Brookdale

I try to be part of activities and anything that’s going. I came here to enjoy myself and live a relaxed life. I moved here to be closer to my daughter after my wife passed away. I’ve made some good friends here. I like doing things outside, and going places.

The facility, staff, meals etc are all very good. My only complaint would be it's clear that they are a large corporation driven facility that works great if everything goes to plan, but may not be as flexible at adjusting to individual needs.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Ithaca and overall it's been a good experience. The staff, with one exception, are great. Though there are few certified staff. More residents means more staff and right now there are times when only one is on the floor. The food lacks flavor and is frequently not warm. There is also gristle in the beef. The activities are nearly great.

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Tramway Ridge and overall everything was very good for her at this facility. The cleanliness, friendliness and staff were great, generally speaking.

Overall Brookdale is a caring, good facility. Good activities sometimes. The food has gone from just ok to terrible, no good choices, sandwiches all the time.

Brookdale Las Vegas appears to be the only facility in the area that can give [name removed] the care she needs and allows me to stay with her. Due to Nevada regulations a hospice firm must be involved to augment the Brookdale staff.

I am very happy here. There are always things that could be better. I would be willing to sit down with anyone and discuss overall problems if anyone would like.

Brookdale Southside was the only facility that had a full kitchen and washer/dryer in the apartment. The dining room meals are adequate, but plain. The staff is very helpful and friendly, easy to work with. A weekly newsletter from the Executive Director goes out to the family and residents each week. The costs are low to start, but increase 15% each year. Brookdale Southside is the right place for my mom, just budget a substantial increase each year.

I would say that my experience has been very positive, but more importantly, my mom loves it there. My objective reasons are above for the most part, but subjectively, I had a good feeling about it the few times I visited before moving my mom in.

[name removed] has been great making Brookdale home for my wife before she became a residents and it continued when she became a resident.

For the most part it was good but I have to deduct for the glasses issue. The common areas were always very clean. There were times when my aunt's room clearly had not been vacuumed for a while. Everyone was great! Very caring, thoughtful, and kind to both my aunt and me. A good variety of activities; everyone was welcomed and included regardless of participation. Value for cost hard to rate. Again, aunt was only there 6 weeks and her needs were high so it was expensive. But to rate... I will go with 4.5.

What our family likes the most abut the Brookdale Olympia East community is the staff, they are friendly and kind. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

Ask a lot of questions, there isn't a strong orientation process. Lots of staff turnover, new management. We picked this community because of the location.

The transition has been tough, filled with lots of ups and downs, but Brookdale Ann Arbor has welcomed me

What our family likes the most about the Brookdale Novi community is the staff members they have working there. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

I am a resident at Brookdale Lake Orienta. The managing staff is very knowledgeable of procedures and requirements to make sure that residents' needs and safety are met. The nurses, med techs and CNA's are well trained and as responsive as possible under current difficult staffing conditions. I feel the ratio of medical staff to residents could be higher to be responsive faster. Housekeeping is excellent. I never see trash in the hallways or shared areas and room trash is cleared at least once a day, sometimes twice. There are no foul odors and the carpets and flooring are kept very clean. The linen and laundry service is excellent. The laundry rooms and equipment are kept immaculate and working for residents who do their own laundry. Food service is very good. They have a nice selection of food available in and outside of dining hours and available room service, also. Special occasions such as new resident and birthday luncheons are done well, as well as special dinners for Family Nights and holidays. Many activities are offered to keep the residents busy, challenged and entertained. There is limited driver service for doctor appointments, bus trips to local stores and restaurants, also various escorted outings to local museums, parks, theaters, fund raisers, etc. There are swimming, pool and chair exercise sessions, arts and crafts, games, billiards, an in-house movie theater, a beauty salon, various artists and entertainers and groups that visit the residents almost every week. This is a fun facility. The staff keeps the families advised and encourages them to visit and participate with their loved one. The sales staff worked with me to get me moved in as quickly and less stressful as possible. The administration staff is very happy to explain the billing charges and make any adjustments required. Overall, of the facilities I reviewed and considered, Brookdale Lake Orienta met most of my requirements and has exceeded my expectations. I have also made a new set of fabulous friends in residents and staff and I am ready to remain here for rest of my life.

General facility is very clean. Have had inconsistent quality and timeliness of individual room cleaning. The staff and quality of care seems adequate for the limited care family member requires. Family member does not like many of the menus. Meals have a strong local flavor. Alternate hot food entrée not offered. Family member often ends up eating sandwiches. This is certainly not worthy of the cost. Nor is it nutritionally balanced. I know that depends on her choosing and eating, but if more choices were offered I think it would help. Activities are Available. Limited participation. Poor advertisement/communication of special activities - other than the routine weekly scheduled. Unable to rate value for cost This is our first experience. Nothing to compare to.

Nothing exceptional. A few of the nurses and caregivers exceed expectations; however some clearly do not. Food is mediocre-not enough dark green veggies, too much breaded fish and chicken, only fresh fruit is bananas. Too many potatoes offerings. The desserts are great!

The staff is absolutely amazing. The food served is awesome. I do just wish they had a few more different activities provided. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Edmond Danforth to others looking for care for their loved ones.
