Brookdale

I should mention that my family member resides in the memory care wing of Brookdale Sleepy Hollow. More communication would be appreciated between 'physician' staff to the family members when a medical situation comes up. Staff/care, for the most part, has been good, and if there are any concerns they are promptly handled. There appears to be plenty of activities available, but getting my family member to participate has been a struggle. The activities director hasn't given up and continues to try to get her to join in. The food has been good, and plenty of choices to choose from. I have noticed, at times, the smell of urine on the memory care side of the facility has been pretty strong, but seems to be taken care of in a timely manner. The apartment size I went with for my family member has been perfect. Cleaning service within the facility has done a good job in keeping the apartment clean. All in all, I am very pleased with the decision in choosing Brookdale Sleepy Hollow. It is a smaller facility, compared to some of the much larger facilities offered in our area, which was a strong deciding factor in my choice.

Good staff, small food portions, no real activities to keep residents busy rooms adequate, no real hierarchy i.e. someone who has control over everything for family to talk to, staff overworked at times and underpaid, but are pleasant and try hard.

The care staff have been wonderful and provided care, kindness and compassion for my dad while he was at Brookdale Chanate. The facility is kept up and provides a safe environment for its residents.

The staff was helpful and friendly, Food was acceptable, cleanliness was good, my room had a door onto a small porch facing an enclosed courtyard. The courtyard was well maintained with flowers and a garden.

They have great staff and we would recommend Brookdale Hollywood Park to other families.

This was a Virtual Tour. The sales associate was very pleasant and answered many of our questions. The facility looked a little dated but pleasant enough. It seemed they had basic but adequate amenities. Rooms appeared a little disappointing, lacking a kitchenette with sink or microwave or refrigerator. It appeared cable tv was not provided in the rooms, but I failed to follow up on that point. Brookdale refused to provide rates, which I found annoying and not standard business practice. Rather, she started out high, then discussed discounts, rather like a car dealer. Brookdale East Broad would not be my first choice, but could serve temporarily. Ratings below per what I could see via FaceTime.

Nice place, friendly staff, happy residents, however the facility grounds need a lot of work, patio with BBQ needs a more inviting atmosphere. It is a bit run down and the chairs were hard and uncomfortable for older bones. We loved [Name Removed].

Brookdale is a beautiful facility. My only dislike was the microwave and refrigerator are in the bedroom.

Our loved one hates the food and has not participated in any of the activities. The affordability of one facility.

I really liked Brookdale. And I think my sister did too. I've recommended Brookdale to several folks. They did have an issue with her sink and she could not use it for a month. Her room was a decent size and and the maintenance guys were great. Helping with shelving and hanging pictures. The staff was friendly and easy to work with. She would have liked a couple of group outings and a few more activities, for those that could get out. I would definitely use that facility again if I needed too.

The staff is extremely friendly, caring, and always willing to help whenever my mom needs anything. They offer a variety of activities for residents, even though my mom personally doesn't participate in them. The food always looks fresh and appetizing, although I haven't had the chance to try it myself. The facility is clean, well maintained, and has a welcoming atmosphere. My mom's current room is a nicely remodeled single room that is comfortable and provides her with a pleasant living space. Overall, we've had a very positive experience.

Staff at Brookdale Kingsport understood our urgent timing to get Mom moved in. They were prompt with their process. Made us feel right at home from the first meeting. I would recommend to anyone.

The food is very good, the staff is nice and friendly, they created good entertainment program (a lot of events, music, gatherings), they really care about the residents. I would recommend them to others who are searching for senior living.

The staff is very nice. The bus/van take us many places. The special pasta night for the family, friends & residents was amazing. The public areas & our apartments are clean & odor free. However, we need games like bridge, canasta & mahjong. We need more outings like theaters, museums & flower gardens. Acoustics are terrible in the main meeting room (Atrium). The food is just so so. The vegetables are overcooked. While the meat is often overcooked. There is too much grease on the food/plate. I usually get paper napkins to remove the grease. The only soup palatable is the tomato basil soup. The others are curdled, overcooked or tasteless. The dining director tells us she'll talk to the chef/cook, but nothing changes. Residents say that it's always been that way.

I found staff and residents to be extremely warm and friendly. They have many activities for the women but not enough for the male residents. Generally meals were just fair to ok. Breakfast was the best and enjoyed by most. Sorry I can't comment on apartment size because I don't have a lot of background in this. I believe many of the staff went beyond normal caring that would be expected from an assisted living facility.

(at [Amount Removed], you'd think you'd get treated like royalty. Unfortunately, it is quite obvious that there's not enough staff to provide the care that people think they should get. The staff does what they can, WHEN they can. But it's still better than a nursing home.) However, what we like the most about the community is the cleanliness. Filtered water tanks on ea floor. Caring & helpful staff. Good food. Engaging local trips outside the facility. Also weekly trips to Walmart & Publix. And yes.... I would recommend this community to others & HAVE recommended the AL part. Have not visited the MC side in years.

They like to celebrate all the holidays and make them fun. Also, they get into football, and they like to decorate!

Friendly, respectful employees. Mediocre food. Not enough servers. I like my 1 be, den apartment and that they allow pets. Visit and have a meal before making a decision.
