At first they were great and very responsive, but once the care givers that we had established, left for personal reasons, they changed the staff every time, which was disheartening for our elderly parents with Alzheimer's and dementia so they stopped letting people in the house

Lots of new people, some of whom had trouble with English. Everyone tried to be friendly and helpful, except for a few who only paid attention to their cell phones. Quality of care - Mixed. Some were excellent, but one ignored me when I felt very ill. I had to call my own ambulance! Staff was always helpful, but I strenuously disagree with the administration on some of the company's billing practices. It's expensive. I've spent over $[removed]so far. But I don't think other similar services are much cheaper.

The caregivers were not involved with mom, they just sat at the kitchen table.

They could definitely improve on the quality of their care staff. We had some good and some not so good. Some that just didn't show up.

She was very sweet and personable but very poor in cleaning, did the bare minimum. Was very disappointed

I was not impressed with preferred care. I didn't need their minimum days & there was no flexibility.

My father had favorite caregivers but there were definitely ones that lacked personality, and work ethic

Some excellent caregivers. Covering sick calls has been difficult for them. The office is not always responsive to my inquiries in a timely manner. Turnover and caregiver consistent excellence varies greatly. My father is on 2 twelve hour shifts with 24 hour care for a year now. It's hard to get caregivers who engage with my Dad beyond physical care. Our night caregivers have been very good!

The main problem we had with them was excessive caregiver turnover. As soon as my mom got used to someone they would be gone or prohibited from doing enough hours. We finally went private and that had worked better. Some of the caregivers were very good but some were not as experienced, also

The staff and caregivers were friendly, but I did have some serious concerns. For example, the stove was left on more than once, and it became clear that the team didn’t have the experience needed to properly support someone with Alzheimer’s, despite assurances of training. Because of this, I wouldn’t choose to use them again.

Six hour minimum it's too much for me. There was not always contact when there was a change in the caregiver. When we met with the owner, we were assured that their caregivers are well trained to handle dementia clients if they are well trained, they don't exhibit it in the care always.

The only thing I complain about is she was on the phone after just vacuuming she got till time to leave. They were very flexible and worked with me on scheduling and were prompt.

I wasn't at home to monitor them but my brother did keep me updated. I guess i would rate them a 3 or 3.5. On the first day they were supposed to come, the caregiver was late and we weren't notified. We had to call the agency to get an ETA update. There were a couple of shifts where a caregiver didn't show up and again we were not notified and we had to call the agency. Also I requested 2 4-hour shifts per day, instead of one 8-hour shift. The person who signed us up reassured us that it wouldn't be a problem but i got the impression that a straight 8-hour shift would have been preferred. Aside from that, the caregiver did provide the care requested.

First that the care team don't speak English very well, so it was hard to explain the care process for my aunt. Also I don't feel as though they are very well trained or trained at all for that matter --some just seemed like grown up baby sitters. It would be a better idea for Amada care to actually have a process where they have a TRAINING program that these people have to go through and pass before they go into the field. There were only 2 aids that were excellent that I encountered in the months of care with my aunt and that is sad. The rest were rude, grumpy and late. And for the cost of these rude grumpy caretakers I felt like I got scammed.

It has been more than 6 months since we used Home Instead so our experience may be outdated. The staff tended to be young with not much life experience. One didn't know how to cook and was sent to my Mom's house. Some we're too shy to engage in any meaningful conversation with her. Other caregivers we're very nice and had great life skills

I would say you have to stay on top of them with communication (theirs left a little to be desired), be very specific when you have your initial interview about what you want done and how it's done. That is what they use to "train staff"

They didn't seem to have enough caregivers to fill our needs and a few of them were simply unqualified to do basic care or help with meal prep, or even stay off phones and be present w/ the patient.

The administration staff were excellent: Professional, caring and tried to be consistent with staffing help. However the help was not consistent and we went through a number of home helpers. They said they could do light house cleaning and meal prep which did not meet our standards. My mom was quite ill and we had to keep retraining help. It was not a good experience for me as primary caregiver or my mom. We ended the service as it wasn't worth the stress.

That even though you provide specific needs information, the caregivers that are assigned probably cannot do what is needed

Our time with them was short. I didn't get to meet the aide that came to visit my mom but they very quickly realized she was a smoker which is against their values and it didn't last much longer than a few visits. The fact that she smoked was never mentioned in her interview.
