We toured this location while looking into options for my Mom. This placed looked very glitzy and very nice, but it was also expensive. For the price I was not impressed with the patient to staff ratio.

I was not satisfied at all with them, there was a trouble with management and raising the price of the rent often times. There's no public transportation, buses, and the closest store about half mile away.

I would not recommend the memory care unit at Volante. Do not send your loved ones here.

Our experience has been very disappointing. If someone asked me for advice about this community, I'd say they should look elsewhere

Mill Landing Memory Care and Enhanced Memory Care Units are not for everyone. If your memory care loved one is docile, retired, quiet, composed, sleeps through most of the day and doesn't require much aide attention, it may be for you. If you loved one doesn't fit those standards, ML is not for you. My loved one, an Alzheimer's patient, was a member of ML for 8.5 months - actually 7.5 months if you take away the time spent recovering in Hospital and therapy from major falls at ML - broken ribs, punctured lung - due to insufficient Enhanced Care ($[fee removed]/day extra for 2-person transfer). My loved one did not fit ML's requirements. She required more personal attention than ML wanted or did provide. It took five months for ML to figure out how to handle her and keep her calm. By that time, her physical damages had occurred and my stress was sky high. ML decided that it could thrive better without MLO, so it evicted her. I'm happy to report she is thriving in her new facility.

Staffing was the issue and limited outside privilege. Most of the time, there was no one to let you in. You had to wait for one of the staff members to leave the residents to let you in. It was dark once inside the entrance. They had carpet on the floor, and patient's had accidents. Staff members were nice and respectful.

He says that they are very welcoming and attentive. They make you feel like family.

It was not a good experience. Mom was there 2 months. They don't have staffing to provide memorycare/supervision. She got knocked down by the motion sensor doors. They would send her to ED alone after all falls. They would not change a bandaid over a skin tear on her lower leg. They wouldn't get her up for breakfast or give her the meal later.

The food was good, the common areas were clean and comfortable and we found most of the staff were friendly

Well my mom "hated it". I will say that the food was terrible, like hospital food, most staff were wonderful, gentle kind caring people

When my mom was there they had a male fellow patient that would lose his cool and hit other people, including my mom. They said they couldn’t do anything to stop him. They continued to bill my mom for meds after she was no longer there. They never reimbursed her. The staff were not caring and they were rude. They would wheel my mom into a corner away from everyone else and ignore her. The staff seemed to take pleasure in making my mom feel bad. That is a long story. We really found no one that cared. They were just doing the absolute least.

I'm sad to say that I need to write a negative review as things have changed dramatically over the past year. We loved the Memory Care team when we joined last year - they were supportive and understood my parent's interests and needs. Since then there has been a complete turnover in staff. None of the new staff has had training on working with dementia - leads to upsetting and confusing interactions for the residents. Many of the staff are filling in from another area of the facility. All of this while the monthly rate has gone up. It's so upsetting. We've complained and management (also new) acknowledge they do have an issue with staff not being trained. It's not ok!

Seems to take forever to get any maintenance done. I reported a problem in April and it has never been fixed. High turnover of residents. I am moving out next week. I know of several. Others who have recently moved out or are about to, people seem to be using this place as a temporary home till they find something more to their liking or buying homes. One side of my kitchen sink I can't use, it was reported 6 months ago. One apt. Hasn't storm door which she reported back in June.

When my mother went there in June. 1 month was nice. Everything was smoothly. Then July hit an August hit and it was the worst experience we’ve ever had first of all the elevator hasn’t been working for about four weeks and it is a two-story building then they shut down the cafeteria because somebody had Covid and they were serving meals in the room my mother they must’ve missed my mother eight times For her meals, she wasn’t getting breakfast lunch and dinner I did complain and once Saturday night I had to go in the cafeteria and the head guy was there and I begged him to make her an egg salad sandwich . when she started getting her meals. Her name is [name removed], but she was getting meals for somebody in the name of [name removed].. I actually gave them 30 day notice. I will be taking my mom out of there and moving her back home for [fee removed] a month. I can do a lot better than they’re doing. they have a newsletter that goes out every day with activities but sometimes they weren’t doing them.

The staff are very friendly - the facility is good for active seniors. Management needs work. The care is very expensive for what you get but the people in the department are good. As far as the restaurant, there are a couple people that were good but most of the servers didn't care, the orders were often wrong, they ran out of things frequently. This is a good option if you have a pet. My loved one has since moved to a different place.

They did not have the staff or resources to deal with a patient with Lewy Body dementia. He was kicked out after 3 weeks because they didn't have the resources and I got none of my deposit back, even though it was not his choice to leave.

We were stuck between a rock and a hard place when my father was released from rehab very quickly. We had to switch him from independent living to assisted and since I already paid their exorbitant community fee of $[removed] along with $[removed] to secure a "special" rate (what they do with this community fee I have no idea since the bldg needs a total rehab). He arrived on [date removed], I gave notice of intent to vacate on [date removed] (as he always seemed depressed and unhappy) after a "family conference"and moved him on [date removed]. I know he expressed intense dislike of the place overall (his care givers were very nice but, it appears, very much understaffed), said the food was horrible and some of the folks were just downright rude and unhelpful. When you're paying over $[removed] per month, you hope that you have your loved one in a good place. I knew for sure Hawthorne Court was not that place.

They screwed up my Dad's medications several times and could have been a very dangerous situation. The woman in charge of meds, is very rude and defensive. Her staff would bad mouth her to me which was very inappropriate.

The staff the med techs the activities Director are wonderful but the turnover in the front office left little to be desired.

My rating would be much higher if she had been in an assisted living situation. Food needs to be more comfort food than restaurant meals. Staff needs to be more proactive in their care for residents. We payed a lot to have high end care and it was mediocre at best.
