needs.

Just like every other place right now they are short staffed which we do not blame them for, we do like and appreciate just how much try to encourage our loved one to get involved with things.

Brookdale has been a very good place for my mom. I would describe their staff as friendly, but their communication could be better. I sometimes have a hard time knowing who to contact for what needs my mom has. I would recommend Brookdale Burlington to others. They're pretty good, and much better than the other place she lived at.

I think their process of putting down a deposit and a community fee and first months rent, is all very confusing. I think people need to ask a lot of questions and get clarification. In general, once my dad moved in, his experience with the staff has been so overwhelmingly positive. Once we put down our deposit and made the decision to go there, the sales people hand you over to the next people you work with long-term, and they are great. The staff at Brookdale, my dad really can't say enough good things about. They offer a ton of activities, and it's taken him a little while because his most important thing was getting doctor appointments made and his bank account set up. He really likes that there is a Catholic communion once a week, and he started using the indoor pool for water aerobics. They have happy hour every Wednesday and he'll go to part of that. He hasn't gotten involved in things like game nights, and more social friendly gatherings. He hasn't quite done that, but I think he's getting there. My dad is in a large one bedroom apartment, and it was completely renovated prior to him moving in. He went from a four bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment - but we've divided his bedroom into half his bedroom and half his office area with a desk and a computer. He has a really nice sized bathroom, fully equipped with guard rails to make sure he's safe. He has tons of storage space, and a nice outside patio. It has a fully functioning kitchen that he hasn't really had to use because he loves the food. He was kind of withering away and his weight was a big concern, but he's put on about 7lbs since he's been there and that's a really big thing. I would recommend Brookdale to others. I visited 11 places before making the decision; far and away, Brookdale was the best facility for the money and I think the care services are great. The medical care he receives onsite are great; he sees a physician's assistant and she will come to his apartment for appointments. If he needs any lab work they will come to his apartment to draw blood and so forth. He's starting to take the shuttle to attend his urologists and cardio appointments. They helped him find new doctors, where he can take the shuttle. The driver will take him and pick him back up - they facilitate that. My dad came from a small town in New Mexico where health care was not good, so that is a really huge aspect. I would recommend Brookdale Gaines Ranch to anybody. Brookdale has given me and my sisters such a since of relief because we were constantly worried about dad living alone in a four bedroom house, and it's the best place for my dad!
