Brookdale

I would say that this community is a good fit for my mom and I would recommend it. Mom is doing fine but she is still adjusting to the community and I hope she will participate in some of the activities offered once she is more comfortable. The interior and the grounds are kept very nice. I did have a chance to try a meal with her and mom thinks the food is wonderful. The nursing staff are friendly and are there when needed for each resident.

My only complaint is the fact that the billing is not done locally, but that's a minor thing compared to the care my mother has received. The staff has been really friendly and responsive. If I mention anything, they're quick to fix if there's any issues. They keep me informed on their situation. My mom isn't a fan of the food, but that is a more minor complaint. Overall, I'm extremely happy with how the staff cares for my mother!

My grandmother is still adjusting to the community and that is understandable. The community looks great, they keep the place very clean and nice. The only problem I've had has been with the billing and the unknown add-on's charges. Other than that it has been a great experience and everything is working out pretty well. The staff is great and very helpful. They do offer great activities and they take her on great trips. I really enjoyed the director, the communication with her was awesome. It is a very nice and amazing experience. I would recommend it.

One sentence to summarize my experience here. " I Have not seen or experienced anything that I do not like in this community". From Director John who is a great story teller, to Jill (marketing) who makes sure that I am taken care of, as promised on my negotiation with her, to Dining (Melita, Sitang, Cheril, Jomaica, Duane, Ray and Oscar) who serves me delicious meals everyday. Special mention to Matt, Pedro and Paula who keep everything working and the environment clean. I also enjoy the Mixed and Mingle program withTina and Peggy doing a super job.

Brookdale Sakonnet Bay has a very open, airy feel. We looked at two other facilities before making the move here. My mom has lived there approximately 2 months in Independent Living, moving from living on her own for 6 years following the loss of my dad. The one-room apartment is quite spacious even with bedroom + living room furniture (and a dining table); two good size closets; the kitchen area is a sink, small counter and smallish fridge & it’s all she needs; bathroom is a good size. We were lucky enough to get an apartment with a small terrace facing west overlooking the bay and river. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and caring; they pay attention to what activities you do (or don’t do). The dining room is large with roomy round tables and the food is generally well-prepared and tasty; I’ve had lunch & dinner there with my mom, and when she’s ordered something that it turns out she didn’t want, it was replaced quickly and cheerfully with something else. When we ate outside the facility but our notice didn’t get put “on the list”, someone checked up on her to make sure that she hadn’t simply forgotten to go down to dinner. Brookdale has quite a few activities available each day: music concerts, movement and stretching exercise, brain exercise; swimming pool; scheduled games (such as scrabble, cribbage, checkers, bingo, pokeno, etc.) as well as areas where you can set up your own games; a small movie theater with showings once or twice a week; an occasional outing to another restaurant, shopping or nearby attraction; current event discussions; crafts room; billiards room; chapel services; there’s an area with several public computers; a pub with scheduled ice cream socials and “mix-and-mingles”. All-in-all, it’s been a very good experience and move for her & she seems much happier being around others and socializing with those who live there, rather than living on her own.

I decided to move Mom from one place to Brookdale and even though it is much bigger than what she is used to she is doing very well. I spend quiet some time there and come at different times of the day. Th place is always nice and clean and the staff are wonderful. Mom is not very social because of her dementia but she has participated in some activities and being as social as she can be. I haven't heard any complaints about the food and I'm sure the experience will continue to go well.

As a family we decided that the place where my mother was prior was just not the right place. We decided on Brookdale Brookhurst and I am very glad we did. Since moving in she is more high functioning with all of the activities she has to choose from on a daily basis. The residents get to play 10 cent Bingo and she enjoys the chair zumba. Mom is a bit picky when it comes to eating but I have eaten there several times and they always have a nice fresh selection and it is really good. My experience with the staff have been wonderful. They are all very upbeat and welcoming and help keep us prepared for what we may need. So far I am completely pleased with the place and would recommend for sure.

My mother has adjusted very well to this community and I am very pleased. The community looks great and clean. I've never had any concerns in that area. The staff is very good at what they do. They have been very helpful and accommodating. She is trying new activities and they take the residents on nice outing trips. The is food is fair and she seems okay with it. Everyone has been very friendly and nice. I would recommend it.

Many thanks for the care provided my husband by the staff at Brookdale. Dementia is a heart-breaking disease. Everyone was so kind to him and to me. They gave him that personal touch which means so much when someone you love reaches the point you cannot care for them yourself. I will always be grateful that Brookdale was the right choice for us.

This was a very difficult time. Brookdale East Mesa was a true God's send. The facilities and the staff are amazing.

My father likes the Brookdale River Valley facility. He enjoys the food and the people there, including the staff who have been very helpful. My one complaint is that Brookdale doesn't provide ride service to my fathers hospital, the VA near OHSU. Apparently it is 10.5 miles from the facility and rides are provided to hospitals within 10 miles. This means I have to personally take him to the VA or he needs a taxi. Seems like we should be at Brookdale Oswego Springs where they provide such transportation.

The staff at Brookdale are so friendly and helpful. The location is great too, being located in the Heights near 290 and 610. The studio apartment are a good size and my mother says she is very happy there - which is the most important endorsement of all! :-) Her only complaint is that she doesn't like the food, but I think it is just because they have too many healthy options. :-(

They are caring for my father and his needs very well at this community. I am very pleased with everything they have done for us. This is a good community everything looks good and clean most of the time. My father takes advantage of most of the activities they offer. He said the meals are nice and the food is good. They accommodated my father and I very well and I would highly recommend this community.

Love it! My mom is sooooo happy!

Our dad and his wife just moved in at Brookdale Senior Living in Conway, ARkansas. Linda was a big help in the paperwork and the many questions we had. The staff is very friendly and eager to help in any way needed. The apartment was relatively clean; I deep cleaned the half bath and sanitized it for dad. The bath and kitchen drawers needed some attention inside also. The dining experience is restaurant-like with a menu and many selections. Orders are taken by table individually at each meal by the staff. They are courteous and explain to the residents anything they ask about on the menu. There is always some type of entertainment scheduled in the community room for the residents. We were there when The Four Jays performed and they were awesome! They come every two weeks to entertain. Laundry and linens are done for each resident once a week. Towels are provided and laundered several times a week. They have a minibus for shopping trips and events outside the community. There is a doctor on the staff for any resident who would like to use him for their family physician. Rental is a basic fee according to choice of apartment with additional cost for customized care if needed. The other residents we met were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our folks are very pleased. Barbara, the director, goes above and beyond to make everyone feel at home and make sure their needs are met. She knows each resident by name.

It's a huge relief knowing that my dad is so comfortable, likes the food as well as he does, and is in such good hands.

It's a great place to be. The one problem is the personalized care, they can't seem to get it right, I have had multiple errors and miscommunications, and they left my door unlocked twice. The other residents are friendly, and everything else is great.

With what had been the hardest decision of my life.... It has been one of the best. I feel the presence of love, compassion and care in this community. I have been waiting to exhale and have done so, after the warmest of welcomes my mother received when I brought her home to Brookdale Midlothian.

The staff at Brookdale Tempe have been caring and attentive to my father's needs from the moment he moved in. I did not think I would find such a warm and caring place.
