Brookdale

It's small and quaint. It's quiet. The staff are friendly. The two cooks are wonderful and make delicious food. When we went to tour the facility, the cook made a homemade apple pie for us to take home. Just as a Thank You for stopping by. Because it is small, they don't have a lot of in house amenities but for my dad, it was just right.

My mother fractured a vertebrae and we needed a place for her to stay while she recuperated. The Brookdale team was very friendly and helpful and made the transition and getting Mom moved in much easier and less stressful than it could have been. We had a couple of issues with miscommunications and lack of follow-up from the care team, and Mom was less-than-enthused about the meals offered, but overall I feel it was a good experience and a good place to live with many activities offered, a nicely-maintained facility, and a helpful and responsive staff. She liked the room, liked many of the staff helpers, and it was a godsend for us when we needed it.

It's a great place and my mother adapted quickly to being there. Some (not all) of the aides were a little lazy about getting her out of the wheelchair and onto the sofa or chair during the day. Others just sat around talking on the phone or filing their nails. I understand doing it when you've got down time but it doesn't look good when clients who are paying a large amount of money are seeing this happening. Most of the staff were great and it was just a couple who obviously didn't want to be at work.

They might look at staffing. My mother's call button has been ignored a couple of times because staff was serving meals. Other than that, it has been great. I had the opportunity to move her recently to a cheaper facility, but she loves where she is

My mom moved in to Brookdale N Gilbert recently. Her health was declining and as a family we couldn't be there as often as we wanted. The staff at Brookdale N Gilbert was amazing and helped her feel at home and get settled quickly. Thank you!

It's a fairly quiet facility. I would suggest people observe more of what goes on vs just getting a tour to see how staff interact with residents.

The staff is very attentive to the residents and their family. I would recommend to others.

encourage clients to look at MC and not just AL. Ended up moving her to memory care after just a couple of months. in retrospect touring MC should have been more on my radar. Appreciate Brookdale has. With AL and MC. That definitely made navigating these big changes so much easier. And I fell better knowing my mom helped pick Brookdale, which in turn made the transition to MC work as well as could be.

The facility itself is very nice, the staff and management are very good, and my Dad seems happy there. They haven't been perfect (which would be a 5), but not much in this world is.

I get discouraged by the rate increases for care. The costs just keep going up, up, up. I also feel that they are understaffed at times. They have filled the rooms to capacity but not increased staff. They have had staff turn over and had temporary employees but that is so difficult on the dementia patients. The staff that are there in the mornings when I'm there do work hard and truly care about the residents.

Brookdale is a beautiful facility. [name removed] is resistant to doing some of the activities but the staff encourages her to take part. She doesn't like to eat so food has been an issue for her. We think the meals look wonderful! At almost age 98 she just likes to sleep a lot

Our loved one feels safe there and has been able to make friends fairly easily. The food menu is pretty varied.

My mom is happy/content at Brookdale, Sleepy Hollow. The staff are kind to her and she likes the food (especially the desserts). In my opinion they don't have enough activities, and oftentimes the ones they do have scheduled, don't get done. I also wish they would make more an effort to get my mom to attend the activities - saying "Hey, let's go down here and see what's going on" instead of reminding her and walking out. She had dementia- she's not going to remember. She spends a lot of time in her room. Also, the medical care is subpar in my opinion. My mom needs the primary care doctor to take the lead on her multiple current diagnoses and he hasn't/ doesn't seem to care/know what's going on with some of the specialty care.

I have lived at Brookdale Oak Park for nine years and I believe it has extended my life. By having good friends, food, socializing, making friends and activities of all sorts. The staff at Brookdale Oak Park are helpful, thoughtful and remembers the residents names.

I introduced Brookdale to the POA for the ultimate resident. My contact was introductory. I found that they tried hard to match economic situation of the client in consideration of initial services required. The facility appears a solid average in appearance and maintenance. There were a couple of weak spots but I think they were trying to get improvements in place. I never ate there but the published menu was a solid average for institutional meals. Activities and amenities were good enough. The person I helped get placed there needed a lot of assistance for the first 6 months but became stronger and wanted more so she relocated to an [community removed](I heard). I found site management to be effective.

The staff were attentive and the food was excellent. My friend and I attended church services there and it was very comforting.

Our mother has lived at Brookdale for several years and we are very pleased with the treatment she has received. The staff have always been wonderfull! Mom enjoys the meal and says they are delicious. The activities look like so much fun and very creative! Of course bingo is still a favorite for everyone. Brookdale has been wonderful for mom and has made her life so much better.

Staff is usually quite attentive to my aunt. The PA, [name removed], and the nursing staff is very good with her and ensure our directions are followed. The lady at the desk keeps an eye out for her as well and ensure her friends who come to visit have an enjoyable time without a gentleman who is not always happy to see my aunt have visitors. He has his own issues. The room is kept clean. My aunt seems to go to most activities though she doesn't remember them but the evidence is all over her room. She also likes the food. She likes to sit outside with other people.

The staff is great. My dad was only there a short time, so I didn't get to know many of them, but they were extremely helpful and patient.

Get everything in writing and keep track of everything to fight for what you were promised.
