Brookdale

I think the water gets a bit muddied by it being "independent living" yet so many people seemed to need care. The care offered needed to be hired to come in or we could utilize the services of a group of aides there at Brookdale who were also paid via the residents. Most aides were kind and loving, but these folks are not actually trained (i.e. certified as CNAs.) I have been able to see the difference in this after having utilized St. Camillus for Rehab for my Mom, and now, [community removed]. Housekeeping was included in apt. fee. However, the schedule was not adhered to. Either the day was changed or there wasn't any service at all. Obviously, those workers were also not well-trained, either. Bedding was never properly folded and beds were rarely neatly done. My mom's complaint was about seating arrangements. She didn't like assigned seating. She often ended up having her food delivered to her room (for a fee.) This became a hardship after my Dad died and she needed some time to grieve. A plus=meals and kitchen staff were wonderful. Activities were, likewise, great. For those who are more independent it's a great place. The management had tried to accommodate in ways they could. It should probably be said that if a resident has difficulty with x, y or cannot do x, y or z, the community may not be the best fit. Even some assisted living facilities say that a person needs to be continent, for example.

One is the support from the staff not just for the resident, but also the families and the opportunity for family involvement. Mostly it is the way the community is warm and inviting. After being some place else there is a definite difference in the way the community feels from the time you walk through the door.

Some of the problems stem from the fact that the Administration was all fired and new ones hired. All seems OK now. The staff are all very friendly and my Mom likes it there.

my sister really liked when I cooked the past 7 months. Activities so far, [name removed] is still getting used to the place. Likes the exercise class right down the hallway everyday. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

What we like most about the community is that there are a lot of actives for the residents, Administrative staff and aides are patient with residents. Yes, we would recommend Brookdale Muirfield to other families based on the experience so far.

The room looked very nice. They had to paint, new kitchenette counter tops and new carpet. Shelves were not put in cabinets. The size was adequate. Mom enjoys food and said portion sizes more than enough for B,L and supper. Staff very nice and responsive Common areas appear to me ,need some painting - My opinion.

The staff all work very hard every day and do their best to keep us comfortable, safe, happy and informed. There are a variety of daily activities to enjoy such as 4-5 different exercise sessions, movies, gaming, bus outings, brain exercises, happy hour, music, and the newest, line dancing. They also provide transportation to appointments, shopping, etc. The dining staff work so hard as well to provide "fine dining ". It often has its problems but they do their best to fix things. There are plenty of meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday there's a huge buffet.

They are very kind and patient with the residents and it has a home-like atmosphere. I would recommend it.

It is pleasant, clean and the staff were pretty attentive and the food was good. The layout of the facility gives the residents plenty of space. This opinion is based on a rather limited time frame as they could not handle my wife's "aggressiveness", although they assured me before admitting her that they were fully trained and experienced with all behaviors.

The people that work there are very caring and treat the residents like family. They are chronically short-staffed and that has impacted the dining times but they make do. There are lots of activities and opportunities to connect with others every day. I would worry about increasing costs without improved services or food. But, it is really nice, smells good, lots of smiles

Overall experience was great from onboarding to the living quarters, activities options onsite, tours/trips offsite to the restaurant food options to the staff members and medication handling. The contact with myself as the proxy was in real time if we had and questions and the off boarding when Mom exited was seamless.

The staff was very caring to my family member. They were kind and took good care of her physically. Though she was the type of person to avoid group activities. They ensure that she had some time with the group each day to prevent loneliness. Her room was very nice. It was freshly painted and updated before she moved in. The size was good. She had more than enough space for everything she needed.

They are friendly, but like most facilities, they are short of help, especially on the weekends.

The staff are great. They take great care to see that everything is going well, and go the extra mile. The food is ok, my mom has struggled a bit with it, but I think part of it is the stress associated with packing everything up and moving. I am hopeful once things are completely unpacked and she settles in that things will improve.

Food is really good and they have an indoor pool

[name removed] was very kind, helpful and informed. Residents seem content and well cared for. I love the activities that are avaliable.

The staff is excellent, but need more of them, and leadership is highly involved. I would recommend this facility to others who are searching for care for their loved one.

Location is key for me. The facility needs a paint job and repairs to inadequate HVAC units in the apartments.

My husband was only in the Memory Care Community for 5 weeks It appeared to be a good for him . The staff was super pleasant to us. My husband appeared to have adjusted to his new surroundings. The unit appeared to be well organized The transition into the facility was easy.

I truly enjoyed working with a place for mom. They did a wonderful job. Everyone worked hard for my mom and myself. Thank you for all that you did for my and my mom. She really loves Booksdale. She is happy which makes me happy.
