Brookdale

The director was super nice and seemed to genuinely care about the residents. The facility is a little dated but the room size was nice.

Meg (meghan?) is very knowledgable responsive and welcoming and the facility is a beautiful, impressive space. Very clean, no bad smells. LOVE the coffee shop. It seems most senior needs have been anticipated and solutions offered. I toured this facility with my 85 year old dad today after taking an unscheduled pre-tour myself about 10 days ago. The thing is, many of the things I personally love about GV ie, coffee shop, pool, movie theatre, simply don’t matter to my dad. He doesn’t drink coffee, he has a huge tv, he isn’t ever getting in a pool. The vastness of the space, while lovely, is for dad and would be for anyone with ambulatory issues, a dealbreaker. In addition, the elevators are not air conditioned and get extremely busy at meal times. That may be okay in MAY, but I fear for July in FL. In conclusion, if somebody was putting me personally in an ALF, I’d choose GV. But then again, I can literally walk for several miles at a time and am all about poolside drinks. ??

The facility is nice, I just don’t like the room set up for my mom. She needs a living space that is her own, not shared.

It’s a great setup with wonderful grounds and good amenities. The people I met - both residents and staff - were very friendly. The only negative is that the facilities and rooms are showing their age.

Overall I would rate Brookdale a 4. We have had a few hiccups with them on expectations and experience, but they have been much better on communication. Friendly staff; nurses and techs, front desk admins, kitchen & dining - Excellent dining experience - Limited help overnight - Charges for showers for residents (usually included at other properties)

Positive is parents are seen each day by staff, therapist, etc. so we have a good gauge on how they are doing and receive calls when something needs to be addressed. They are eating well! Negative--some things weren't fully explained Patents are in their routine now and overall, it's working out nicely.

It's hard to give this place a single number rating because there are both positives and areas that could improve. The activities for memory care residents are excellent and really help keep people engaged. They offer music, painting, exercise, and discussions about current events, which my mom seems to enjoy. Barbara, who runs activities in memory care, is especially wonderful. She is kind, caring, and truly attentive to the residents. She keeps them busy and even organizes bus trips, which is amazing. Overall, the care is mostly good, and the memory care staff are generally friendly. However, there are times when my mom's room is not cleaned as well as it should be. I've also noticed issues like only one sheet being used on the bed, and if my mom refuses a shower, staff sometimes do not follow up to make sure she eventually gets one. The food is decent, and they host a family night every month that everyone really enjoys. The facility is expensive, but from what I've seen, it is still more affordable than many other memory care communities. Overall, I would say the experience has been very good, especially because of the activities program and the caring staff members in memory care.

Overall, the experience was mostly positive. Staffing on weekends seemed limited, and communication could be improved, as return calls were inconsistent. At times, noise levels in the hallways were disruptive. However, the care staff were generally respectful, patient, and attentive. The meals were good and served on time.

[Name Removed] the nurse on the memory care unit is WONDERFUL. She had a personal approach. She knew how to help, interact and help my aunt. It went beyond doing a job. We had to change my aunt because she needed a higher level of care. My aunt never complained about the food. The breakfast looked appetizing and was sufficient for my aunt. Very clean Room size was efficient and big enough. Biggest complaint was getting return calls from[Name Removed] when i needed information. Unsure of her title.

Very caring and attentive staff. I think they sometimes pinch pennies (like no fridge upgrades or personalized door plaques anymore) when we pay[amount removed]a month. The food is okay. The staff really does care about the residents and it shows. My father is happy there

That's a tough one since my experience has been good but mom has complained some. Everyone is wonderfully nice and will try to answer your questions. But if there's something they don't know they refer you to someone who isn't there or the website, which is not very good. Overall, however, the staff are mostly accommodating and helpful. The rooms are fairly nice and maintenance calls are answered pretty quick. The residents appear happy, as is my mom, and, to me, that's very important.

The room, staff, facility, activities, and food have been great. My father seems very happy there.

The staff and facility were great, easy to communicate with. Food choices seem fine. She has been their only 4 weeks, but I would recommend based on limited experience.

My Mother has been in memory care for over 2 years. The staff at this location is especially helpful and caring. I have discovered just how important the activities director is. We now have [Name Removed]. She lights up the lives of the residents. They are busy most of the day, being social and playing games, smiling. The impact is truly amazing

One of the nurses/assistants was very rough with the residents causing much discomfort. This was physically painful. She would pick the resident up by herself instead of having someone help.

We mainly chose it because it was SO close to my brother and I we could be there when she needs us in about 5 minutes. But it's turned out to be a very nice community for her to live in. She's settling in nicely so far everyone seems to be very nice and friendly. They have been taking good care of her.

I loved the place and the location. But I miss a swimming pool for daily exercise. I didn’t see the gym because I had limited time

Having your own room is good. The time it takes for care givers to get to my mom is awful. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes to an hour for them to get to her to take her to the bathroom and it could take that long for them to come back after they left her on the toilet. So my mom is sitting on the toilet for 30 minutes to an hour after she is done going to the bathroom
