Brookdale

I have lived at Brookdale's Independent unit for six years, since 2014. I find it secure and comfortable with a beautiful apartment. The food is tasty and healthful. Before the pandemic, we had been visiting entertainers, including a classical pianist. The people are friendly and help each other. No one has caught the virus here - good administration.

Brookdale has a wonderful dementia program. The staff is wonderful. The room sizes and layout of the community are great. The food is delicious. They have a secured patio and a courtyard area. It is a fantastic place for my dad.

The facility is very well maintained. The staff are very friendly, courteous and responsive to our needs and requests. Our father passed away in November, and the hospice care provide by Brookdale was a comfort to him and our family. I would absolutely recommend this community to other families. It is an excellent place.

The staff at Brookdale Harbison have gone above and beyond to accommodate my mother in the move-in process. They did everything possible to make me, the daughter, feel comfortable! I feel good about my assisted living choice for mom.

Our girls were worried about us living alone so they took it upon themselves to start looking at several facilities. They saved the best for last to show us Brookdale. We fell in love with the way it looked and when we met our fabulous Sales Director, we fell more in love. Needless to say, we found our perfect apartment and we love living here. The staff, associates and residents are so friendly and helpful. We never feel alone! It has been a long 5 months during the Covid 19 but everyone has kept us safe and we appreciate their hard work to keep us happy and free of the virus. We are beginning to be able to take part in some of the wonderful activities that they offer and soon there will be more. We are so grateful that we have been living here during the virus. We plan to stay here as long as we can!

The Activities Director was gracious to leave the Ipad in Mom's room while she left to pass out Mother's Day baskets to the other residents. It was an amazing and heartwarming experience to see my mom face to face and know that she is making the best of a different situation during COVID-19.

The words "thank you" hardly seem enough but they're all I have. I do thank you and all the staff at Brookdale. Please share this note with all of your colleagues and with the corporate offices at Brookdale. I want them all to know what an exceptional job you have done and are continuing to do.

My son is very impressed with the job you are doing, as are the residents, the zoom meetings are very informative and helpful as they let family members know what is happening. Thank you for your good work.

I know the reason my mom looks so happy in all these pictures was largely a result of your tireless efforts on behalf of her and others at Brookdale. I can't thank you enough for making her stay at Brookdale a happy experience.

You and the entire staff at Brookdale Monrovia continue to provide A+ care for all of our loved ones and I can't thank you enough! I continue to tell all who will listen how much it means to me and my family that my mom is in a caring and safe environment. I'd take out a billboard if I could.

We love Brookdale Niagara. It is a great place. Their overall coordination of their staff from the janitor to the administration are friendly and were willing to make it the best for the family. The activities had musicians come in and sing for the residents and make it appropriate for the age level in the community, kitchen lessons and have it as a snack, they had a dog come in every few weeks, and interact with the residents. They even had a coordinator that did art projects and history to try and remember things. Every once in a while they would have a picnic for the family with the residents. You would make an appointment, and they would provide the food.

My significant other says the food is really good. The activities they have are outings, they will plan activities on their weekly calendar. They take activity recommendations from the residents. The rooms are spacious, very clean. We really like the atmosphere, we could really tell it was going to be a great place. The way it was set up had a homey feel, very bright and relaxing. Its very inviting, they staff was always smiling, they are super nice. They are very attentive, the care provided is phenomenal, they are very compassionate. The staff has great communication, they have kept us up to date through email or letters. This community is very well rounded. Would recommend it to anyone.

The activities Brookdale provides are entertainment groups that occasionally come in at night to sing and play music. They are however lacking in activities during the day, could have more games. The food is good, they offer a variety of choices. They have nice apartments, we have a full kitchen. They also have a heated pool!

Our experience has been good, as a matter of fact, we have told friends that. I've not a problem with them. If my mother-in-law gets back to ambulatory then I would put her back in there. The activities included day trips which I thought was a good thing to get them out of the community. I saw them doing exercises, bingo, music, and crafts. They had everything you can think of. My mother-in-law was in the memory care, so I'm not sure what other activities were offered.

It's been a great for my mom. They have activities that are some of the ones she used to enjoy before moving to the community. The staff are very good, friendly, and responsive. The meals and snacks are great and the offer a variety. I chose this community because the value and they offer the Medicaid spend down if she needs it one day. We looked at others, and chose this one. I would recommend this community. Shes made friends and seems content there. When COVID started they aggressively went into lock down to keep the residents safe. They are quick to call with any issues and there's good communication.

Its pretty expensive, care services are excellent. My sister participates in games, like throwing hoops over cones. They also offer exercise classes. We haven't eat the food ourselves, but my sister loves it. Her room is quite large. The have shared rooms and individual rooms. It was like walking into a hotel, the appearance was wonderful. The greeting staff was wonderful, they were very informative and very understanding. We were very impressed by it. They do their laundry, they clean the rooms, they really do everything. Great overall communication with the residents, and their families.

My mother moved in June 2019 after a fall and broken hip forced her to move out of independent living in her own apartment. Brookdale Valparaiso was extremely helpful during the transition period and getting my mom settled. I have been extremely pleased with the service, communication, and professionalism of Brookdale Valparaiso staff. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brookdale staff had been proactive and consistent in policies and procedures to protect residents and staff. From the begging of the pandemic through the current times Brookdale Valparaiso staff had been firm in their commitment to safety practices even while the surrounding Valparaiso community residents and government leaders never really took the pandemic seriously early on and has apparently now given up. Please Brookdale continue to stick your guns and Thank You!

I'm very pleased with the entire staff, especially with how well they have responded during the challenging fo the Coronavirus. They have gone out fo their way to care for the residents and those of us in their families. "Hats off" to [name removed] for her leadership and the staff for their responsiveness.

Brookdale 119 became my mom's home. I never thought that would be possible after she protested for nearly two years about the idea of moving from her long-time home to a place like Brookdale 119. She was dug in that she would never move from her home but a trip to the hospital finally convinced her it was time to go to a place where others could check up on her, if needed. I interviewed several locations and Brookdale was by far the most responsive to my questions/concerns. The staff and residents immediately made my mom feel welcomed on her first day. My mom had many activities to do each day - but, she could also just relax in her apartment if she wanted to. And best of all, no cooking or cleaning was required! My mom was loved every day at Brookdale 119 - hugs and smiles were everywhere. After two years at 119, my mom moved across the street to assisted living - dementia care (Brookdale Overland Park) The folks at 119 helped my mom (and me) each step of the way and made the difficult COVID move possible. And, the 119 folks continue to check-in on her even though she has not lived there for three months. How awesome is that?! I hate to name names because I will leave so many good people out but I need to highlight two special people. The Executive Director ([name removed]) and the Marketing Director ([name removed]) are two very special people. Your loved one(s) will be in great hands with those two in-charge. They both have caring hearts and go beyond expectations to ensure that concerns are addressed and that the residents are safe and having fun. [name removed] is a tireless worker who has excelled during the COVID crisis - that is what excellent leaders do - they rise to the occasion. [name removed] will ensure that your mom/dad is well taken care of - she has set an excellent tone at the community during a terrible time. She helped my family beyond words with her support - always making herself available and coming up with solutions that I never dreamed possible. [name removed] kept in touch with me during the time when I was trying to get my mom to consider moving from her house. [name removed] had many great ideas and gave me a lot of support. She is a wonderful person who became my point of contact at the community - she was not in it just to make a sale. I now refer to her as my friend. I never thought I would get as much, if not more, from Brookdale 119 than my mom got! I know there are many choices in South OP for senior living - to include many fancy places that feel like a cruise ship. What we got at 119 was a home - a place where my mom was openly loved everyday by people who truly had her best interest at heart. And besides, Brookdale 119 also has happy hour just like the cruise ship places do but at a cheaper price! We will miss the people of Brookdale 119. Thank you 119!

We chose this community because of the location and the price. Our favorite part about this facility is that we feel secure that they are in good hands. They are in memory care, so that is important to us. My grandparents like the food, I have not eaten there, but have sat with them while they ate and it looks lovely. The room sizes are very adequate. Their staff is also very communicative which helps put our mind at ease.
