Brookdale

I have been happy living here at Brookdale during my first 3 months when it was fully active. People were warm and friendly, comfortable apartments, great activities, good dining, and transportation. Since the shutdown due to COVID-19 10 weeks ago it has been very isolating with long days. The staff has been wonderful and have done a great job keeping us safe. I am looking forward to walking outside again.

Overall, the community was clean, although sometimes we thought my mother's room could be cleaner. The staff was very friendly. They were good with communicating about my mother's care. Having eaten there a couple times, the food was pretty good. I would come in at different times a day and the activities staff always seemed to have things going on like memory quizzes or bingo or live entertainment.

Except for the quarantine, everything is fine. I moved in last September 2019. For the first six months, it was great. Nice staff, nice building, great apartment, and great service. Then we spent 2 months in quarantine. We were not allowed out of our apartments, even to walk on the grounds. Every time we were about to get out there would be another case. We had to stay in even though there was no way we oud have caught anything because we had already been in quarantine. Some of the staff members said that if we didn't like it we could leave! Being told to leave was offensive. It also sometimes seemed like we were being treated like children, "Go to your room." Other senior living places allowed residents to go out on the grounds even when in quarantine. I know the staff is trying to keep us safe, but keeping in for 2 months isn't good for either our physical or mental health.

The care-givers at Brookdale are warm, friendly and respectful to the residents. The staff shows a lot of care and attention to the residents and is responsive to me as a family member. The activities and food are good. The activities staff does a good job getting the residents to participate in the activities. As far as value, Brookdale is a good value for the care that they are offering. Recently, they found no one at the community tested positive for Covid-19, which is a credit to the safety procedures and diligence of the staff. I am surprised by the lack of coordination between the outside medical providers and the Brookdale team. The Brookdale nursing staff did not know which doctor had prescribed Mom's medication. The outside physician who visit residents every 2 weeks was recommended to us by Brookdale. Although my sister is Mom's health care surrogate and medical power of attorney, the outside physician did not contact her and did not return her calls and emails for 2-3 weeks. During this time, Brookdale staff would not give us the contact information of the outside physician who Brookdale had recommended.

Except for the food preparation and quality, Brookdale has been a good choice for us. We have lived here for 4 yrs and until the pandemic, life has been enjoyed. The staff is always polite and helpful and they deserve gratitude and accolades for all they do for us. We are thankful.

This facility was chosen by my 2 youngest children, a daughter who lives about a mile away and a son in Bromfield, CO. I had no input as I lived in Stafford City, VA in a 55+ single-family house. I was turning 80 and decided to sell, then move to a facility for seniors in that area. My oldest child lived about 3 miles away and 4 hr drive south in VA. Son decided to move here because the local daughter did a lot of travel for work and he didn't want me to that far from any family.

They take very good care of all of us, especially during the pandemic. I love my washer and dryer in my apartment. I love all the activities, when we can participate.

This critique has been on my desk for the longest. I find everything here agreeable. The management is very professional. The staff does a good job and they are helpful. The food is much better than average, in fact is it good. This facility deserves a very good rating.

The community was clean when I saw it and everything seemed to be in order. The staff is friendly and very accommodating with any questions. They are pretty responsive.

We signed the contract and two days later my friend had a stroke and needed hospice. I called Brookdale and let them know that she would not be moving in. They wanted to bill me from the day I signed the contract to the day she died plus an additional 7 days. She never moved in. I understand paying for the days they held the room but not the extra days. I finally go it worked out after I spoke with the national office. It was a horrible experience

The community is immaculate and I have been impressed I believe that the care is top notch. They take time to care for the residents. They take care of her when i am working and I know that she is safe. At the moment, they keep in touch and inform me of changing needs and costs involved. Financially it's challenging because it's expensive there but it is well worth w it. You do get a lot of bang for the buck. I chose this for location and the immediate availability. My mom has meet some friends, which is good for her and she is happy.

My mom loves the food, and she has even gained weight. She enjoys the activities. She gets along with the staff well. The care is good. There has been significant staff turnover since being there, which I am hoping will be for the best. The building and apartments are very nice. I like the lay out of her apartment and she has a door leading to outdoor enclosed courtyard, which is one of the reasons why we chose this community. It is a very quaint, smaller community which we liked, so, she isn't lost in the shuffle.

The resident servers are very helpful and compassionate.

The biggest plus is the staff,they know all the residents by name, they know all the family by name. They are taking good care of my family. Room sizes are a little small. Outdoor space is average. They have an courtyard. We were told there were more activities then there ended up being. My parents are pretty active and would like more activities. I feel it is clean and I feel my parents are safe.

Before moving here I evaluated 14 different and competitive establishments and have since looked at several others. This Brookdale Parkplace was, for me and still is, the best value for the money.

I'm very comfortable and content living at Parkplace. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, I am especially glad to be living here. I feel that every effort has been made to keep us safe and healthy. We are protected and all precautions have been fully employed. The staff is wonderful! They are considerate, helpful, accommodating, and pleasant. Our names preferred menu items and beverages. The food is plentiful and good for a large institution. The management is cordial and available.

Brookdale Parkplace is a tight-knit, well managed senior community that provides excellent support both for seniors wanting independent living and also for those who need more intense care including memory care. The staff members are diligent, committed, and kind in their interactions with the residents.

My daughter did the visiting to several Denver facilities since I was moving here from out of state. I was not able to compare, but her choice was here which I thoroughly approved. I am happy here, needs are adequately met.

Brookdale has been great. They have been very attentive to my mother. The food is ok most of the time, but lately it has been particularly bad we think as a result of Covid-19. There has also been a lot of staff turnover as well. The care is ok as well. They do seem a little disorganized, which has caused a problem with medication coordination in the past. Getting billing disputes resolved has also taken a long time, almost 6 months.

The residents and the staff were very friendly. There were a lot of activities offered, and many residents participated, but my mother wasn't a joiner. The community was beautiful, clean, and kept up. The apartments were a great size with beautiful and large bathrooms. The food wasn't great, it was pretty disappointing. We all liked the community but our mother wasn't happy living in an assisted living.
