We didn't realize it was a high rise. Would prefer something different.

This place has great physical and occupational therapists but the medical care is horrible. I would never send my loved one back to health care resort of leawood due to a nonexistent doctor who never makes an appearance or returns phone calls, an incompetent nurse practitioner, and nurses that do not have the skills to problem solve and prevent issues from occurring. My loved one's physical condition deteriorated after being here so I would not recommend until they do a major staffing overhaul to bring the medical care on par with the the therapy dept.

There was nobody at the front desk when I arrived for my scheduled tour. I chatted with a resident for 10 or 15 minutes before a gentleman ran down the stairs and out the door. The resident said it was the administrator. That surprised me since he did not say hello to either the resident or myself. A couple of minutes later a woman came downstairs and I asked her if she worked there and she said she was the owner or manager or something. She was in fact the wife of the man identified as the administrator by the resident I was talking with. I said I was there for a scheduled tour and asked where the front desk worker was - she said there was no receptionist for the front desk! This is a great concern, obviously. Anyone can wander in and do what they please. I gave her my name and she said "do I know you from somewhere? Your name is so familiar." I said, "well I had an appointment this morning, so perhaps it's that?" But, nope, she thought she knew my name from somewhere. She gave me a few pages of information and took me on a brief tour. The shower room was humid and the floor was moldy. The whole experience was la bit horrifying. I got a call later in the day from my tour guide and she said she realized that she knew my name because I had scheduled an appointment....wow. If you have a loved one at this facility, please go check on them. I will not be placing my mother here.

I only toured the place. The units have one small, small closet. The refrigerator is really small with no ice maker. And the movie room only has stairs. No ramps. Definitely not a place I would think about.

Good luck getting someone to answer the phone they're very understaffed no one returns your calls they don't assess people correctly so they don't get the care they need very overpriced for what they provide Pharmacy bill is extremely overpriced medicines are ordered that don't belong to the patient or are way too much making me think that it belongs to another patient but my loved one is paying for it and definitely not receiving it such as Tylenol a large quantity ordered twice on the same day. They push loved one out of rehab early and up to Assisted Living when they can't even take care of themselves and I'm seeing Medicare bills for doctors when I know no doctors have been in the room to see this patient in fact this patient was supposed to see a doctor and it's never been scheduled yet they definitely need checked over audited and everything else I know they are new but this is ridiculous

This is a horrible place to take your loved ones. The staff is horrible and doesn't clean the patients very well. Also, don't provide basic care like showers, brushing teeth and etc. Leave patients in urine and don't change the sheets that often. Very unorganized. A patient dies and they fill the room the next day, Staff is very underhanded and two-faced liars. Run far away from this place. Thre deserve a zero in terms of stars.

Really substandard care! My Aunt is there for rehab after a knee replacement. She is mentally disabled. They never return phone calls and nurses are not knowledgeable! Cannot get my Aunt out of their fast enough!

Worst place to have a loved one in, by far. Nurse is never there, the cnas are inexperienced. Food menu is not a well balanced diet, always served cold to patients in memory care. [removed] Management is very manipulative , they are the nicest people when you first go in , once a patient is moved in they change and don't fix problems. Just plain and simple a bad place to place a loved one in.

Under new management patient care is at a new low. I have been in many care facilities and I have never been at a place where there is a culture of doing just enough to get by and no more. Staff is more interested I talking to each other then residents. Bedroom floors are filthy and the hallways smell like urine. Laundry comes back grey. Activities are few... under previous management activities staff did a great job getting people out of there rooms and doing things. My loved one was hospitalized and staff didn't realize she was gone. All this could be changed but management and staff have got to make it happen for benefit of these lovely people.

Only reason they received any stars is because I could not give them 0, and it was clean. But service is horrible and a joke! They should be shut down!

I've never been in such an unsafe and unprofessional environment. My mother has been in the rehab facility twice in the past 3 weeks. Both times, they disregarded the doctors' discharge instructions, necessitating a return to Shawnee Mission Hospital for inpatient care. As a Registered Nurse, I strongly advise getting copies of your doctor's written instructions and medication regimen prior to admission at this facility. Also check with the State of Kansas to see if complaints are on file for any facility you are considering.

It's obvious inside and out that this place isn't maintained. Lights in the parking out and at the patient drop-off locations have been burned out for months. The nurses aides are lazy and rude. My mother-in-law is afraid to irritate them for fear she'll get even less care. Don't bother leaving a message for anyone on the administrative staff because they won't call back. If it wasn't for the location, this would be my absolute last choice in "nursing" home care. If one can afford it, go anywhere else.

This facility used to be a nice place until new management took over. The nurses are overworked, there are no care staff to meet the needs of the residents. many medication errors. The activity program has been cut in half. All for the almighty dollar.

The owners of this place are in it for the money. They treat these residents like they're children! The food is SO HORRIBLE ~ yet complaints are IGNORED! I ate there last night, with my dad. The soup was room temperature, and cold within minutes. The fish was not even room temperature & tasted like it was boiled. The water coming from the tap smells like SEWER!! Dad is 92. They know he's not moving. They don't care about the people living here ~ NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU! It's so sad. Dad has gone from 125 lbs to 92 lbs in 2 yrs.

I would not recommend this place for your loved ones! It's dirty and has very bad reputation everywhere you go. Mostly anyone had anything good to say about it. It's always dirty. They have really nice aids but poor things they are jammed packed with other task to do. Instead of just focusing on giving patient care. If management would only get things straighter out. And worry more about actually giving good care to people.

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I met a storm trooper there, and she has bullied us since we moved in. They insisted, that we hire angel care, so we did and they couldn't help us but still charged us. We have to pass inspection before we are allowed to turn in the keys. I feel like they have pushed to get us to move out since we have got there, well we are leaving. They keep adding on things without asking us. We have never gotten a bill for what they said it would be. They say they are going to do things that don't need to be done, and charge us for it, like an escort to meals. This wasn't a great experience.

When we arrived we were told no one was expecting us and Melina the person who was going to give us the tour was off on Saturday. Despite this, the person in the medicine management room gave us a brief tour. Most of the residents were all sitting out in the lobby in their wheelchairs asleep. Strictly custodial care. This is NOT any place I would place my mother.

My mother-in-law was admitted for physical therapy after a heart valve replacement. The staff was very disorganized, taking a long time to respond to call buttons and forgetting to following up with patient requests. If you MUST place a family member there DO NOT use the resident physician - request your own doctor. If possible REQUEST A DIFFERENT FASCILITY. The staff was slow to respond to family questions. The management is poor and the facility is understaffed with undertrained personnel. Her medicine list was incorrect; this was pointed out but never changed. She was kept so drugged up that she received very little physical therapy. We told the staff to cut back on the pain meds but this was never done. Physical therapy was a group situation where patients were lucky to receive 10 minutes time with the therapist. We tried to her moved to a different facility with no help from their staff. I would never let her or anyone else I know go there.

It's terrible, I would not put a dog here. It looks dirty, the food isn't very appetizing, the nurses don't seem too concerned about their patients and they don't take the time to really talk to them. I wouldn't have put my mom there and I tried to stop it.

A very few good staff workers. My daughter, history of stroke, and post surgery for affected foot fusion, was supposed to be non weight bearing. Some staff told her it was okay to use that foot to transfer for toileting. She was supposed to have a compression sock on opposite foot and it was sent from hospital but she was told "you don't want to wear that thing". I called about medication and food. I was told by [name removed], no records were sent from the hospital. But after bringing her home, I found two copies in her belongings including two med lists. Some of her meds were not even given as prescribed or incorrect dosages given. They never bothered to unpack her things. She was there 10 days and got two cold fried eggs with no salt and pepper with a dry piece of toast for breakfast. When I called I was told they got a menu everyday and got to choose but no one ever gave her a choice. To counter the pain meds, she was given milk of magnesia but would have her bell on for over an hour needing help. There is no one to help with toileting while meal trays are being handed out. There should be a floater for this as that is inhuman to expect patients to hold it for that long. He bones in her foot were fused and she would sometimes wait till she was shaking and in cold sweats for a pain pill. On her follow up visit with her surgeon, who wrote discharge orders, I followed the transport back to the facility expecting to bring her home. I was told their doctor would discharge when he felt enough progress had been made. I feel they just wanted the Medicare money for a longer stay. She was getting limited PT anyway. She signed herself out and I brought her home. Terrible experience for both of us. She had been in a rehab in CA after her stroke for over a month and it was like night and day.
