1. 3 they started off good then went downhill 2. 1 they left my mom without care multiple times without notice. Mom is incontinent and limited mobility so she was without cleaning, food or water until I could get home or make other arrangements. 3. 5 they were easy to set up 4. 3 started off good then went downhill hill 5. 1 caregivers were not friendly 6. 1 they often neglected tasks such as showering. They frequently "forgot" to give mom lunch and were most often sitting on their phone or outside smoking/talking on the phone.

Home Again is very friendly, responsive and reliable. The quality of the caregivers sent is not impressive. I felt very happy with 2 of them. The rest were not impressive.

Regarding Canaan Home Care, [name removed]the director was very sweet and caring with my mother.. However the initial agreement we made for the visit times changed before we ever got started as his other client situation changed! So I agreed to a longer time that I knew wasn't going to work with my mother! But we tried anyway.. Only a few weeks in and my mother stopped answering the door. At first I was getting notified of this. But after another week or two I discovered ... but don't know if it actually happened.. the care giver wasn't even going to my mother's because she figured my mother wouldn't answer. But we were still paying for a 3-4 hr visit.. After speaking with [name removed] he assured me she was going over, and he would have her call me when she arrived. The next week when she arrived she did call me.. And my mother was not accepting her assistance. My mother said she didn't like that woman and all she did was sit around.. Again.. that could just be my mother.. So we stopped the service. My biggest issue was the change of our original agreement..

They came through for me at a critical time, so grateful for that. The staff was nice, but only 1 was really engaging. Scheduling was easy, but important to reconfirm dates and times. 4 hour minimum. Hourly rate was high for the service level provided.

The workers were good. The billing was not. They would not mail the statements as requested. Elderly individuals are rarely capable of using email for billing statements. It cost them my father's business.

The reason is that it felt "institutional"; kind of like staff were just doing their jobs but not interacting much at all with the residents. I wouldn't say they aren't keeping up with basic standards but it was definitely not a place I would ever call "home". I realize you get what you pay for but caring interactions don't cost anything. My father (with increasing dementia but able to coherently carry on basic conversations at that time) told me and my brother that he did not want to stay there (after about 2 weeks). Yet, when we moved him to [name removed] he was very happy with all aspects the whole time he was there

It was frustrating that the staff can't "force" anyone to do anything. My mom has dementia and doesn't want to get out of bed most mornings, claiming she already ate breakfast in the cafeteria. But we needed a caregiver who would help Mom get up and moving and eat something so she could take insulin and manage blood sugar. Since the caregiver wouldn't do that, Mom tanked pretty quickly and ended up in the hospital, then the nursing home. So even though everyone was fantastically friendly, our experience wasn't great. Also, it's really expensive to have someone there who didn't do what we needed done.

Staff on intake seemed very conversational, amenable, eager to with us. The care receiver seemed to enjoy staff presence and work. Only in attempting to secure their services a second time were we made aware that there were two concerns (one in-residence, and one personal/hygienic) that "prevented" them from serving us again. I was rather shocked to learn that these issues had not been communicated to either care receiver or myself during or after the care received.

Staff not always trained for the type of patients they are working with and did not always do the cleaning they were asked to do.

You pay more for the same service you'd get at half price. I would not recommend.

The caregivers are not held to a uniform standard. Most caregivers do bare minimum. Even if asked to engage more with my dad and/ or encourage him to move, exercise, do mind games/puzzle, etc, they just sit and watch TV with him because that's what he is doing or says he wants to do. The one good caregiver we had, was having some health issues where she had to call out a few days and they were making her go to ER to get a doctor's note for every time. She couldn't afford that so had to quit.

If you need consistency, and verbal interaction this is not the team. There is a lot of changes for senior citizen with any type of memory challenges. There needs to be consideration for elderly woman, bathing is an private matter and they like to know who, not change a lot. Or you have uniformed staff to identify the person, I. D. something that indicates safety or quality of care.

Nice people. Some caregivers better than others. Overall good.

Don't just accept first person sent, Keep trying until you find a fit. I would highly recommend their services to others looking.

[name removed]was great. Worked with my husband on times in the morning to come over and there every evening on time. Did whatever my husband asked that he needed and was very nice and helpful at all times. We like her a lot!

The office staff seems fine on the phone. They just can't seem to get regular people. With dementia people having new people just makes them that much more confused. I let the office people know I need consistent people but they don't seem to try to hard at that. They will call my regular 1 person I have to try and work somewhere else which would take away from me. We have just been discussing changing companys.

I liked that they would provide a replacement if the caregiver scheduled had to miss. A few times, there were no- shows, so perhaps screen caregivers better. On the whole, caregivers were responsive to my dads needs, and communicative with us as well. Administrative staff was very responsive

We were concerned about finding the right fit.

Mom enjoyed the first lady assigned but after she left, then next person made her feel that she didn't need their service. So she fired them. So, I got their services reestablished with the assistance of their Administrative Staff. But in the end, a young lady came for approximately three hours but stay on her cell phone the entire time she was there. So, that ended mom's interest in in-home assistance. I would recommend this company again even though I never got a chance to meet the lady that stayed on her cellphone during her entire visit with my mom. I would like to have heard her side of the story.

We had a difficult client but had a few caregivers quit midshift and admin was not always cool with us. Mom was between assisted living and memory care. Some of the caregivers took unauthorized breaks as well. They were fine as babysitters but most did not try to engage Mom and what was the [name removed] role vs home instead was often unclear.
