Brookdale

Unfortunately, I have a strong negative reaction to the “cool” blue lighting throughout the facility. You are not alone in not understanding the significance of this issue to me. I understand that the newer lights are used because the owner(s) made a financial decision to reduce electrical costs.

They had a room with furniture for him to occupy for short term stay. Definitely have to stay on top of staff to make sure things are getting done. Some things fell through the cracks for us especially around holidays.

I would rank Brookdale South Park a 4. It was the least institutional feeling facility of the six I toured. All of the staff knows all of the patients and seem friendly and engaged. There are daily activities to keep residents involved. The food seems to be good.

When I looked at Brookdale for my husband, [name removed], one of the things that really impressed me was the cleanliness of the facility. It was quite quite clean and that was very impressive to me. I am a retired registered nurse, and so that was important. the staff was very nice. I did feel like There weren't enough people taking care of the ones like my husband who had dementia and was very needy. He had his meals in his room. I think we ate once in the dining area. He was just very ill. He was only there for a little over three weeks before he passed away. And, the people that work there were very kind to him and respectful. I stayed with him during the day and as he got worse, I had a person come in from out side to be with him during the night and everything I felt was clean. I just wish that there were more people caring for the people that were as sick as he was I know that they were busy and so that's why I had someone come in at night and then I stayed with him during the day. Everyone that worked there that I dealt with was very nice and polite and seemed to be caring for the patients.

Brookdale and people who work there have been awesome. I made the right choice with ur help. People that care for her, a bigger room, better care, all the same drs, nurses & portable dental work there, less expensive, closer to my house. Win, win, win, win, win, win

Everything is good with them. I'd recommend to others.

She loves it as it is close by my house for quick attention. The staff is great & activities are available every day.

I have nothing but good things to say about Brookdale Folsom. Very caring, attentive staff helped my dad in his final days under hospice care. Very clean facility and would highly recommend.

They are hard to get ahold of and don't really listen to what you are saying. They have their own judgements and when you try to explain something I feel they don't care as it's a business decision to make money off your parent and not really about care. I would still recommend as my father in law likes it there.

4 across the board. It is a clean community and the staff is great. Yes, we would recommend Brookdale Sakonnet Bay to other families based on the experience so far.

I like mist that it is small and quiet. They could improve on more variety with the food. Also more staff needed to help explain things to the new patients.

Facility is older, but well kept and clean. Staff is very friendly! Always greeted our family members by name, which was very nice to see. There was confusion on our part once our family member moved in regarding who exactly owned her care. We were dealing with multiple contacts, and there never seemed to be one person we could deal directly with. Having said that, our situation was probably somewhat unique. Our family member was showing signs of memory loss/dementia but had no official diagnosis. Hence was not immediately eligible for placement in the memory care program. So our family member started in independent living but then transferred to the memory care program after 2.5 weeks. She struggles in independent living but is doing great now in the memory care unit.

Brookdale is nice. They have all the amenities that you would want, dining room, service for food 3x per day, transportation, cleaning once a week, library, art classes, TV room, no gym, no pool. ROOMS:The rooms are around 600 ft.² which is very small and seemed to be cut up by walls. However, the people who are running the place are really nice and very cordial. There’s a small kitchen area. No oven, but there is a stove top. A small refrigerator, also they said they could probably put it in a microwave for the counter. MEALS:They do have sugar-free cookies and ice cream for diabetic such as myself… that is important. I had fish for lunch. It was very tasty and the broccoli was cooked perfectly al dente. Servers are quick and very polite. Basically they’ll give you what you want to eat, but you do have two main choices prepared to choose from per meal. They do a wellcheck on you if you don’t come to two meals, they prefer you eat in the dining room.

I personally felt like they were genuine and had my mom's best interest in hand. Ask lot's of questions. And trust your gut. My mom is doing great there. The activities offered are just kind of bland. Bingo with automated system I just feel like there could be a little bit more a change up I don't know I just feel like it could be better.

Brookdale is a serious Lock-Down Dementia/Alzheimer's Facility in which (1) in 2024, most patients seemed to lack minimal ability to join in activities, and (2) the staff had a difficult time controlling unacceptable behavior between patients. If your loved one doesn't need this level of care, keep looking for a perfect match. The better you are at matching your loved one's condition to that of the majority of other patients in the facility, the better time everyone will have. If your loved one's functional ability is far better (or worse) than everyone else's, the effects of the imbalance will be painful to witness, especially to you, the responsible party, and to other family members, standing by helplessly as the tragedy unfolds, ever so slowly day by day.

We toured both independent and assisted living rooms. The layouts of both were good and would be workable for Mom. The overall building was huge and seemed like a maze. Also, the whole place had a feeling of being "dated" in appearance. Even so it seemed clean and well maintained. The sales counselor was very helpful and provided us with a sufficient amount of information to give us the mean to make a decision on whether to have Mom come stay at Brookside Kettering.

Nice place, friendly people. Fun entertainment activities. Decent food. Most residents are older, need more assistance than typical assisted living. Slow response time for assisting residents when in need of bathroom help, personal hygiene assistance, or getting wheelchair transport assistance. Exercise programming could use additional options like tai chi and chair yoga.

A clean, well kept facility. The dining room has exceptional food and services. Residents seemed happy and comfortable. The only complaint I have is that residents were expected to do all their self care and we were told that staff would assist with this. You need to be independent to reside here.

My mom is so happy there. She has so many friends and the staff is amazing. Unbelievable kind and loving. Very clean as well. She said the food is really bad and poor quality and they have stopped the transport bus for Dr visits.

The friendliness here is great. Since moving in I have made friends and get to enjoy the puzzle nook with my neighbors. I enjoy how quickly things get done when I asked.
