This facility could use more workers. There is a high turnover rate with the employees. The staff that is there is very friendly, but the food could be better.

They were having some issues when my mom was there. They ended up transitioning that facility to memory care. It was assisted living with a separate memory care unit but then they switched it over the entire place being memory care so that's why she had to move. The food quality was not good at all. There were some issues there.

Felt too much like a hospital setting. We need something that offers more space and independent living - ie full bath/privacy/more homelike surroundings

Emphasis on assisted living and not so much on independent.

I would tell others that I think our case was different because we moved in right in the middle of the pandemic. He had to be quarantined in the back room and that is what is accounting for the lower scores. He passed away before he was able to go into the facility. I would still recommend based off of what we saw it would be like in normal circumstances.

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mother. It was an okay community however they charge the same prices as other places but they don’t give the same level of care. If my mom would have moved in, she would need to share a room. It is an older facility and it has an odor to it. I would not put my mom here unless I didn’t have a choice. The marketing director was really nice and checked up on my a few times after the tour. I would tell other families to take a look here but I would not tell them to go here.

We didn't like it at all. It's set up as a Jack and Jill so it had two rooms with a shared bath. One room being a living room and one being a bedroom and a little counter. It was very small for the money and very congested. My friends just moved in there. I visited them just yesterday and they're very unhappy. It's just so congested. It's not worth the money. their rooms are the size of a small bedroom. It was very clean and the people were very helpful but our friends said the food is not that great. The caregivers are very good, they said.

The med tech staff did not follow through with medical procedures when my mother fell and needed medical attention for a hip fracture. The response of the nurses were great and made sure my mother was transported to hospital. The med techs were not able to care for my mother upon discharge from hospital and her condition worsened. I have transferred my mother to a different facility due to the level of care she needs. My mother declined significantly.

My loved one is comfortable at The Lakes Banning because my family members visit him often. The supervisor of caregivers is often hostile. A number of families have removed their loved ones. There are a lot of vacancies and caregivers are in short supply. We are so disappointed.

Our family had an in person tour with Valley Crest Memory Care and it was very depressing. Our mom isn't that bad and we did not care for it. The patients were in the reception area in wheelchairs and doors are locked 24/7.

Found Exec. Director unwelcoming and avoiding people. Staff was ambivalent and only paid attention when family visiting. Felt staff got along with each other, but not with patients/clients. No activities --maybe due to Covid but clients were not paid attention to. People mostly in their rooms. Felt isolated. Depressing. Would not recommend.

The director is very unfriendly, very business oriented, and only cares about money. I don't think she is well trained in some aspects needed in memory care. However, the caregivers and nursing were all friendly and tried to do their best but the new director came in, she cut down the staffing and that resulted in not enough staff to care for the residents. The new director also changed the rent , two months later, the director asked my loved one to leave because of money, and due to transfer trauma she passed away within two months.

They have not lived up to our expectations. What we were led to believe, was not reality. In the 5 months that mom has been there, she has fallen several times...broken nose, broken knee cap, sprained wrist, and had food poisoning at least once (may have been more but no one would say for sure). There does not seem to ever be enough help in the common areas and not enough activity time to keep the residents occupied during the day. Most of the time when we arrive to visit, we cannot find any care staff in the immediate area of where they leave all the residents and most of the time the bedrooms are locked so even if the resident is able to take themselves to the bathroom, they could not get in to use it. Many times, the place smells so bad you can't bare to stay and visit!

We toured the Sierra Vista Independent and Assisted Living. The staff members were friendly and helpful when they gave us the tour. It was not as kept-up as what we were looking for. It didn't smell good. We chose another community that fit our needs.

This community was very dingy and dark. It reminds me of a institution from off the television. The staff was friendly and super helpful. I would not take my loved one there simply because of the vibe that is given. They do offer activities for the residents.

I am very disappointed in the care offered at this facility. I blame this mainly on the fact that they have very few caregivers working at any given time, like 2 or 3 to handle 22 residents, most of whom are in wheel chairs. Very deplorable housekeeping. I have mopped the floor many more times than they have! Usually the small wastebaskets are overflowing with dirty diapers and there is urine on the floor in the bathroom, then tracked thruout the room. Sticky floors, like a movie theater. The small of urine permeating the room. Yes, my father misses the john most of the time. They were told that he did this and mopping would be necessary several times a day, if not at least every morning! This was the main reason we could not care for him at home. He is found in bed most mornings with his clothes still on, no PJs. Even with his shoes on some times! He was there 11 days before he had a bath, and only because I got on their case about it. On Mondays, we find him with soiled briefs, making it obvious he hadn't been checked all weekend. I have hospice care now, so it makes it do-able. Otherwise, it would be me caring for him or no one. And the food? Canned or processed, usually tepid and dried up. Nothing fresh. Not at all as they advertise!!! Only bring your loved one here if you can supervise or have hospice involved.

The director of the facility is not interested in living up to their mission statement. The care staff is great, but the management is horrible. They are truly in it from the business perspective and unable to balance that and care initiatives. Facility was clean but it is more hospital atmosphere, but for Lompoc it is ok. I would shop around to another area before placing anyone there, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY"S WORTH FROM THAT TEAM.

Too many patients & Not enough staff. They're main concern is getting the money & Not too much care. Found my loved one pee a couple time. Food is Not the greatest & No house keeping daily only once a week! Definitely will never recommend to anyone I care for!

I would tell anyone looking into this place to stay FAR FAR FAR FAR away. The residents walk around like zombies. They aren't supervised well enough. Specialized needs aren't taken care of. Residents can easily escape. There are too many residents for how many staff members there are. It is just a sad, hopeless, depressing facility. Residents of The Gardens are locked out of their rooms for the entire day and thus forced to find a worker to take them to an always locked restroom or their room to use. Since the facility is understaffed and the residents all have memory issues, this is just ridiculous. My dad went from never having had an accident to wearing an adult diaper in a matter of days. It's was so degrading We moved my dad out of there after six weeks. It would've been sooner but it took time to find a new facility.

My mother was at this facility for 8 years. The caregivers are wonderful, but management, especially the Director is awful. They are under staffed and the employees are spread thin trying to cover for each other. I know this first hand because I was there almost everyday for those 8 years. The residents and staff have become part of our family, my 3 granddaughters grew up in that house and we have cherished the time we've spent there. My mother passed away 3 days ago, and 10 HOURS after she passed I received a phone call from the director saying she was sorry for our loss and they would be charging us a daily fee for everyday that her belongings remained in her room. The next morning I received an email saying they saw her belongings were gone and our bill was $[removed]. This was supposed to be a time of reflecting and grieving and because of their insensitivity I am angry and can think of nothing but making sure no-one has this happen to them.
