Brookdale

Everything is great there, the food, the activities and the caretakers. They have all been very nice and helpful to my aunt and myself. It has been a difficult adjustment however. My aunt repeatedly calls for me to come get her and bring her home. That is by no means brookdale fault at all but it has been very trying. I think she might finally be adjusting to her life there. Here's hoping!

My sister has made many friends and occasionally hosts trivia games. She has joined a nearby church. Her health isn't 100%, but she soldiers on and is very happy to be near her daughter. There have been a few glitches, but overall, it's a very nice place.

I think there should be more core staff available on weekends. Overall, they have been very good working with him. Everyone is pleasant and kind toward the residents. I think he is in a good place. Also, it's very clean and I never detect a urine smell.

The food has the resident complaining. My mom says it is chicken and fish almost everyday. Which is not very good. The staff is terrific and so is the facility. The room and amenities are great and the activity director is wonderful.

The one-bedroom apartment is adequate. Remember to downsize your belongings and be prepared to remove some items from your personal inventory. The staff is well motivated and strives for excellence. The kitchen staff identified my special dietary requirements before I had my first meal. The community has a small therapy pool. It was built around 1990, but the amenities are up to date. It requires a lot of walking to get around, so I use my walker. There are lots of side activities available. Like any social group, some people like you and some do not. Of those that do not, I am glad they tell me to my face. Real registered service animals are accepted. If you have a pet, be prepared to care for it and clean up after it, as there is a monthly pet fee. Like any other apartment building, there are daily issues that come up, so patience is important. Biweekly housekeeping and recycling pickup are available. All meals are provided in both assisted living and independent living. I only keep medications and filtered water in my full-sized refrigerator, and I have not touched my canned goods. Independent living means you have the ability to care for yourself. The apartments have full kitchens, but no dishwashers. Some apartments also have apartment-sized washers and dryers.

The residents here are exceptionally kind and welcoming and loving. Most of the workers are also. There is a great sense of community. The food is pretty good and you couldn't ask for better activity Director. Upper level management is lacking in integrity. They say that they will do things that they have no intention of doing whatsoever. The maintenance/ housekeeping, supervisor treat the residents and housekeeping staff terrible. That is why I can't score this facility any higher than I have. He has no respect for anyone.

I like the place a lot but they have been having some recent issues. There are no rides to appointments currently because they wrecked the van. Events have been cancelled etc. I also know my MIL is still hesitant to get involved so I am hopeful. I would still recommend it to others. Staff is great. Executive director knows everyone by name and they all work hard to make people feel welcome. I feel safe with her there

The staff was friendly and professional. The tour was comprehensive, with the opportunity to see all aspects of the community. Pricing and options were outlined and explained. Experience allowed me to place it high on my list of potential residences.

The meals are excellent, they need more consistent staffing. However, we would recommend this community to other families.

Some context for my comments: my mother moved in on [date removed]. On 5/5 she was hospitalized, then moved to hospice where she passed away on [date removed]. She was only at Brookdale just over a week. The staff were all very nice, very friendly. There was some confusion over my mother's need for shower assistance, but I think this would have been worked out if my mom had been there the second week. Also I'm having trouble sorting out the finances. It seems the local Brookdale never cashed the check my mom gave them upon signing the contract and didn't report that her things were officially moved out on [date removed] so I'm getting bills from their corporate office for back due amounts and for June. I'm still sorting through this.

The Brookdale East Arbor is a very nice facility and the staff are very friendly!! There is so much to do here and the rooms are nice as well. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their own family.

It was a nice place and everybody was was kind and gave us a lot of information. It was on the smaller side, but very homey feeling, the tour was good but it's just not a good fit for us.

My mother-in-law enjoys the interaction with the friendly staff. At first there was frustration over filling prescription medications. It seems most residents use Southern to fill Rxs but Southern did not accept their Rx supplemental insurance. If using Southern was going to be an expectation they should have mentioned it when we first visited Brookdale. It seems to be working ok now. It would be helpful if there was someone on staff that could change the filters on their hearing aids. It seems to me that a good number of the residents probably have hearing aids and assistance with maintenance on them would be a given. Many days my mother-in-law complains about the food selection and the lack of dining room staff. In fact she thinks overall the facility is understaffed.

I have had some unanswered emails but am able to take care of them when I visit. The staff is very caring and friendly to clients and families.

Good floor plans and layout some room gave own private door to the courtyard, ideal for pets, all 1 level.

The staff is fantastic. They need new plumbing. I've never ate there, but the menu that is posted is never right.

The inconvenience of ordering 3 meals daily for a patient who will not go to the dining room is a little tedious to plan. We were in short term need during the holidays and the staff worked so hard to get us accommodations and include us in daily activities. The efficiency model was fine for us in our situation. The aides/ assistants were top notch, caring, asking for our needs, and personable. Nurses employed by facility were efficient and carful. In some of the contracted spur of the moment nurses I was surprised that the patient medication process did not utilize checking his name or DOB. All routine nurses were diligent with ID, especially before they knew [name removed] and the regimen. The engagement activities were well planned but my husband's hearing impairment left him with no interest in anything. Coffee cafe nice touch and staff were welcoming and aimed to please.

The cost is 50% higher than previous facility with hopes of less care for mom. She has been mostly immobile there with a Foley catheter. She is currently back in the hospital Brookdale admin staff has been great in accepting her. There is additional $[removed] charges which will drop once mom more independent. Unfortunately not happened yet. As stated she has been ill. Care staff, though long time employees, tell her they "dont know" to questions. They also state " this is not a nursing home". She has coped but now Foley is out, she has fallen 3 times now landing her back in hosp.

I pretty much never give 5 ratings because there is always room for improvement. The staff is very friendly and seems to relate well to the residents. Rooms are a decent size for a bed, table, bedside drawers and dresser. Bathroom is older but sufficient. They have a daily activities schedule for residents who choose to participate.
