Brookdale

Nice clean, quiet, lots of light. A central little courtyard for residents to use. My husband is now residing there for respite care. The minimum for respite care is 30 days, which seems to be different from other facilities which set maximums of about that length. Staff all called him by name during his check in. He has only been there 2 days, so no firm opinion on actual care yet . Lower rating for sales/marketing staff is because the sales manager we spoke with was no longer at the facility when I called 2 days later. However, executive director took over and was very helpful.

Brookdale provides a very welcoming, friendly, and supportive community. The staff is exemplary, from the Director to the housekeepers, and the range of activities offered is impressive. The rooms range in size and are well designed to support those with mobility challenges. We made a great choice for our parents to come to Brookdale!

5+ - FOOD IS OUTSTANDING (all residents agree). Activities (not sure as they have been without an activities director for several months. Brookdale NW Greensboro was one of about 6 facilities we visited with my 93 year old mother-in-law before selecting the place she wanted to be. She moved from another facility and immediately said this place felt more like a home. The chef is great and remembered what she said she liked and had it for her the day she moved in

am glad I chose Brookdale to place my mother when we could no longer take care of her at home. At Brookdale, she has settled in well. The staff are kind and helpful. Her room is always neat. She has choices of meals and she is a picky eater, but she likes the food there. I met the chef and a few of the kitchen staff. They cater to their residents, which helps when there is a picky eater like my mother. There are plenty of activities for residents. I've been there when a local singer came, and residents often gather to watch tv together. Mom also loves puzzles and there are plenty there to keep her busy. She showed me a shelf that she said she had finished herself and another shelf waiting for her to work. She has dementia so she doesn't think about doing things like sitting in the courtyard and enjoying the sunny weather. We've done that a few times and she really enjoys it. She may prefer puzzles because it keeps her mind busy, and unless she has someone to talk to outside, she might not think of it. Overall, I am very pleased with Brookdale and am glad someone recommended it to me. Mom is 94 and doing better than she has in a long time.

Overall our experience has been great. As they learn my mother and she settles in we have some adjustments to make but nothing major. The staff is friendly, very helpful, went above and beyond to welcome her, and treat her with dignity and respect.

[name removed] was very knowledgeable and offered me the resources I needed to make a decision. At this time, I have discussed with my siblings and parents about the facility, and I am due to have them visit today [date removed]. Hopefully we can make a decision soon.

My father in law enjoyed staying at Brookdale. He loved the food the staff and the activities. Everyone was very very friendly and the place was spotless. I would definitely recommend it

Mom is in Independent Living so no care but she does have access PT on a regular basis which great having it readily available. The food is problematical in quality and service. There are significant changes in staff and protocol occurring [date removed]. Apt is very nice and size is OK for her living requirements.

The people were wonderful. The facility and activities were good. We are comparing costs and this community isn’t a Medicaid community. That’s not helpful for us. We liked Grand Villa better. [removed] is a possibility as well.

I was upset by my husband's hospitalization when I toured Brookdale. Therefore I was not too sharp about noticing details. Our guide was warm and thorough and answered our questions candidly. However I have heard nothing from her since the day after my visit

The staff is friendly, though they often seem overworked due to the high turnover rate. That’s been my biggest concern with Brookdale. Otherwise, the community is clean, welcoming, and makes a genuine effort to keep residents engaged with activities. The food is sometimes comparable to school cafeteria fare and can be repetitive. I supplement my mom’s meals with groceries to add some variety, but overall it’s adequate. The room sizes are reasonable, although I’m upgrading my mom to a larger room for an additional cost, which speaks for itself. The long-term staff members have been excellent, and any staffing issues I’ve encountered have been addressed promptly. Overall, these challenges are fairly typical of many senior living communities.

Brookdale was good for my Dad. They seemed to genuinely care. We had a great experience at Brookdale overall. We found the staff to be very polite and receptive, everyone seemed pleasant, and that they genuinely cared about my Dad's well being. The facility was kept clean, the food was good, and the staff were excellent.

This December marks my first anniversary of living at Brookdale. The care services here are excellent. I decided on Brookdale Boynton Beach because it has a swimming pool and is conveniently near shopping stores like Publix. I take pleasure in swimming and enjoy joining the aquafit classes. I eagerly anticipate their unique events, for instance, on the 4th of July, they hosted a fantastic BBQ featuring burgers, ribs, and hot dogs!

Five years ago, I relocated my mother to this facility. She has truly come to love it here and has developed a circle of friends. In my search for a suitable place, my goal was to find a location that wasn’t too large, yet offered enough community for her to connect with others. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff, who were evidently kind and attentive. Their genuine care for the residents was clear. Fast forward to today, five years later, this warmth and friendliness persist, contributing to the excellence of this facility. While my mother’s healthcare needs are quite minimal, I have had the opportunity to observe the nursing staff, and have been impressed by their patience and dedication. Those working in this field truly deserve commendation and gratitude for their invaluable work.

Some of these are rather challenging to reduce to just a number. Overall, I think it's a good facility. The initial intake process had some changes and perhaps even a bit of miscommunication, but it seems to be going more smoothly now.

I am giving 4 stars, just because they have a hard time keeping cleaning staff. But my dad likes it there otherwise. He likes the food and the choices they give him.

The staff have been very helpful and the residents are friendly that live near Mom.

Mom needs full assistance, which makes things harder. But I am not sure it could realistically be much better without more dedicated assistance at a much greater cost. They do respond pretty well to whatever she needs. And things improved some with the new manager, [name removed]. [name removed] is very involved.

The staff are all patient, caring, giving people. There are always activities going on. The food is pretty good. The place is always kept clean and the housekeepers are very good. My one bedroom unit is very roomy and peaceful. Overall I am quite pleased.

Overall experience has been very good. Early on there was a problem with Mom not getting the 2 showers a week that we pay extra for her to get help taking. The director took care of it and credited us for the shower fee for 1 month.The staff has been excellent! Very good dealing with my Mom. She can be a little difficult at times. As far as the activities are concerned I see other residents engaging in different activities and appear to be enjoying themselves. Mom steadfastly refuses to take advantage. The food hasn't been an issue, however Mom insists that the portions are too large. The facility, and Mom's room are always kept immaculately clean. The room she is in is the larger of the two one room options. As far as the cost is concerned, it's quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.
