Brookdale

Before taking my Mom and stepfather to visit Raleigh-area Assited Living facilities, I did a thorough research of what the various companies and area facilities had to offer. Mom immediately expressed her delight that this facility felt "COZY". By the end of our tour, luncheon, and a thorough discussion with the sales rep and director about what we could expect, our parents had made up their minds. It is expensive, especially with the two of them as residents, but Carolina House has also been very helpful in getting the ball rolling to establish a VA Trust that will reduce their monthly costs significantly, since step-dad is a WWII vet. We feel very comfortable having them there. And Mom announced recently that in the 8 weeks they have been residents there, she has not heard a single harsh word from ANYONE on the staff. What more could we ask?

This is a good place with great staff. Dana Riggs, Sales Mgr is a hoot and truly loves her job and the facility. All the care givers are helpful and show people the respect the deserve. I enjoy this facility for the atmosphere and the location to our family. They help monitor my mom since she has 24x7 oxygen needs and medical issues that prevent her from living by herself. It's difficult for her being younger than the rest of the residence, but she has steadily been making friends. I give HB 4.5 stars simply because the carpet needs repaired/replaced in some of the common areas.

My brother and I are very appreciative of the care our mother received at Brookdale's Clairebridge Unit. It is a small unit - very quiet and controlled which is just right for someone suffering from dementia. The staff were caring, respectful, and helpful.

Clare Bridge Place in Brookfield is a beautiful property with a professional staff. Our loved one was a difficult challenge at first, but the staff had patience and recognized medical needs that helped him adjust. We are extremely pleased with care given.

Wynwood is a wonderful place. The staff are friendly, the place is very homey, and they provide excellent care.

This is a great place , the care givers and nurses are wonderful. I feel confident in the abilities of the people who work at Clare Bridge of Valparaiso and I am extremely grateful for the care they provide to my dad.

It's very nice place for those who just need assistance but not memory care. My chorus performs there twice a year so I've had a change to see the community a few times. It's actually a two story place and very well maintained They don't cater to memory care but if you need some assistance with things like meals, cleaning, cooking, etc., but you're still pretty active, this is a nice place. My mom needed a little more help so we had to go with another place.

The activities have gotten better since mom first moved there. They got a new activities director and there are a lot of new things going on. There is karaoke, a sock hop the other night, and lots of outings planned. They're even getting feedback from the families as far as what we thing they would enjoy. The new director is a lot more involved and interested in hearing new ideas. They have a whole new landscaping thing going on where they're getting the residents involved with planting and watering and feeding birds. It's really pretty cool. Overall satisfaction is good. She's safe and protected. The food is actually pretty good, maybe a little bland. They're making some improvements like making their rooms more homey. We're working on getting special traditions/decorations for the holidays. There are a lot of new things happening that are going to add to the overall atmosphere. I would definiley recommend it

The care is very very good. There's been a little glitch in that we didn't know that we had to make arrangements for this and that. We didn't know that they charged for transportation. They do have a ride available if you need to go to the doctor or something like that but we didn't know there was a $100 charge for it. We won't do that again because now we know. They have very very good activities. They send us a calendar every month so we know what's available for my father-in-law. It's good because it's Alzheimer's so he doesn't think there's anything going on because he can't remember. They're really good at communicating with us.

We interviewed a couple of place and daddy needed a lot of care and there were only a couple of places that could do it. We had it narrowed down to 2 and the room was a little bigger at Sterling House. My only experience is with Sterling House so I really don't have a comparison, but we were and we still are comfortable with mom being here because of the security. This was a secured facility where the other one, the door was open so you could walk in and I assumed the residents could walk out as well.

This just had so much more going for it, like the restaurant, we only ate there once but it was a full service thing, it was out of her price range, nicer facilities, the rooms are larger. Overall, it was a little larger, a little nicer but a larger price tag.

I looked at Emeritus for my mom and I liked that place because she could walk out in the garden on her own. My mom really likes the garden. I'm still maybe considering moving here there. We'll see how she's doing in the spring. Where she is now they have a garden but someone has to let her out. At Emeritus she could just go out on her own.

Great staff, good food, plenty of activities for a fairly active client base. Fair size rooms with central air rather than wall units.

Chancellor Place has been wonderful! They have been so kind and considerate with my mom. My mom has full cognizance. But even with the other residents that are more lacking in cognizance they seem very kind. I thank Natalie for al her help! Sincerely, Carol Jacques Daughter

Brookdale Place opened their arms to my mom. They are making sure that she stays active to be better able to socialized with other people. There nurses are caring and make mom feel "at home". She has said that she thinks she is on vacation.

From what I've seen, and I've looked at a bunch of places and this was the best. I haven't been totally impressed, it's the best I've seen. Having said that, there's no place around here wouldn't be higher than a 3. It's one of the more expensive places, I would say it's interesting that when you first get there you get a lot of attention but then there have been consistent things that have been lacking attention. For example, he has hearing aids and they keep them in a cart at night because he loses them and we have never arrived when he has them in, we have to go find someone with the cart. I went in there once and my father was in a church service and it was one of the msot pathetic things I've ever seen, I don't think there's been any activities that have been meaningful for him. They said they would take him to the thrift stores around there and we would give him some money to go because he enjoys that but so far it hasn't happened.

Could not be more pleased with The Sterling House in Columbia, TN. as the new home for my sister.

It's a small community of 55 residents so it has a high ratio of staff to residents. The response time is really good whenever she pushes her call button. The food is good and in my experience the people are lovely to deal with. We really don't have a complaint.

My mom hasn't been there very long but it's going very well so far. The girls are wonderful, they really are. I think it's expensive although my mother really likes it. Sometimes she rings the buzzer and no one came for a little while and I know that's going to be the same anywhere. There is never going to be one on one care and with out that you're always going to have to wait. I understand that and I think my mother is starting to understand that when she needs to go to the bathroom she needs to ring the buzzer earlier. The people could not be any nicer. They have a lot of activities and a lot of the people seem to participate in them. They have a beauty shop on site and she likes that. They're very good about keeping me updated and arranging physical therapy for her there. There is a doctor that comes in to see her too. They do provide free transportation too. I'm really pleased with the place. Everything's been good so far. It's like visiting a hotel. It's very clean and there is never a smell. Her room is well maintained.

We looked at this place for my mother. It is an excellent place. Probably the facilities itself, of course they're newer, and they were better but their Alzheimer's unit was a little too free for what we needed for my mother.
