Brookdale

My mom has been at Nohl Ranch Inn for about 2 months. The facility is very clean and well kept. The staff is almost always very friendly and helpful. They seem to be always available when my mom needs help. The initial move in felt more like moving into an apartment. There was no formal initiation or instructions and at first my mom did not know the cleaning or laundry schedule. She is a relatively solitary person, and does not partake in 99% of the activities. She is a very picky eater, so the food is not to her liking. I have not eaten there, but it always smells good. At this point, she needs no extra care. I see the staff helping other residents, they are always happy and friendly.

The common areas and outward appearance of the place is great, but sometimes keeping up on my loved one's room can be a bit of a scramble. Everyone is very friendly, I have met everyone that works there, I think, they speak to us every time we are there, and speak to mom with utmost care and respect. Everything has cost exactly what they told us it was it would. They are very good about answering any questions as soon as they are asked. When we first came the activity director had all the people out there singing and doing all kinds of activities, but after the first week or so she left. She was very in touch with the residents, she was very good about getting the residents up and involved, now they are spending a lot of time in their room, and they are getting bored to death. The food is good, and at first she said the food was delicious, but the last time I went and ate, it wasn't the best looking plate. Overall they are doing a very good job, and mom is more content than she was at the other place she lived.

The staff has been really great. They are very friendly and accommodating. For example, my mom was once sharing a room with another lady and it did not work out well, and they really went out of their way to help get her in a better situation. One area of improvement I can think of is that I think they could respond a little quicker when their emergency call thing is clicked. I know they have a lot of residents to care for though, but that is one thing I have noticed. Overall though we are very happy. The food is good as well.

I have never been treated so well. I have lived in two places and they were not like the villa. The villa is clean and has big windows to let in the light. I love waking up every morning and see my cat laying in the window enjoying the sun. I seen my first deer up close, and never realized what beautiful animals they are. the mallards are pretty and i love to watch the squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees. Of course my cat really likes it to. There is plenty of walkways in the community to walk and enjoy the outside. The food is so good, and the staff is great. management could not be any better. They are the best. I love, love the villa.

My mother has been there over a month. The folks who run the place, or tend to the elderly living there, are upbeat and efficient. Once my mother made some friends, the caregivers have kindly placed them together at a table quite often. Some people are not as enthusiastic about the food as we are - we are not looking for Lucques... we are happy with tasty, fresh, healthy and simple foods - all of which are always available. They are very responsive to requests for small portions, a big hit with my mother. The views of the ocean, the birds, and the sailboats are very pleasing. The air and sunshine, so fresh and abundant in Santa Monica, add to the sense of well being.

I witnessed someone who had passed away while we were visiting once and they were taking the body out. The family was there and aids went out of their way to show utmost respect for the deceased. There have been a couple of times where her bed was not made up in a timely manner, but that was a very small and minor issue. For the most part it has been a very positive experience. Overall we are very satisfied and would recommend them.

They have been very helpful, and very professional. I haven't had any complaints, or noticed any concerns. It's a lot better than the place we were at before.

We have no concerns, I think they are doing really good. It's clean and the staff is friendly. There is no concern over the care. We have had no complaints about food or activities, they are doing a really good job.

I have been here just a few days, but the staff makes you feel like you are part of the villa. I love it so far. Can't say enough about how i feel. The grounds are beautiful and the inside is the same. The food is so good. Never have i had food like this. It's healthy , and as i said so good. Lots or things to do if you chose to do them. As i said before, staff is great, and you know that they care about the residents. You wake up every morning knowing that you are in a safe place, and you are taken care of. Wow what more could you ask for. Come to the villa and you will not be sorry.

My family has had to deal with this unexpected issue 5 states away. We had to drop everything and help my mom out. Not knowing what to do or even where to go, the internet help. Found "A Place for mom" which helped me found Horizon Bay. The folks there have been so helpful and understanding of our issue. We were treated like family not a customer, which is huge in this situation. Mom feels very welcomed by everyone from the staff to residences. Rooms are nice and spacious. Every residence is greeted by staff when passed in the hallways by last name. (Mr. Mrs. and etc) Dining area is nice and service is wonderful. Again everyone is greeted with small talk. Very welcoming.

Clare Bridge is a very good fit for my mother. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I am lucky to have my mom so close to me now. The design is much better than Cherry park, it allows residents more freedom to roam. Clare Bridge is really like a big house, with lots of caring people living and working there

Foundation House has a great staff. The Managers were very caring as well as the staff. We were made to feel welcome right away on our first day of moving in. The facility is clean and homey. The decorations are up to date and fun. I listened to several musical sessions that were put on for the quests (choir, keyboard and cello player). Mom loved the food and care they took to prepare it just the way she needed it to be as she had special needs. She had moved into assisted living as she was having trouble making her own meals and was sometimes too tired to finish them. I would recommend Foundation House for assisted living and nursing care.

I am so glad I found Claire Bridge. The staff is caring and dedicated to the residents. They always have some sort of activity going on from games, singing, photo tours of various countries, daily sit and exercise sessions and so much more. I have met another caregiver who works at another facility and I asked her why Claire Bridge and not where she worked because I had considered that facility. She said that where she worked was a nice place but not as homey and personal as Claire Bridge. Claire Bridge is not cheap but the care, involvement and dedication of the staff to the residents is PRICELESS!!!

My mother has adjust very well at Brookdale. There are still some issues that have to be ironed out, but overall it is a very friendly, safe place for my mother. Looking forward to a very happy life at Brookdale for my mother.

All the staff is very helpful and friendly and made my parents feel welcome. They love the food that they serve for all three meals. The activities have been canceled once in a while, but overall everything is great.

When my family asked what we should know about Emerald Crossings that we had not thought to ask in the facility evaluation period, their response to us was that they would love our mother as much as we did. And they certainly did.

I was very happy with what they told me when I was there for the orientation. In the end we decided on another place, and the decision really came down to price. They were more expensive than what I was able to find at a comparable care facility.

We liked it very much, Room sizes were good, only viewed 1 or 2 from hallway, admissions/marketing director and nurse were very nice. We had lunch there and it was very nice.

So far, so good. The staff is very helpful and they do listen to your concerns. My mother-in-law is happy there. Plenty of activities, lots of food choices and friendly residents. I know we made a good choice.

This was my favorite of the places I toured. The only thing is that my loved one didn't like that she would have to pay for breakfast even if she did not eat it, and she is not a morning person. Other than that everything was fantastic, everything was clean, and the staff was very friendly.
