Brookdale

This was just a look/see visit. Every staff member that I met was helpful and cheerful. Any question that I asked, it was answered and if they didn't know they immediately called another staff member that had the answer. I was looking for a studio for my Mom and it seemed a very nice size. All around a great visit. [Name removed] in sales was super helpful.

Liked this one. They seem to be a little inconsistent on pricing that has been communicated but so far it’s our first choice and they are doing an eval at the hospital

For my mom I don’t know how well it will work having different buildings to commute to and from for activities. Nice place though

Brookdale was very welcoming and attentive during our tour. The residents we saw seemed content and well cared for. The facility appeared clean. The representative giving us the tour was well informed. There has been a significant "sales pitch" from them. We are still in the decision making process and don't want to feel rushed.

This was a lovely place, very warm and welcoming. They have a nice variety of food from their menu for every meal. The residents were active and happy and wear a Mobile Alert button. The rooms were a little small, but each had their own bathroom with a large shower.

My mom has lived at Harbor Bay over three years, but she was also a resident for a year in [date removed]. Her condition improved in [date removed], and she was able to go to assisted living for nearly three years before she needed more secure care. Both of the times my family and I placed her at Harbor Bay, we did it with complete trust in the staff. Many of the staff members in [date removed] are still there today. I visit my mom at this facility once a week or more, and I have phone contact with various members of the staff regularly. I told my son that if I ever need this level of care, I want him to consider Harbor Bay for me. We chose Harbor Bay for many reasons. It is smaller than other facilities we toured. The building is bright, the atmosphere is cheerful, yet peaceful, and any foul odors are dealt with within a reasonable amount of time. The food is good and the chef has been on staff at least since my mom first went into care there. The caregivers really seem to enjoy spending time with the residents - beyond just giving the minimum care required. The director and management, the maintenance guy, cleaning staff and nurses also spend time with the residents and get to know them. There are activities that range from gentle balloon tossing, to outings and drives. There are sing-a-longs with guest musicians, crafts, church groups and special events with families and friends. Residents can choose to participate, and caregivers invite everyone to join in. No place is perfect, and I have had to address things with the director or nursing staff when I was unhappy about something. I have found that staying in touch and having a relationship with staff members is essential for good care for my mom. The director, resident care manager, nurses, everyone – makes time to listen to me and understand my complaint. If they overlook or forget something, or miscommunicate, they apologize and either correct the problem, or work with me to find a solution. I don’t recall having any problems with how the staff treat my mom or care for her. I believe she is safe and cared for, probably better than if I cared for her myself.

Brookdale was friendly and personable. Pricing varied due to stage on assistance. Rooms were new and had amenities for patient. Needs to have different doctors come to patients rather taken them out of facility. Has transportation but only for immediate town.

Husband suddenly deteriorated and had to have him admitted quickly. Brookdale was VERY cooperative and am happy so far.

Assisted living only. No independent living, so not for us. Beautiful location with views in an upscale housing subdivision.

Very nice place, residents looked happy and healthy, but high rate for 1 bedroom. Very small kitchenette compared to other places.

We really liked Brookdale and thought that the accommodations were very nice. It's been awhile, and things start to blend together, but our overall impression was a very good one. They have a secure protected outdoor patio that I think my Father would like very much. They are the only place we have toured that has this asset. Their programs sound good and their staff seemed kind and helpful. Costs were in the average to medium high range. Good value for the cost.

I was impressed with [name removed] who showed compassion and shared her own personal experience with us regarding her own personal experience regarding her fathers care with an in home provider. I have been hesitant regarding in home care for my dad and know that it will be to his benefit for assisted living. I really liked the facility and being close to capital medical center. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly, and helpful. It will be at the top of our list.

The facility was inviting, the director knew all the residents we passed in the hallways. There is an onsite Activities Director. Place feels home. Studio available was sterile. One bedroom available was nicer.

It met several of our requirements and was a nice room.

Pretty clean inside, although carpet in common areas is well worn and needs replacing. Mold on outside of building in garden area, needs pressure cleaning. Sidewalks in cottage area Need pressure washing. Other than basic maintenance it seemed like a pretty nice facility. No smells, clean.

Mom really liked this facility and found it quite comfortable. She isn't quite ready for assisted living but felt this was a good option when she was less independent.

Smaller room number facility all on one floor, I like that configuration and size. Room sizes okay, but need a one bedroom plus size. Nice layout and dining area seemed like it had a friendly atmosphere. Really liked the large exercise gathering area. Cost value proposition reasonable.
