Brookdale

Brookdale Highlands is a little hard to locate because there are several similar buildings and they are not easily identified. The signage could be improved. This is a beautiful location with a high-end hotel atmosphere. It had more of a spa feeling then assisted living facility. It looks very comfortable and inviting. It was lunch time and the food smelled amazing.

If you are looking for a facility that provides great care and genuine concern for their residents, this is where you want to move! They took such good care of my mom. With every change in her condition, they helped her and we are grateful for the dignity and love they showed her.

I visited many assisted living facilities for my mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's. But when I found Brookdale at Echelon Lakes, I knew I had struck gold. The facility is beautiful, the staff (to a person) so friendly, caring, helpful, and welcoming, but most importantly, they offered me the hope no other facility did. My mother was set against going into "one of those places." Every facility I visited expressed concern that they would not be able to take her if she was not willing. I knew my mother's unwillingness was based on irrational fears and I only had to get her there to show her it was the best place for her-- no longer alone, things to do, caring staff looking out for her. Brookdale staff told me "just get her here and we will take it from there." And they delivered. I got my mother transferred there after a second in a week fall at home and a brief hospitalization. They prepared for her a meal of her favorite food and welcomed her with open arms. Photos they took of her on her first few hours showed a smile on her face we had never, in a very long time seen! We visited an Elder Care attorney at the same time to be sure we had all bases covered and the lawyer spoke highly of Brookdale, mentioning their "very robust" memory care program. The staff able to get my mother dressed in street clothes for the first time in a year (she insisted on bed clothes at home), got her participating in activities, and socializing. I wish I had gotten her to Brookdale sooner.

From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was “homey.” Our guide, [name removed], was personable, knowledgeable, compassionate and very helpful. Our first impression was a positive one.

[Name removed]is extremely professional and could not have been more personable and helpful. Costs were a bit higher than advertised, since they were recently revised and do not include the a la carte services. I am highly considering this facility and the entire family of Brookdale properties for my father.

My first indication that Brookdale New Hope was the right place for my mother occurred when the executive director, [name removed] insisted that I come visit with her to evaluate the facility. I had informed her that I had visited other facilities, including Brookdale properties and commented that I assumed all were very similar. She insisted that I visit and the rest is history. I was most impressed with the culture of friendliness and caring. It was obvious that [name removed] set the standard for others to follow. Despite the poor condition of my mother at the time of admission (surgery followed by pneumonia and rushed rehab), the goals were set high and all parties have delivered. The Brookdale staff at every level have been accommodating, responsive, and genuine. I must not overlook the physical and occupational therapists and the doctors used by Brookdale to care for the patients. They were excellent and the results exceeded all expectations. They all have an extremely difficult job in what is a very trying time for the families and their loved ones. We are very satisfied with the service and care given to our mom to date.

This place was great as well, though we didn't get to see everything, that was more on dad, he wanted to rush through it. The fact that he could smoke on the patio was nice, one story. He seemed to like the floor plan, said a couple of times that he didn't need much more thnt what he had seen.

Enjoyed visiting and looking at this facility! [Name removed] was very knowledgeable and helpful in discussing how [name removed] might be a good fit here. Everything was very clean and well maintained. They invited us to eat lunch in the dining room. We ate with two residents who had nothing to say but "nice" things about Brookdale Apache Junction. Enjoyed the food and the company very much! The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The longevity of the staff says a lot about this place from the kitchen and dining room staff to the administrative staff---most of them have been here many, many, many years! Negative is that there are extra fees for furniture for [name removed] temporary stay as well as the community fee is of concern. The apartment was very bright and clean. Kudos to Kevin and the the Brookdale Apache Junction staff---they are AWESOME!

Really enjoyed my visit and discovered another side to senior care. The home like feeling and ability for my mom to still be independent even with her new found limitations. She especially liked the other ladies living there, the food, and the easy of getting around. Christina was so patience and helpful. We loved her passion.

My uncle (in his mid 90s) has resided at Brookdale for the past year. Unable to live on his own, he requires "extra" help with activities of daily living (ADLs) which are not generally available in other assisted living facilities. Even with his loss of independence, he is quite content at Brookdale, as the staff there is professional, kind, engaging, and respectful. The facility has a bright and cheerful ambiance, is exceptionally well maintained, and has conveniences such as therapy availability, a beauty-barber shop, and skilled-care nurses onsite. My uncle, a very picky eater, enjoys the food and the array of menu choices. But perhaps the most outstanding feature is the Brookdale staff. During the past 12 months I have met nurses, aides, members of management, dietician and food service employees, who are extraordinary people--never too busy to answer questions, provide information and help, and who reflect the utmost competence and excellence. A special shout-out to [name removed], the receptionist who is an absolute delight, and [names removed], the maintenance staff who, I'm convinced, can do anything! In my opinion, Brookdale is the very best assisted living facility in this area.

The facility was very nice. We loved the screened porch and the outside courtyard. We adored the studio apartment setup. The Director answered all our questions and we left with a better understanding of how the process work in finding a safe place for my dad.

Me [name removed] was so awesome , so very helpful., she understood our process is a thought out and slow, we loved just about everything there , more importantly location is perfect, wish there were bottom floor rooms for my mother in law, but definitely workable. When my mom was no longer able to live in her senior community in August of 2017, I had a very short time to find a suitable new home for her. Complicating the situation was she (and I) was located in Dallas, TX, but her wish and her son-in-law/grandchildren's wish was to re-locate to Waco (~110 miles south of Dallas) where they were. So walking into Brookdale Lakeshore for the 1st time was very stressful, as I'd been to a couple of other senior communities in the Waco area that were highly recommended, yet when I visited them they were either poorly maintained or the staff were indifferent to our challenges (or both). THANK GOD WE FOUND BROOKDALE LAKESHORE! My girlfriend (now wife) is a health insurance agency owner had suggested we check them out, and we immediately knew it was the place for my mom. From day 1, the management team there ([names removed]) took the time to hear our needs and reassure us that she would get excellent care there. She is currently in her own 1 bedroom apartment as she is still able to manage the majority of her daily needs. But the staff is always available and willing to help her with other tasks that she occasionally forgets how to do. Brookdale Lakeshore just blew away the other senior living situations in the Waco area that we reviewed for cleanliness, support, and activities for the residents. My mom's 1 year anniversary there was on [date removed], and I cannot thank [names removed] and the entire staff enough for their help, support, and love to make her living there as comfortable as possible. It’s truly a relief to know that my mom is so well taken care of, and I’m so thankful to have found Brookdale Lakeshore in Waco for her. I highly recommend them to anyone that has a family member who needs to be in a similar setting in the Waco, TX area to check them out for their services and see if they would be a good fit for your loved one. I would give them 10 stars if I could!!!!

Very impressed, loved the staff.

We needed to find a good place for our 91 year old dad to move out of his home of 60+ years. After an extensive search through 'A Place for Mom' we found Brookdale and immediately knew we had found his new home. They worked with us to find just the perfect apartment for him and to make sure he felt welcomed once he moved in. They had 'ambassadors' help introduce him to other residents and make sure he started being involved in his new home. He LOVES it now, and wonders why he fought so hard against moving. They have a GREAT food menu, and he is eating all three meals. It was so hard to get him to eat while he was living alone, because he didn't want to fix anything, nothing sounded worth fixing just for himself, and often he would just skip meals. Now he sits with friends at each meal, and enjoys the food and company. He has cable tv for the first time, and absolutely loves it. He enjoys daily activities and socializing with new friends. We could NOT be happier that he has finally 'found a home'.

My children felt I should move out of my home because I was alone and they worry too much. Looking back, I’m glad I did. Everyone here is nice and helpful. What I appreciate is they will do what I need to make life easier. It’s a nice feeling to have an opinion and someone listens. I have made nice friendships and get out frequently to still experience life. Never again have to worry about home repairs or shopping. They do it all here graciously. I’m settled now and happy with my community.

Very nice people, very clean and homey facility. We are encouraged by what they can offer out Aunt. Hopefully we will be able to place her there.
