Brookdale

I have nothing to say but wonderful things about Brookdale Glen Ellyn, IL. We had my father in Brookdale initially and then relocated him to be closer to his children. We returned him to Brookdale because he did not receive the care he received at Brookdale. Outstanding community run by compassionate staff!

Very nice!! the list of activities, and the fact that they have daily bible study, would be something my mom would be interested in. However, even with the Veterans Assistance, I doubt seriously that we could afford to place my mom here. She would love it, but even selling her home, would only allow her to live there no more than 3 years, and then what? we would be out of money

The tour was so good yesterday and mom fell in love with the room. Perfect for her and her small dog. Already said yes to the place.

Very happy with community. Their efforts for our family are commendable. The move was hard for everyone, but everything has settled and dads doing good and we feel a lot better. Special kudos to [name removed] and [name removed]. Food is real good and nutritious and place is clean and friendly.

My mom has just been at Brookdale Brookfield for a couple of weeks, and in that short time, she has been welcomed, encouraged, and supported as she makes this transition to Assisted Living. We are all pleased with Brookdale!

Extremely nice facility. Of the four facilities we visited, it was probably our favorite. [Name removed], in the reception area, is an absolute gem, making one feel welcome on first contact. Loved the size and layout. Suspect this would have provided the most personalized program for Mom.

I loved the facility and [name removed]. We are going to look into a medical review at this facility to take the next step.

My mother in law lived at Collin Oaks for almost four years after a short stay at our house. I quickly learned I couldn't take care of her. But, the staff at Collin Oaks did and it well! I highly recommend you visit with their wonderful team.

Mom didn't think she needed to be in a community like this at this time in her life. We, here family new it was time. She has only been there a few weeks and she is looking and feeling better than ever. She enjoys the social activities and is participating in more and more of them. The staff is friendly and welcomed her warmly on her first day there. If you have any questions or concerns they are there to answer or correct them quickly. We, her family, could not have asked for a better place for her.

Brookdale La Crosse is the perfect place for my mother. The environment is clean & welcoming. Plenty of places to sit & chat with new friends or visiting family members. We had the freedom to decorate, add blinds, curtains, large screen TV (she has very bad eyesight), a bird feeder outside her window & shelving to make her new space “home”. After 4+ weeks, my mother has adjusted nicely. She used to live independently in a 2 bedroom apartment with a deck overlooking the river. A very big change for her! More importantly now, she has the freedom to “roam” independently with her walker throughout the facility. The only improvement that I can think of is more specific communication with the family in the first 2 weeks. Who to call during what shift, somewhere to have written communication with the staff with questions or suggestions, the time meals are served everyday, who contacts are for things like the salon, maintenance issues (ex: cold bathroom), hours the buildings are locked for security etc. I know the staff is busy, but I believe a more efficient way of communicating is necessary. I don’t want to waste anyones time trying to get/relay information.

Our mother strongly resisted moving out of her home for years. Now she is happy living at Brookdale Mentor and glad she made the move. Everyone is so friendly & calls her by name, the food is good, she enjoys activities and fellowship with other residents and loves that her 2 cats can be with her. And we are all so relieved that she’s now living in a kind and safe environment.

The staff is amazing and really do care about the residents. This place fits my moms needs better than any place in our community.

My mother's transition to this facility has been wonderful. She has been there almost 60 days. Communication has been very good with all staff levels. There has been great care and even more caring. As a nurse I have observed sincere caring for all residents. She is in a memory care unit and their compassion and caring for a difficult population is above reproach. I can't say enough about this facility. They care about the patients and the families.

So far, so good. We have my wife's aunt there. She has been in residence about two weeks. The staff is very attentive to any concerns we have and to our aunt's needs. We have been impressed with the professionalism of the staff and management. They had a program worked out for our aunt to get her socialized and involved in activities from the moment she arrived.

We were very impressed. It is an older facility but well maintained and remodeled. Lots of activities for the residents and you could see them milling about and interacting. The staff was also very courteous and initiated engaging us in conversation. If you're looking for a permanent home for yourself, mom or dad, Brookdale Lake Ridge is a must see!

[Name removed] is amazing! So kind and patient and such a good listener to my Mom and me. The facility is one I would like to move to if I was choosing.

This new home for my father-in-law has been the greatest blessing. After spending time in the hospital and rehab after hip surgery living home alone was no longer an option. My father-in-law has assimilated quickly into the community due to the kind and attentive natures of everyone who works there.

I am overwhelmed with care, in a positive way. I came here for care which I couldn't get in my home. The building is structured in a way that it gives the residents safety. The response time from the staff is very quick. There were occasions I had medical emergencies and the staff is skilled enough to know what do to. The food is extremely good and tasty with plenty of options to choose from. The service is very good! The maintenance and the housekeeping is excellent as well. If there is ever an issue in my apartment, they are fast to fix the problem. For a senior who needs care, I found this community to be an excellent choice.

The grounds and interior of the building were beautifully decorated and always clean. The level paved walking path around the building encouraged outdoor walking. There are amenities like a hairdresser and laundry available. The food was tasty and nutritious, with a great range of choices. Dining felt like going to a nice restaurant. Most importantly, however, were the people at Eddy Pond West. [name removed], the Executive Director was friendly, helpful, and always approachable. He went out of his way to be a support to my Dad and his wife, and to us as a family. He really went above and beyond our expectations when my father’s wife’s condition deteriorated, and her nursing care needs could no longer be met at Eddy Pond. We needed to find someplace that could meet both of their needs. [Name removed]was able to make suggestions for other facilities, even visiting one on our behalf. The staff on the front desk, “the gatekeepers”, were kind, and dealt with the residents with warmth and caring. [Name removed] was a particularly valuable resource. He was observant and knew what was going on with my Dad. They had a special connection because they were both navy veterans. If Dad was lost or talking about heading “home”, [name removed]could talk to him and re-direct him. The dining room staff were particularly wonderful. They knew both my Dad and his wife well and could guide them to their tables and take their orders. They would even provide simple alternatives like sandwiches even if the items weren’t on the menu. When we visited, we were welcome to stay for a meal, but it confused my father if he was taken away from his usual table and friends. The staff handled that situation beautifully. Nursing staff, activity staff and personal care aides were kind, helpful, and knew how to gently redirect and guide my father as his dementia progressed, and as he moved into Memory Care. Although he was only in Memory Care about a month before he moved on, we could see that the care on that floor was empathetic and compassionate. Our family would like to thank Eddy Pond for their great care and would recommend it to other families.
