Brookdale

The food is excellent & the dining rm. gives the residents the feel of going out to dinner. There are many fun activities. The staff are all friendly and helpful. It is kept clean and up to date. They will accommodate all requests if reasonable. An excellent ALF.

My mother has been a resident at Emeritus for just over one month, but even in this short time, I feel that the staff have been 100% supportive in terms of the help they have provided to help my mother settle into her new surroundings. There is a sense of warmth and friendliness each time I walk into the lobby and activities area. This is a place where residents feel comfortable and can easily make new friends. I'm thrilled that we chose Emeritus at Creekview!

My mother stayed for three weeks in Respite Care following out-patient surgery. Everyone encountered that first day bent over backwards to make her comfortable. She had been diagnosed with dementia and DAILY complained that she wanted to go home. Even though the meals were delicious, the activities fun and entertaining (when she would agree to attend), the therapy excellent, the residents she met were friendly and caring, but she wanted to go home! Negatives: all place settings were not removed from the tables after meal times and replaced with clean ones, no one changed her band aids after the surgical dressing was removed and the nurses were so busy they could not tell me if she had had any pain medication. Overall, a positive experience in a difficult situation .

It is a bit pricey and if you have a set income that might be a problem otherwise it is a very fine place.

The people at Wynwood of Utica have been very very good. They have all been very caring and compassionate, and have taken excellent care of my mother. It has been a good experience and I would recommend them.

Its a really nice place and I see where they take good care of people. Food smells wonderful and they care about and allow loved one to have dog.

Our experience with Emeritus At Pinehurst was one of Respite Care. We appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. They made us feel like family. The care was very good.

Very comfortable with mom living there. She did not want to lose her independence, but after arriving and settling in, is very happy. We thought that it would be hard for her to adjust and she would be miserable, but she has begun to establish relationships with the staff and other residents. The food they serve is very good, she had gained three pounds in the first week. (which she needed) We have an excellent relationship with their staff, they are patient with all of us since it is a lot to take in at first. We are notified quickly in the event of issues, and problems are resolved quickly. We highly recommend Sterling House.

I looked at many places over on the east coast of Florida and in Fort Myers. Emeritus at the Lakes is far superior than any of them I visited. One of the main things I liked was that the independent living apartments and the assisted living are intermingled. I think its a great environment because otherwise it is really depressing to only be with people that require a lot of care. It is more of a normal living environment to have people of all types around you. Some are going on outings and some are staying at home, but the overall feel is "happy", normal apartment living. The facility is fresh and clean. Also, the décor is lovely. I knew it would matter to my aunt who has always appreciated decorating. At 98 she is commenting on how nicely the halls are decorated and how beautiful everything is. She has also commented every day on how nice the people are there and that she likes it and wishes she had moved sooner. So, it is a wonderful place. However, the things to consider would be: 1) How much medical help is required. They have been very responsive and kind whenever she calls them using her pendent. But, I do not usually see them in the halls when I visit. (Maybe they are helping other residents?) She is at the highest level of care and they do check on her frequently, so I do feel she is being well cared for and do not worry about that. 2) I have to say this place is expensive. It is the most expensive place I looked at and would probably not have chosen it if there was other availability. They do not have a lease, but now that she is there and loves it, I will try to find a way for her to afford it. I am sure she would not be happy elsewhere after living at Emeritus! However, if you are not at a high level of care, you may find the base rent affordable. Their level of care charges are much higher than the other places I looked at. The rent is in the high-mid range. Expect a yearly increase.

I had only two weeks - during the holidays! - to find a place for mom when she developed hallucinations. I asked others for their recommendations, and several recommended the "old Sweet Life" (former name). While mom was furious at being taken from her home, she soon saw the benefit of having people take care of her needs. Her room is absolutely lovely and was spic-and-span when we moved in. Brookdale is more like a very nice hotel than a memory care facility (and I toured another facility that still makes me shudder). They do not accept Medicaid, though, which has left us with some serious budgeting. Every person we've dealt with has been personable, friendly and helpful. They are in touch with me frequently and I visit a few times a week, always welcomed by the staff. My sister and I feel totally secure with having Brookdale watch over our mother.

This is the best place for you or a loved one could possibly find. It's high quality! Very good food. Lot's of entertainment and very clean Everyone is so friendly and helpful. When ever my love one's push their buttons for assistance, someone would be at their door in just 2 minutes. I would highly recommend them to everyone. If I could afford it, I would want to retire there!!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Have talked with other residents and their families and all had good things to say. They treat their residents with respect and kindness. All have a smile on their faces. The dining room looks elegant and the food is good. So far we are very happy with our choice for our Dad.

So far everything seems to be going as best it can be going. The adjustment is hard. Most everyone has been very helpful with answering questions and things like pointing me in the right direction. I watch the staff with other residents as well as with my loved one, and I don't have any concerns there. It's pretty clean, and I've had some experience before so I think I know some of what to look for. So far I would rate them pretty highly.

Eden estates has been a great place for my mom. She is so reluctant to socialize and still is but knowing she is with others for meals instead of sitting at home alone is great and she seems to enjoy it more than she is willing to let on. I am more at ease knowing she has help around the clock even though she is in independent living. The staff will assist her then call me to let me know what has happened or that she may need assist from family or doctor. Nice to know that even though she is independent living she can still get help when needed. All the staff have been so kind. Eden Estates was comparable in price and they are all expensive. Oh, and the food smells great! : )

After visiting and thinking about all the retirement communities in this city, we chose Brookdale as the perfect place for my sibling, who was moving from another state. The highest recommendation goes to the staff. Words to describe them are: kind, professional, knowledgeable, the cream of the crop. While the apartments are dated, they provide a more homey and warm environment than I felt in the newer establishments. Lots of activities and services. Residents can participate in many or a few or none of the activities.

Very helpful with research for a placefor my 92 year old Aunt. Even after choosing a place they followed up and were helpful with other Senior programs out in community.

There is a real family atmosphere at Pine Park in Hendersonville. The staff obviously care a great deal about the residents. Mom & dad have found a place that allows them to be active and have a full social life while providing comfort and security. Seeing how happy they are has made me feel so good!

my father has only been in there a week, but thus far everything has been great. he praises the food - which is the biggest part for him. Enjoys the activities as well.

So far they are doing a good job. It's clean and the staff is friendly. I don't really have any concerns. I would give them a 4.75, but 4.5 is as close as it comes. It's working out.
