Brookdale

My sister is in Memory Care. I don't know what it's like in Assisted Living, it could be better, it could be worse. We chose this facility over others because of the cost...She had a limited budget and transferred from another Brookdale so no additional community fee. They also offered a 25% discount and the third month free rent.

My friend is very happy at Brookdale He has been there 3 months and loves it. The help is great, he is happy.

Staff very in to making sure everyone stays busy and entertained. Very friendly atmosphere which is why I chose Brookdale. Not stuffy, folks genuinely looking out for each other. Apartments kept clean and user friendly. Good food always available. Just feels right when I go there .

Staff is friendly but doesn't seem to give the additional care that we pay extra for. They encourage residents to stay independent.

I felt that their after surgery care was a concern. My friend had just had a surgery to repair his broken hip and it was understood that he was going to require extra care. However there were no additional accommodations to support his immediate needs when returning from the hospital. They didn't have a pad available for a fall from bed. On his return to the facility he fell out of bed. Quickly after there was mattress pad that was placed, but the fall happened. The evening staff didn't seem to have any additional information on his status until I informed .

My current home comes with cheerful competent staff that provide 3 meals a day and house keeping.

It is a very homey environment. When you walk in you are greeted by a large fireplace. You are you are treated like family by the staff. Brookdale is small enough that every resident is treated "special" according to their needs or abilities . The food is excellent and. The nursing staff is attentive, but of course, there are always some that don't quite do what they supposed to do, but if you tell them they will step up. My sister has declined in the last 6 months and is confined to a wheelchair and is incontinent. She also has dementia. She is receiving very good care.

Staff is friendly. Place is clean. I always feel a good vibe when I visit. My mom sometimes complains that the food is too salty, but she has dementia, so it may be a part of the disease (to complain) something to note regardless, to help keep blood pressure down in residents. The consistent price increases in rent seem excessive please do your best to a minimum so we don't run through my family's retirement money. Thx

I like how friendly everyone is like family. I wish there were move activities. I wish the carpets were cleaned more often. I wish the food was more "clean" healthier.

Bring here 2 1/2 years. Leaving to weeks to be with family. Great place, loved being here. Sad to go.

We have found staff to be very friendly and patient with mom. A more intentional orientation to the facility and process with mom and family when she moved in would have been more helpful. Felt like for the first month or so we were piece mealing process together with many questions as we went.

All lovely, good people. Communication between caregivers, med techs, nurse admin, home health and Mom's GP needs to be better coordinated. We often ask questions or communicate concerns or info to nurse admin, but it does not reach others who need to know.

We have had a wonderful experience for the past five plus years in both independent and assisted living. I recommend this faculty 100%.

What we like the most about Brookdale Southside is everything. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far, unless they need Gourmet food

The LPN in charge of nursing and the caregivers, [name removed] is excellent, as is the activity director. Most of the caregivers were very kind and caring, but they need more caregivers. They were often short staffed, especially on weekends. The clients rooms are small and could be kept cleaner, but their philosophy is that the client residents should be out of their rooms and busy with activities and walking around most of the day. It is a very open plan, and residents are free to roam any and all of the many hallways and common areas. They are also able to go outside with supervision. They have beautiful grounds which are fairly large, with elevated flower/vegetable gardens who enjoy that.

They have a very nice and welcoming staff who will call and keep me updated as to how things are going! They are also very knowledgeable and caring towards my dad and support him, which we appreciate!

The staff makes the facility a pleasant experience. I do wish it was cheaper, my rent is almost $[fee removed] a month.
