Brookdale

Each time I visit my aunt in Brookdale’s Memory Care area, she is happy, clean, well-fed and talking about the staff as her friends. She tells me ‘my apartment and this place just feel like home’. It continues to be a wonderful place for her to enjoy living.

It was clean. No smells. All of the staff was friendly, kind to those living there and happy. We liked that it was all on one level for easy exiting in case of an emergency. The apartments were a very nice size with plenty of storage for what they will need. We were impressed by the pool table room with a wall full of pictures of current residents who are veterans. So nice that they honor their service. They also had a room with two resident cats. So those living there can go down anytime of the day or night and play with Oliver and Charlie. The whole atmosphere was kind and friendly and caring, and it was super decorated for fall. Some of the staff come back in after they celebrate Christmas with their families to be with the residents who did not leave the facility for the holiday. Sales manager was open and full of all of the information we needed, and we decided that when my mother is ready that is the place we would like her to go.

I wish there was more staff on weekends. Depends on cooks she likes it and when it isn't warm enough she tells them. Lots of activities, she stays busy. Hard to get in and out on weekends. Sometimes have to wait 10 minutes to get back in lots of people complain about that but she loves the people and place.

The time I spent with [name removed] was so informing. She spent time with me until all my questions were answered. It is so obvious to me that the Keizer River Road faculty is ran very efficiently. I know my Mother will be a great fit and most importantly that she will be well taken care of. We did put her on the wait list and looking forward to her being there.

Really nice place. People were very friendly and helpful. My sister and her husband choose home health for now. Will keep you in mind for future reference.

The staff is excellent- very professional, competent and caring. There are off premises trips for those interested in going- with the residents suggesting places they'd like to go. Daily in-house activities include bingo, crafts, board and card games, Friday night movies in the theater room. Guests musical performances and church services are offered. It's a huge transition for a new resident (like my mother) but with the help of such caring people around, she is making the adjustment from home to "new home".

Both the staff and residents were very friendly and the place was clean and inviting. I was really impressed with what I saw. I like the variety of activities that they offer and they they will drive you on to doctors appointments on Tuesday. The dining room was more like a restaurant and people had many choices about what they could eat. The community rooms had books and puzzles available along with big TVs for watching movies or whatever you wanted.

Everything was very good. Staff were always helpful. Caretakers were kind. Some especially considerate. She never needed anything, but then my Mom never asked. The place was very clean. No odor anywhere! Here apartment was perfect for her. We brought her furniture so she could feel more at home. Lots of activities. I have no complaints, but it is time for her to come home. In the next few days I will be giving Brookdale my 30 day notice. The family wants the remaining time of her life to be with family as much as possible.

Mother was reluctant to move into assisted living at Brookdale Harrisburg but after speaking with [name removed] she realized that she needed more care than we were able to supply in her home. It was a bit of an adjustment but Mother has settled in and is occupied most of the day. She recently became a big winner at Yatzee and was on cloud nine! The staff is attentive and helpful when issues regarding Mother's health arise. I have and will continue to recommend APFM and Brookdale to others.

They are very caring and accommodating! I'm not sure about the food however the room was very nice and spacious. I would recommend the community to others.

Facility was clean and the clients were friendly. They appeared to be quite happy with their surroundings. [name removed] kindly took us on a tour and explained the options of living at Brookdale Hendersonville East.

This facility and staff is simply outstanding. It is clean, the food is great, and the entire staff has made my father feel right at home. They quickly care for all his needs and make adjustments when necessary. He has made many friends doing the activities they have planned each day. He also enjoys their exercise class. We are so thankful he is able to live here.

Overall experience- 5 Cleanliness- 5 the facility is clean and has a homey feel. It doesn't feel like an institution; more like a nice hotel. Friendliness- 5 Quality of care - 5 the staff seems to care about individuals and will make adjustments in the schedule as needed. For example, trying again later if the resident isn't cooperative with taking meds right this moment. Administrative staff - 5 Responses to our inquiries have been timely. We so far haven't felt like we were a "bother". We've also not felt like we were promised one thing but dealt something else. Food - Don't know. We haven't been visiting at mealtimes but we also haven't heard any complaints. Activities - 5 there are many offered and promoted. Value for money - 5 We feel that the cost of memory care in general is obscenely expensive. That being said, we also feel like Brookdale is providing thorough care in return.

Having not ever been anywhere else it's a very nice place. It has a nice staff. He has a very nice room. However he does not have a shower and he does not like going to the shower room. I asked to see the shower and I was told no, but that might've been on a particular day so after two months, he's kind of rebelling about going to the shower. That's the only thing I can think of he gets along very well with everyone.

I would say 5 in all categories. I would highly recommend them. Staff was very friendly & helpful. The facility was very clean and food was good. Room size was perfect.

I am grateful to be able to move my mother there. The staff is very helpful and directed my every step. Highly recommend.

Staff is friendly and genuinely eager to help my mom adjust and feel at home. Once she moved in I met with the wellness director to go over her initial care needs. I was contacted to see if she would be interested in a podiatry appt due to her foot problems as the doctors come on site and her insurance covers it. They are also going to have her do physical therapy on site as well. She is very pleased about not having to leave for such things. After being there a couple weeks we (family members without my mother) had another care team meeting with the wellness team and executive director to check and see how things are going. Due to losing her license they are making sure she is involved in activities and know when outings are. So far I'm exceedingly happy with where she is and how well she is taken care of. The location is great. It's in a busy area but tucked away in the back of a senior housing community so it feels more peaceful. The grounds are very nice and facility clean and inviting. The apartment seemed small at first but once we brought in her things and set it up it is appropriate for her needs. She is in a one bedroom. Staff checked in to make sure she had essentials such as a shower curtain, incontinence products and other basics. On a side note they were very responsive to the emergency pull in the bathroom. My 3 yr old grandson curiously pulled it. Food is good and residents are encouraged to come to a monthly meeting when they create the upcoming menu.

Staff are attentive and get back to you regarding any question or issue very quickly. The dining room staff are friendly and take time to greet and chat with residents. There are regular excursions to interesting CT destinations.

The staff was very good. They always greeted him by name. They joked when he joked and established a good rapport with him. Nurse [name removed] was truly one of best we encountered! She was on top of all his meds and very patient with his questions about pills. The room size was generous and he used Brookdale's bed, dresser and recliner and all were relatively new and clean. The food seemed great with a big variety of choices at each of the 3 meals. Overall the facility was well kept and clean inside. The only negatives were that they did not provide transportation to appointments because of issues with staffing to drive the van. The other negative was housekeeping for his room and bathroom cleaning which was supposed to be weekly but that did not happen each week or if it did, it was very superficial. Brookdale facility was making improvements with new siding, gutters so there was construction in all the outdoor courtyards and therefore off limits to residents. Once the work is completed then the outdoor spaces can be cleaned up and will be better. Clean, comfortable, friendly homey atmosphere. I also forgot to mention that having PT/OT services right in the same building was very helpful as they could flex their services and scheduling to work around his appointments or naps.
