Brookdale

I would tell others that if your parents are in need of assisted living, look into Brookdale, they are amazing! I have already recommend people to go to the community. My mom is happy here, and enjoys the food and other residents.

It's a very open, very comforting place. It feels like an old Victorian home. The people that I've met have all been very nice, and it seems my loved one has made a lot of friends already. I feel like they offer plenty of activities, but maybe they could improve on getting her to be more active in participating.

I would recommend this community to others based on my experience. The food is good and they have activities for the residents to participate in.

Very nice community - the small size would be a good fit for mom. They also would help with diagnosis, etc. Initially nurse would go to home to assess and then they handle from there.

I distinctly remember the first conversation I had with [name removed] of Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana. I was in a panic. I explained to [name removed] that we were no longer able to properly care for my mother, [name removed], 88 years old, and I didn't know what to do. The thought of dropping my mother off at a "nursing home" seemed sad and cruel, but she quickly explained to me why BGT was not a nursing home. She very quickly talked me off the ledge and gave me a very detailed and accurate description of BGT that made me realize I wasn't alone and she was there to help, so I made arrangements for a tour for the next day. I had already toured 5-6 other facilities and while they were just okay, I wasn't feeling at peace with any of them. When I got to BGT and met [name removed], she immediately put me at ease and gave me a complete tour of the facility. She then took the time to answer all of my many questions, not only about Brookdale, but also about the complete process of transitioning my mother to assisted living. She asked about my mother's favorite food and her hobbies and many other questions about who my mother is. This all helped tremendously. [name removed] was able to answer EVERY question I had accurately and thoughtfully, as well as give me so much more information that I didn't know or had thought about. She did this all with kindness and understanding. [name removed] suggested that I bring my mother over for a tour so I followed that advice. She arranged for Chef [Name removed] to prepare my mother's favorite Italian meal, eggplant parmesan, as well as for her to have lunch with several ambassadors. This was a tremendous success and went a very long way towards putting my mother's mind at ease...as well as my own. The move in process was fairly painless. [name removed] and the rest of the staff helped us with all the information we needed as well as all the information we didn't know we needed. Mom has now been living at Brookdale for about 6 weeks and the transition has been very smooth in every way. She's made friends there and has been enjoying some of the activities. She's told me on many occasions, "Everyone's so nice here. They take good care of me." That's all I need to hear.

I like how they treat their people. They have a general confidence and calm demeanor. No matter how bad my loved one's outbursts, they manage to calm her down and make her feel better when even I can't anymore. They do that very well. My loved one has improved immensely in the short time that she's been there. They've really worked with her. She can be difficult at times, but they've managed to work around that, and she is so much better than she was when she went in.

We toured Brookdale and I really liked it. Mom did not like it as much because it was darker inside and had all dark floors. It does have a nice park. The team was great with follow up.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how consistently good they are across the board. The people that I've interacted with have all seemed very competent and open to phone calls and questions. . They've been very responsive. I expect them to remember my loved one's name, but they even remember my name as well. And they remember things about her and our family, which makes me feel like they pay attention and really care. They seem to truly understand dementia and how to work with her to achieve positive outcomes. The food is fresh and good quality, not all out of a can, which makes me happy. There's some diversity in what they serve as well, so they're not eating the same thing every day. They seem to offer a lot of activities, and I've seen them stop by her room and try to engage her in them. And if she declines, they don't chastise her. They just say "Okay, well maybe next time." They've made a huge accomplishment getting her out of her room and on the exercise bike. And this isn't an activity, but they've also gotten her to bathe consistently, which is a really big deal with her dementia. When we first started there, we told them we felt like she needed OT and PT, and within a week they had that going. They call and give us updates and keep us informed, which we appreciate. Our loved one looks considerably better than she did at the last place. She's stronger and healthier. And she seems to be happy there. I'm so grateful we have the resources to afford this type of care, which costs quite a bit no matter where you go. But I feel like we're getting what we're paying for here.

[name removed] did a great job giving us a tour! She was pleasant, and very patient with my mom and her questions. She was upbeat, and made senior living less scary for mom. We appreciate all the time she took with us!

The residents and staff are super friendly. Everyone has been very approachable and the staff has been attentive. The maintenance team was quick to fix my issues after only a couple of days. I would recommend you go and check the apartment prior to moving in. For the money it is the best value for me. They allow pets in the community.

When my father made the decision to move to Brookdale-Piqua in the [date removed], there was already a strong trust established with this staff. The sales director, executive director, director of nursing, were so informative and thoughtful months before he moved. I had sent photos of how dad wanted his rooms arranged (to look like his home). The staff, especially the maintenance staff, made sure he was comfortable and that he knew he could depend on them. He grew to love the staff and it was obvious that they loved him. He praised their work and devotion. We knew he was safe, happy, and received quality care as we could hear it in his voice. When the facility was open again in the spring, he celectrated his 99th birthday! It was important to him to greet everyone, to join in exercise classes and bus rides. He thought he was 'good for Brookdale'. He was! My family is grateful for these kind caretakers, who are responsible for his positive thinking.

The cottages were a perfect fit for my mom. She’s very concerned about the price difference from where she is now but it was perfect. Kind of far but beautiful.

The community is clean and neat and the staff is very nice. They have activities available for the residents to participate in and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

My Mom has been living at Brookdale North Augusta, SC for quite a few years. All staff there have always been very helpful and caring. I have never had a problem whatsoever. When COVID hit and they went on lock down, it wasn't the best of situations and very frustrating for all involved, but the staff at Brookdale did everything in their power to help make the best of it. There was an IPad available for calls to your loved one, window visitation. While it was a lot of work on their part and frustrating for the families, I am so proud that all that hard work paid off as none of the residents contracted the virus! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone!

Skilled nursing/MC in one building. Nice size rooms. 14 rooms in MC. Nice outdoor space. [name removed] is a great resource. Nice facility.

It is a friendly community, the staff are very helpful. When I approach the staff about a concern they take care of the problem quickly. The staff are patient with the residents when transitioning into the community. The location is very good and off the freeway. It is a nice community, and family is happy our loved one is there. They have a beautiful courtyard., and a nice patio off the dining room for the residents.
