Brookdale

The staff helped tremendously during the transition period when our mom moved in. They learned her interest and engage with her to help calm her when she wants to go home. She has adjusted and reports she is happy and she has fun at Brookdale. That eases our worries and makes us kids happy!

They know each staff by name. The directors are amazing. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience

They are taking great care of mom, helping with fall prevention, and offer services a la carte which I really appreciate. They could improve on communication.

The facility is very nice and very well-maintained. The price is very reasonable in my opinion for the quality. The staff are very caring and helpful. The only reason that I would not give a 5 is the lack of response time for maintenance requests as well as housekeeping.

I thought they did fine. The assistant administrator left, maybe got fired, as Mom was transitioning to the facility so they were one person short in the administration area but we didn't have any problems with it. The staff was very pleasant. Mom was only there 10 days but we were happy with the place. Everyone did a good job and were very caring.

A very diverse group, it seems like they have different age groups with different with challenges. Very friendly staff. We have had a pretty good experience there. If I had to say anything, I would say room cleaning service. Vacuuming. Floor cleaning. They are great at trash removal. My father in law is still not happy, but I don't think it's anything to do with them, he just doesn't want to be anywhere but home, which won't happen because of his health. I wish they could push him into joining more actives.

One thing I like about Brookdale is they do not have a big turnaround at all most everybody has been there since my mom's been there and I like that

The staff are excellent, they understand memory issues. They are patient and take time with an individual that may be having a difficult time. The facility has multiple activities everyday to keep the residents busy and involved with their community.

The residence is well maintained and the staff is wonderful. Very caring and patient. I would recommend to others. My in laws actually moved into Brookdale Spruce Wood in [time frame removed]. They have been extremely happy except for maybe the meal

A lot of confusion about what personal items were needed and the receptionist often called with a list from the resident before checking with staff. my aunt usually stayed more in her room

Definitely ask questions, talk to staff. We are on a first name basis with a lot of the staff. It takes 6 months or more for family member to get acclimated, but staff encourages involvement.

Food is EXCELLENT. Homemade from scratch- excellent variety and quality. My loved one talks about the food constantly. The Staff has been very attentive.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, and very available to answer my questions. Unfortunately, there has been a complete turnover in staff since my mom has been there for approximately only one year. I experienced one staff member that was clearly frustrated at her job and she left soon after that, but in general, everybody else has been friendly and easy to work with. People who work there tell me nice things about my mom and recently sent me some photos of her during activities.

Special note on value. Mother in law received a monthly discount of $[fee removed] because we signed the contract during an April promotion. Note on activities: facility has lots of activities. MIL physical limitations restrict her ability to participate.

Place is often understaffed. They have been known to forget to feed the bedridden. It's unfair to not mention the several assistants that are caring, patient and professional

My husband was there only a few days under Hospice. The staff was professional and kind. And took a lot of care during his last days. Hospice was good but the Brookdale staff took the lead. I would absolutely recommend them.

I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and always smelled fresh. It was easy for me to feel that they cared about my mother and did their best to meet her needs. The staff was always willing to answer questions and help in any way. The meals were delicious--it was the first time in a long time that my mother ate regular, good meals.

Overall care is good. Staff very helpful except for a few. Food service falls short as meals are served cold or lightly warm and very little variety. Management easy to talk to regarding all concerns.

[name removed] t the director warrants a 5. The food does not look very appealing to me but my husband has contained a healthy weight. Staff has worked hard to engage my husband in their activities but he has not been receptive. Seems SO expensive but I think it's competitive for Bend. Thank heavens we have long term health care insurance but it covers less than half the fees. ($[fee removed]) towards almost $[fee removed]/month). Tough to keep staff I would guess. Very tough job.
