Brookdale

My added thoughts: For the first 2 months my mom felt pretty lost. She wasn't acclimated to her new environment very well. It took many conversations to get the management to understand this. But then they kicked in and have done a good job. It was the little stuff, like where to go for what, who was taking her to the dining room and what time, when she should press her button for assistance, etc. The staff is wonderful. Very kind and helpful to my mom. They do a great job with cleaning, laundry and helping mom with personal needs. Lots of very nice residents and their pets as well. I don't eat there so can't comment too much on dining but mom doesn't complain so must be fine. Only two things that I can say that could use some attention and those are communication between the different departments and one of the receptionists would probably be better in a different position, behind the scenes.

It looked friendly. The residents were engaged with the activites. It was an older community, which needed some updating. Overall, the tour guide was great.

It is an excellent place. They are fine, has a nice refrigerator. The bathroom is excellent. Heat~AC is individually controlled. I would recommend to others.

What we really like about Brookdale Burlington is that the staff are friendly, professional and responsive to needs. We would recommend Brookdale Burlington to other families who are looking at communities for their loved one.

The weekends do not have main staff members available. I asked who the manager in charge was and the receptionist said it was her.

The only complaint is they have poor communication skills, between the staff members due to supervisors. If a person is off, they don't have someone in place to help my loved one unless, my loved one has to get someone to assist her by calling front desk. The staff itself are kind people. They provide music, bingo and other activities

I would tell others looking into Brookdale Palma Sola to make sure you ask the right person to answer your questions or help with faxing information, etc. I still am not sure how to contact my sister's doctor although she has called me. Simple things are OK to ask the everyday aids. I would recommend this facility to other families.

We initially chose Brookdale St. Augustine over others we saw because of the size of the room my loved one would be able to get and the 24 hour nursing care on staff. I would tell others that they do not give scheduled showers. My loved one is supposed to get 3 a week and he only gets 2 usually. I also think the activities should include more entertainment.

I have been pleased with having my dad at Brookdale. I feel peace knowing he is taken care of.

There is room for improvement. But I feel my mom is safe and well taken care of. I would recommend to other families.

They have had some care staff turnover, but they do their best to care for mom. I really think it would be hard if we were not there so often or if we did not supplement their care with hospice services. They offer activites such as; Bingo, book club, trivia, outings,library, and volunteers deliver communion and stop in for a chat and prayer. They are easy to talk to so you can rectify any issues. They are not proactive in reporting issues they see, however. Mom seems to be finding her place, but it has taken nearly 4 months.

What we really like about Brookdale High Point is its very clean, but consistent care could be improved. However based on the experience we have had so far with this community we would recommend them to other families .

We are happy with the place overall. There needs to be more activity for individuals with vision impairments. The dining experience would be better with more staff and better selections for sides to meals. The nursing staff has been great transitioning dad to the assisted area. I understand they have overhead costs, but the price for what is provided is a bit high. Seniors who would benefit from being in a facility like this one are unable to be there because it is too expensive. We ourselves will be looking for another place if they raise the price again.

Good follow-through on repairs needed. Residence very friendly. Needs a bit of attention to vegetarian/vegan meal options.

They offer activities such as; Art, and Bingo. I had a rough experience getting her in. They kept charging her account when they promised a free month, so I don't necessarily appreciate their sales tactics. However, the care has been good so far, and my loved one is happy, and that's what is most important to me.

Ask about Medicaid qualifications. The place does NOT take Medicare. Get specifics on how they will take care of your loved one, and specifics on hourly services available. The apartments are nice, and there is no prob with the facilities. She never should have been accepted there but we had very little time for the initial evaluation.

My mother has only been there a very short time - she has actually been in the hospital and now rehab, so our experience has only been a few short weeks. But it is a beautiful facility, and the dining and brunch options are wonderful. The staff is friendly, and I expect the nursing care to be good too.

The minimum requirement for respite stay is 2 weeks for the first time. They said we might be able to do 1 week if we use them again. It was more expensive than other facilities that I looked at, but it was all on one level and less confusing for Mom to acclimate to. We were pleased with the care and would definitely consider using the facility again for Respite Care.

I had a good tour of Brookdale Hendersonville East, though the facility seemed a little 'dated' and 'expected.' They were informative, all general information covered. Cleanliness seemed okay.

It's a lot of bang for your buck. They can change/upgrade their carpeting....it's very worn & stained. Everything else is good. They have wonderful staff!! A special shout-out to[names removed} for being so helpful and knowledgeable.
