The lady that came over was very friendly but did absolutely nothing to assist my grandmother. She sat on her phone and watched TV with my grandmother for a few hours and did not even attempt to get my grandmother to do anything. As far as food I had to ask my grandmother if she was hungry and then I had to insist on my grandmother eating because she did absolutely nothing to help. There were even a few times where I went to check on them and the lady wasn't even in the same room. She was on the other side of the house taking a personal phone call. I have let them go and will not be using them ever again. I would rate them an absolute zero on everything. The other thing that was really annoying was my grandma was trying to give things away to the lady that was assigned to us. And she was more than happy to take them. I had to remind her that my grandmother has dementia and Alzheimer's and she should not take anything from the house that is not hers even if my grandma tries to give it to her.

Some of the caretakers were great and others were terrible. We had to have repairs done to our house because of them and things went missing and we have still not been able to locate the missing items.

We did not have a good experience at all, we would not recommend this home care service to any other family. The billing department was never accurate, we were over charged. The management and all the care takers we dealt with were all just incredibly rude

We had them come out while I was out of town and it was not a good experience. The trash cans were not emptied, floor was not swept, and he was not given his medications promptly. I would not recommend to others looking.

They sent a girl and she did not want to do anything and wanted to go home. I think they still charged me even thought she was not here the full time and did not do the services that we asked. We stopped using them and would not recommend to others looking. It was a bad experience.

They would come to my door, introduce themselves and then go sit on my sofa. They sat their on their phones the entire time. They also were very unprofessional, telling me all their drama in their personal lives, there was no boundaries and no experience.

Was not happy. My mom is 94. Sent a 20 yr old that had absolutely no experience. She barely did her job. Would catch her on her phone while my mom was showering. Interfered with personal and financial issues. Asked not to discuss with my mom. She would turn around and do it anyway. Then lie about it. I could hear from other room. I live with my mother and I am her main caregiver. This girl acted like I didn't have any rights or say so in the care of my mom. So, with that said be careful & interview if possible.

About two months ago I contacted Senior Helpers to make arrangements for a person to come to my home to help look after my wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Following a 20 minute interview on the phone, I was visited by a case coordinator my area, who spent about an hour at my house with me and my wife, doing a thorough evaluation of our needs. At the end of that visit I was told that the next step would be to find a caregiver to match our needs, something that would happen within just a few days, and that I should expect a call back from Senior Helpers very soon. After about a week with no further contact, I called again for an update and was told that the case coordinator would call me back right away. Several more days passed and I called again, again with the same result: no further contact. Now that two months have passed, I am still waiting for that call back, which has been promised to me repeatedly. I don’t know why Senior Helpers has behaved toward me in this way. Maybe they were simply unable to find someone to provide the services I needed on the days and times I needed them, but that still does not explain why they didn’t just tell me that rather than continuing to make me believe that they were both ready and able to fill my request without any further wait. I am not the sort of person that goes out of my way to criticize others on the Web, but the way Senior Helpers has treated me at a time when I was, and continue to be, desperate for help is so outrageous that I feel it is my duty to warn anyone who is thinking of turning to them for help. These are not honorable people. They think nothing of ignoring their customers. They are not reliable. They are not trustworthy. Be very careful, and good luck!

Only pick this company if you want stress and frustration, they couldn’t care less about your concerns for your family member. You will never get a call from the staff to see how the caregivers are performing because they dont care. Do yourself a favor and pick another company.

They do not care about there clients or caregivers! They will set you up for services , and staff will not show. Complete waste of money! Cancelled services! Caregivers at not at all experienced.

I am writing this review based on my personal experience with this company for my dad. This company from the start promised caregivers that would best suit my dad's personality. From the start there were multiple caregivers coming into my home. There was no stability of who was going to take care of him. My dad has dementia and needs consistency. I had to keep calling representatives to constantly replace poorly experienced caregivers. They would come into my home, leave my dad in his room and fall asleep in the living room on my couch. Another caregiver, refused to leave my home when I asked him to leave because he was sleeping in my kitchen. He actually got mad that I wanted him to leave. I was on the phone with a representative during the whole incident. The company also called him and told him to leave yet he didn't! I have no idea how they are employing people who are extremely unprofessional. It doesn't stop there! My dad who has had brain surgery fell 2 times under caregiver supervision and hit the floor with his head. We had to take him to the hospital. For the care that I am paying for and expecting this should not be happening. I made the company very aware about my expectations and complaints multiple times. They tried to change caregivers but continued to send me unqualified people who could not do the only thing I asked for which was STAY BY HIS SIDE. This is not the care I want for my dad. However, these were just a FEW of the experiences from the care my dad received. I talked to the manager [name removed] who was understanding but too little too late to make things right. There were multiple chances and opportunities for this company to give the service they promised. I preferred to go with another company that will make sure they employ quality caregivers. 24 Hour Home Care is aware of all my complaints and about this review. Extremely unfortunate to have to experience this I hope no one else has to.

My sick relative got a bill for one day's work. He paid up front the entire amount with the $100 administrative fee. He was told this would cover everything for his two-week care. It seems that Home Instead's pay period ends on the 15th of each month. So we are in the middle of an out-of-state move, two insurance companies, doctors, and many difficulties. It would of been nice to have one thing taken care of, with honesty.

Run from this company, do not walk...Run! If you care for your loved one at all and want the best care for them then I advise you search elsewhere for knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. The presentation of services to be rendered was completely misleading... overstated and vastly underdelivered. I was told the nurses were skilled and would understand the needs of my mother and right out of the gate the woman they sent was clueless. My 83 y/o mother had just received a hip replacement and we were looking for someone to help monitor her during a difficult phase of her recovery... basic stand and pivot to bedside commode... Turning in bed... monitoring blood pressures as she was, at the time, constantly fluxing with orthostatic hypotension. We were told the nursing staff was competent and would be able to do this and more, even light cleaning, meal preparation, full caring and respectful bed bath and some laundry service too! It sounded like a dream and too good to be true. It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of service and care for my mother. It was all a lie! First off, they were unable to find anyone for several days to come out and help. We even had someone sheduled and they didn’t show up. When finally someone came, AN HOUR LATE, the woman literally huffed and rolled her eyes at me when I opened the door to let her in. She did not introduce herself in any way nor did she say two words as I led her downstairs to my mother’s care area. She was very defiant, contentious and acted like she definitely did not want to be here! I was so uneasy and uncomfortable at the encounter I wanted her to leave then and there. I asked her if she knew of my mother’s posterior hip precautions... no response! I asked if she was aware of how to do a stand and pivot and help mother out of the bed so as to avoid another hip dislocation, she looked at me like a deer in headlights. I then asked her if they had updated her on my mother’s condition and the care needed... her only response was “yeah, they said she was real hands on.” I proceeded to explain and instruct her as best I could. She then proceeded to sit in the chair across the room and watch the football game that my mother was watching at the time. I thought to myself “you’ve got to be kidding me! This is what you call a qualified caregiver and supportive palliative care!” She did not engage with my mother, speak to her nor even introduce her and give her name or offer to do anything other than, “you need me to fix her some food?”, to which I responded, obviously no, I had already fixed her lunch in the hour I was waiting, which she was eating at the time of this woman’s arrival. The whole experience was incredibly uncomfortable, but I had to go out and replenish supplies and groceries and other errands. I was so hesitant to leave but mother was having a really good day and was in bed watching the game, so I thought I could run out real quick and then just get back ASAP. I got as far as the parking lot of the store a few minutes away and immediately turned around and came back to dismiss the woman and figure out another solution. I called the oncall staff at Brightstar and explained the situation. They told me the woman had wanted to call out and not work that day so that was the excuse for the unprofessional behavior... I was thinking... why would you send that in the first place if that is the best you have... They tried to assure me that they did have really good qualified individuals and for me to give them another try the next day. They said this woman was no longer work with the company… Which I thought was strange to inform me of their employment decisions. They tried to convince me again to have them send another woman. I told them no... I would make other arrangements as they were obviously unable to deliver adequate staff to begin with. The woman was there all of 30 minutes. I dismissed her immediately upon my return home. Some time later I noticed I noticed an automatic debit from them to my bank account for $98. I disputed it. They were incredibly rude on the phone and very short with me stating it would be under review. I guess it’s still under review because the charges were not reversed. Very unprofessional, very shady and very inappropriate business practices I advise anyone and everyone to look elsewhere!

They charge the private pay clients soooooo much more than state waiver but pay the cargivers [removed] near minimum wage

We began using this agency recently for our mother. In the past 3 weeks we experienced two serious problems with this agency. The first occurred two weeks ago. The caregiver scheduled for the evening shift called off 15 minutes before her shift. We contacted Home Instead and they could not find a replacement. Tonight we found out at the last minute that they did not schedule anyone to care for our mom. I am seriously disappointed with Home Instead and am now searching for a replacement.

This agency was terrible. They did "pretend" to follow your request but basically they were pulling at straws for full time care. We had aides that came in without having the knowledge to cook and no concept of what belongs in the freezer or in the refrigerator. We had to throw out food. They could not even make a ham and cheese sandwich. I would NOT recommend this agency. They are suppose to refund us for our down payment and I have not seen any money as of yet.

Overpriced terribly—late many times.
