Brookdale

I'd say overall the staff is attentive and do a good job of caring for my mom. The activities have really seem to help my mom with her depression in that she has to get up from bed everyday, so she’s not laying around thinking negatively all the time. She has a few ladies that protect her there, so she's made friends. It's been the best thing for her and the entire family.

Staff is great. Plenty of activities. Apartment size is great. The facilities are clean. There is always a variety of options for meals but the food isn't very appealing. Some strange combinations. Not sure where the recipes come from but strange mixes such as baked chicken breasts with a heavy coating of yellow mustard or extremely overcooked macaroni with processed cheese that was cooked until it separated. It was like wallpaper paste. The meats are usually overcooked & dry. Crazy use of spices. Baked sweet potatoes are usually cooked until they are burned & bitter.

Lovely place. Very welcoming and clean!! . Would definitely recommend to other senior couples

Staff is great, very friendly. There was a bit of a delay because the original apartment had issues. But they made it right by getting my Mom a fully upgraded one and moved her to the new apartment. I would recommend the community to others.

For the most part the staff is friendly and helpful. There does seem to be some friction between the Brookdale nursing staff and the hospice staff coming from the Brookdale side. The food is good. Everyone is kind to me and my mother. I do notice the cleanliness of the room could be better. Small pieces of trash on the floor that I keep picking up during my visits. Not a lot but consistently. Also I have noticed several things are under the bed, mainly socks and trash.

Because, although the people were super nice, nurses, etc, the administration was slow with financial information. I would recommend to others.

Initially I WOULD HAVE GIVEN Brookdale a 4/5 thru the last six months they have improved communication ns in the nursing and housekeeping. Overall Great place for your Loved one!

The staff are very attentive, and my mom really enjoys the food and activities. Overall, we've had a positive experience, and I would definitely recommend this Brookdale location to others.

Most of the people are very nice (especially at the front desk), but it's over-priced for what is provided. Food is not as advertised "from scratch" or even that tasty, very few drink selections, activities director and guy in charge of laundry are not kind or loving. Resident laundry and room cleaning is not done consistently every week as promised. Residents seem ok with it, but I think the staff is just overworked and don't have time for caring for or enjoying the residents.

Staff was great. Food was ok. Didn’t do any activity so don't know. Was only there 3 weeks Place was clean and room was very nice. Yes I would recommend.

Overall, we have found the facility/care to be good. We have been disappointed that when our loved one was taken to the hospital on a Friday night, we were not notified until the hospital called us at 6:50am on Saturday morning to come and pick her up bc Brookdale did not have staff to pick her up. We feel we should've been called when she was taken by ambulance on Friday night to know she was taken and that they were unable to then pick her up to return to Brookdale. We believe this should be part of her coverage. Also, one nurse has called (within the first 3 months) to say we needed to look for an alternate facility as our loved one was in an altercation with another resident over a baby doll. While we understand this is definitely disruptive for the facility, we also know that there is a "settling period" for the new resident as well. The nurse also talked to us once when we were visiting to ask if we had found an alternate facility. She said she was looking as well. Her comments concerned us about the care our loved one was receiving if the staff is try to have her moved. Good points: The meals always look delicious and she seems to enjoy them all She is always clean and groomed Residents seem to respect each other and generally get along Staff is patient with residents when talking with them

Its been a learning experience since [date removed]. We must have judged some things in the beginning. However I think Brookdale could be more informative on details, especially when its a new comer. My mom is treated well, she and others think the food could be better. Its is a nice facility and kept clean. They upgraded the dining hall with new furniture. I think overall its going good.

We recently got our neighbor of 20 years a place there. She lost her home and has fallen several times. The staff and other residents seem very nice and willing to help her. She has a small room but seems to like it and the place so far. I would recomend to others.

Overall the staff is attentive. The facility and apartment are clean. The food is mediocre. I think it is one of the best options in Odessa. our needs have increased and we had to call in hospice.

The overall experience was fine. Mom liked the food and the staff was attentive and kind.

Professional, peaceful and the food was very good. Only thing that I seen as negative was that the floors / carpets looked dirty.

The staff and caretakers are great. They are special people to do what they do. It took my loved one awhile to settle in but they are finally participating in activities and is enjoying the social aspect. The food and communication at times could use improvements, but the facility is kept very clean and organized. It is a safe place for family members to go and spend time with their loved ones.

Staff/care are great. Activity is just ok. I don't know much about the food because I am not there with my aunt. Cleanliness and apartment size are great.

We like the staff a lot, we like the facility overall and the room she got (nice corner room, lots of light), and the fact that they have activities is big for us. Food seems to be to her liking as she is eating regularly. We love the way they make sure everyone knows/stays on the schedule for meals, and have yet to find any member of the staff whom we felt were not measuring up.

All the staff seem nice, there is a nice selection of activities to choose from, food is good. Room and building are clean. I would like to see better up keep with the walkways, especially since so many tenants use walkers, etc.
