The main thing I would suggest is a little more flexibility for required hours against actual need. We are probably more active than most

1) Ask the organization about the previous work of the potential staff member. Alzheimer's has some "quirky" qualities which experienced staff members will understand, but new ones may not. So, background (and/or training) are crucial. 2) Establish a good working relationship with the staff member for greater success with the person with Alzheimer's. 3) Communicate the issues that are occurring as clearly to the caregiver as possible 4) Patience.

Try to stay consistent with who shows up each day. I would recommend to others.

They are understaffed and over needed, The caregivers often just sit and wait to be told what to do instead of taking initiative, often failing to recognize that they are caring for clients with dementia who cannot provide that type of information. It has been difficult to get consistent care, that we have finally Solved for that. I would say they are a decent agency and do try, but it takes a lot of trial and error and sometimes very vocal and demanding feedback from the family to get what you need.

I like that they guarantee a companion will show up. What they could improve on is calling me when they have to change the scheduled companion. (Sometimes they do, but not always)

They have been very responsive to me and my wife. Some aids were not a great match and others were like mother and daughter to my wife. When we move back to Texas we will miss them .

The 2nd Family aids that came out to take care of my dad were absolutely amazing?? They cared for him as if he was their father??. Everyone that joined my team was so compassionate, willing to do anything they could to make things better. Everyone as so nice and easy to get along with. I appreciated when I felt that an aid was not a good match that 2nd Family listen. What ever request I made concerning scheduling was accommodated. Thank you so much for making this time with my dad so special ??

We weren't particularly happy with the quality of the caregiver. She spoke very bad english and my dad had trouble understanding her. He also complained about her just sitting around.

They have done their best to make sure that my mother-in-law is taken care of, but she won't allow them to do anything in the house like laundry or making the bed or taking her to go get groceries. But they have tried so I give them an a for effort.

What I liked, Everyone was helpful. They helped work out schedule , even though I was out of state they kept me posted. Improvement-They had to change caregiver several times. Information given I understood, but it's hard to explain to someone with dementia. , On what happened to the first caregiver . That would be something to work on. Home Instead was part of that plan. Helpful , friendly, overall nice community. Although we lost our Mom , the memories we share and knowing , we spent time on the front end, being prepared, having long term care insurance, making sure she was taken care of. "Spend time on the front end, So it's not hard for you on the back end! We Loved our Mom, and will always have good memories as well!

I understand care workers come and go. I hope the administrative staff has been able to find quality individuals that are professional and caring and can better match what we were looking for. I can't say enough good things about the administrative staff. They were so helpful as we entered unknown territory and were beginning our search for quality care.

They are very kind people, friendly, and warm. They seemed concerned about helping my father.

Admin Staff willing to work out custom shifts to fit the clients needs. One challenge was the spouse of the patient/client. Her expectation was that the person on duty would have other chores/duties to do while the patient was napping or sleeping. The overall need of the patient was someone to help with walking/stability when he got out of his chair or bed. Assistance getting dressed, showering, bathroom routine. It was important for the caregiver to be alert & aware and not busy doing chores but the spouse did not grasp this concept and unfortunately we had to stop the service. Ultimately it ended up that he could not stay at home and is now in assisted living and doing well.

What we like the most about ComForCare is that they are very communicative and are helpful. They sincerely believe in doing their best. My mom is not the easiest person to work with. She does better with male caregivers than female. They need more men on their staff. I know that takes time. But it's a challenge. However, I would recommend. Overall very good service; staff personable, knowledgeable and really works hard to accomplish the needs of the entire family

They were very helpful in finding our first caregiver. She had to move and they've been looking for a replacement for about 6 weeks. Staff could improve by providing updates on this search process.

I'm not sure if this directly answers the question but the 2 main caretakers my father had were excellent - very caring, attentive and compassionate. They did a good job of keeping him comfortable, encouraged him to eat or drink and moved him from the hospital bed to his recliner and back. A few of the others(especially the overnight shifts) were not as good. A lot of times they just sat and watched TV or did their own thing. They waited for him to need help before engaging with him. Not sure if that's just a personality difference between the helpers or possibly a training issue?

We just had an issue with the particular Caregivers running late or not going to be able to come. That was our main reason for changing because it got to where I was getting calls all the time.

What they could improve on would be to schedule them only when needed, didn't have to commit to so many hrs per week

Biggest thing for us is our location. We're in the country and sometimes hard to get someone out here. My husband has dementia so having the same person helps a lot. I would recommend their services to others.

With the help of Senior Helpers , my parents have been able to live in an independent living setting. Activities such as help making beds, doing wash and putting it in the dryer, grocery shopping, and cleaning bathrooms are such a helpful and friendly way to support them.
