Brookdale

The people are committed and great. The apartments are nice. The town is great. Food was ok. But to be fair my Aunt didn't eat much. Was very picky. The area were always clean and it seemed activity was high. Residents who I bumped into seemed very happy.

The tastes of Trillium was excellent. The facility is excellent for independent living however did not have the same excitement for assisted living. Was disappointed they showed us a unit before it was ready - someone was just moving out and it needed completely refurbished ( new carpet, painting and kitchen countertops needed replaced. I think for independent great / however not assisted.

I enjoyed the tour of Brookdale Cushing Park led by[name removed]. The was construction going on at the time I was there. Although I didn't get to see a furnished two bedroom apartment, I did see the apartment [name removed]was using as an office. I loved the lobby and coming spaces. The tour was professional and friendly.

When mom was in independent living it was great and then she was moved to assisted living it was going okay until she couldn't get to the bathroom by herself and was wearing pull-up diapers they should have been thrown out and the carpet should have been cleaned more often the place smelled like a zoo and I had family members complaining all the time it was exhausting.

Costs are lower than other facilities, but some amenities are not as good such as meals, activities. Staff does care. Would recommend to others who have a budget. Facilities, rooms are nice, well maintained, just needs to give residents better food and more things to do.

They need more activity. Staff is friendly but people tend to stay on their rooms.

The food is not designed for anyone that is Type 2 diabetic. Unfortunately, no place is designed for that. It fosters higher blood sugars. I still consider it the next best thing to having my mom in my home.

They were very kind and very helpful every step of the way. I would also like to add that they were very ambiguous on the actual cost of care and nursing. Even when direct questions were asked, the answers were not directly addressed and confusing. They care has been amazing, but the cost is significantly higher than that disclosed before signing up.

Friendly staff, variety of activities, good food. I would recommend to others.

They are short staffed so it's a waiting game sometimes for my loved one and I am unsure about the value for cost. My loved one likes her living space, patio and staff. They could improve on food, for instance they only serve white bread. Also, they need to hire more staff.

Staff is kind and friendly. It is clean and nicely decorated. Dining room service is usually slow. Food is ok. I like my apartment...roomy and bright. Pets allowed.

My aunt who is a resident likes the food! Yes, we would recommend this community to others, with limited info since I have not actually been to the facility.

I liked all that Brookdale offers. The only downside was the smell of the hallways. Possibly what is used to clean the carpets and deodorize the air? Not a smell I like.

Overall, we have absolutely loved the smaller size of this facility compared to larger ones. For someone who wasn't really ready for memory care yet, it's been comforting to know she sees the same people more often and benefits from a better staff-to-resident ratio. The staff has been amazing in helping my mother-in-law get settled and acclimated. She was very angry and upset about having to move into an ALF, feeling she was too young at 75 and still physically healthy. Unfortunately, Alzheimer's made it too difficult for her to live alone any longer, especially since she lived in a rural area with support being difficult to obtain. The staff does a wonderful job meeting her where she is - for example, she introduces me every time I visit, even though I come at least once a week - and they consistently contact me if there are any concerns. I also really appreciate that the care director provides her work cell number so you can text questions or concerns without having to play phone tag. The biggest struggle for us has been the food. There is one main meal option and three "rotating" alternatives, but the alternatives don't seem to change much: chicken strips, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and mac-and-cheese. My mother-in-law is generally a healthy eater and prefers things like salads, chicken breast, and vegetables, so the cheese-heavy, fried options have been challenging. We've also asked for a menu, but one isn't available. If food variety and choice are important, this may not be the best fit. That said, the main meal option always looks and smells very good. The room itself is a nice size and reasonably priced. I like that it looks out onto the courtyards, even though it's considered an "inside" room. My only wish is that there were some cabinetry in the bathroom and a designated spot for the microwave so it doesn't have to sit on the small counter.

A nice place, but they didn’t have any openings for my husband. It was similar to what I chose. I signed him up at [community removed].

My overall experience so far with Castle Gardens has been a 4.5. The staff there is very attentive and caring. The facility is clean and warm and a perfect size for my Mom. There are multiple spaces she can go if she wants to get out if her room. And there are many activities she can participate in daily. Laundry gets done regularly, the wellness staff is excellent and knowledgeable. The dining experience is very good. I would recommend to others. The only thing I would say is a downside is the lack of efficiency at meal service. The wait staff do not seem well trained and the wait time to get your food can be frustratingly slow. Also, when my Mom first moved in she was promised a 'buddy' (another resident) to help ease the transition but that never happened. Otherwise everything has been as promised.

Nice facility, clean with good amenities. Decorated nice, warm and homey feel. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Brookdale Canton has a very friendly staff and I would highly recommend it as a place for yourself or a loved one.

Personnel are great Relatively clean Food so so at times Residents looked after regularly Friendly environment Good activities Big rate increase this year so expensive Light personnel on weekends making it difficult to enter & exit but I understand to keep cost down I know my loved one is where she belongs, safe with comfort

Unclear, pricing. If interested, get firm price. Did not like secured door during the day. Not a memory care.
