Brookdale

Recently toured this facility. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Staff knew all the residents by their first name which I liked. Nice small location. Plenty of activities for residents.

What we like the most about the community is that it is not to big, parents received personal attention from residents and staff, and the nice common areas.

The facility looked in generally good condition. There were renovations taking place when I visited. The marketing director was very helpful in answering my questions.

Everything was fine with the tour. I’m a bit worried since our intake appointment was cancelled. I will have to continue to look just in case. As the caregiver I’m getting overwhelmed with my job and everything else.

It was fine. I didn’t like that. It was on a busy corner and it felt a little bit more like an institution than a home. The rooms were a nice size. It was clean, but didn’t feel cozy. The entrance was pretty sterile. I don’t feel like it’s the right place for my mom.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff and we met many happy residents on our tour. A safe, clean and homey environment will be our determining factor in choosing a new home for our brother in need of 24 hour memory care. Thank you for the recommendation.

Over all experience is probably a 4. The nursing staff is very caring and dedicated and would probably get a 5. The medical assistants are also almost uniformly excellent, with a couple of exceptions. Overall, they would probably get a 4. The dining room is good, and my Dad has gained weight since he's been there. He says the food is usually good, with occasional exceptions. Timeliness in the dining room can be inconsistent. Dad says breakfast is usually around 30 minutes late, although Wednesday this week was on time. He usually feels rushed for dinner, and assumes that's because the kitchen staff wants to leave. The dining room would probably be a 4 overall, with the food being a 4 and the timeliness a 3. The facility is older and a little worn in places, but seems to be clean. We are thankful Dad lives on the first floor because the elevator was periodically out of order for the first month or so that they lived there, not a good situation for senior residents. The apartment size is OK, about average compared to the others we visited. Overall, the facility would probably rate a 4.

Things were a little uncoordinated. I kept calling to give them status of when she would arrive. Then when she did, they didn't really all seem to be on the same page. Service is pretty good though.

The nursing staff is great.

Staff is very kind and makes Mom feel special , for example gifts or cards for birthday and holiday. Only issues have been lost laundry and no caffeinated coffee. Space is small but we knew that going in. Overall she's happy and it's so much better than where she was.

Monday through Friday the activities are great, but there is nothing available on the weekends. The staff are caring and the food is good. Yes, I would recommend Brookdale Hixson to other families based on the experience.

I believe that the staff and care has improved since last March. They have always provided good care to my mom but now it seems they go above and beyond. So much so that she believes she works in the dining room and they let her set the tables for meals and assist when she asks.

Staff is very good, helpful, friendly and responsive to resident concerns. Dining service manager is rigid regarding seating. Facility housekeeping could be improved ie hallway carpeting and elevator flooring. I would choose to reside here again The transportation is invaluable The people make the place. Engagement activities are WONDERFUL Too much secrets surrounding administrative decisions. Director is available however can present as closed to new or. Different ideas

It's small, most of the staff are excellent. There's always one who could use work, of course. All in all I'd say the food is quite adequate and the service is fine. I love my apartment – enough space for everything. Activities for some are a problem. I'm happy to have time in my room for reading and films. I guess I don't expect much – my apartment is cleaned once a week, but I do need to dust up stuff.

The management, nursing and day staff are awesome, the evening staff - sometimes you need to follow up when asking for a welfare check. Mom has enjoyed the activities once she got involved. Food is good, although there has been turnover so it has fluctuated. The place is good and her room apartment is decent size. Her room is often used during tours.

Activities and building upkeep could be improved. I thought the staff was all excellent from the beginning and haven't heard differently from my dad.

My brother and I visited Brookdale while trying to figure out our mother's care and needs. Her condition deteriorated rapidly after the visit so we kept her at home on hospice. Brookdale is a lovely facility that I would recommend to anyone interested in assisted living.

The staff at the community are great and yes we would recommend Brookdale Hollywood Park to other families based on the experience so far.

Very caring staff, especially the nurses and health aides. Décor and cleanliness of public areas and dining room was great. Nothing negative stood out. I just remembered that guest parking was often a problem. Not enough spaces

Overall Brookdale is good. The food is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful inside and out . My only problem and it was a big one., My room was not clean when I moved in. The toilet was beyond filthy. AC and heating unit was filthy also. My room had a lot of minor problems that needed to be fixed. There was a lot of that. The maintenance and the cleaning crew could stand a lot of improvement. The vacuum cleaners really don't work at all. They need to be replaced.
