Brookdale

The place seemed really nice and the staff was warm and welcoming, there were not many residents out and about and that was a concern. It could have been the time of day or that they had all just been out for an activity and retired to their rooms to get ready for dinner, but that was something that we noticed. We like to get back for a meal with my parents.

Overall, maintains high standards for staff management and care given. Better than many (in my opinion) compared to other equal size care facilities. Price is above mean, but you get what you pay for. The staff are long term not fast turn around because the management relationship to employees is healthy. Accessible and safe location.

Mom visited amd thought dinning room was beautiful but had some other concerns that she was unable to clearly articulate other than it being expensive

Love the location and the ymca so close. I just wish they had cottages not just apartments.

Everyone was very friendly and patience with us. Answered all our questions and have offered to help us with anything we need. My grandfather who was not completely on board with this idea is not very much considering doing this.

LOVE Brookdale of Overland Park!! The staff is amazing. I have only seen the rehab part of the place, but that is beautiful! Their most amazing feature is their therapy gym; huge windows, lots of light, and state of the art equipment. It is a happy place and the therapists are really good at what they do. The price for assisted living is super high-thus only 4 stars- and the food is only adequate, but my overall experience with this Brookdale facility has been super positive!

The Trillium was the first retirement home I went to. It was very nice. I did discover by viewing the floor plan choices that I did not want a small unit and I preferred a balcony. The meal plan only contained breakfast and 20 dinners (more dinners could be purchased. This is the only retirement home to have this plan.

Brookdale is a beautiful, accommodating independent community. The residents seem friendly, the food is reportedly excellent, and the location is central to so many places and families in the south hills. We did not choose Brookdale, mainly because it is further than a competitor right in our neighborhood. The staff seemed informed and helpful. Thank you for the support and information.

Facility was awesome and staff very friendly. We really liked the memory care unit only drawback was the choice I would have was for a companion unit, which would make the room very crowded. They are very active at making sure the resident doesn't stay in their room providing lots of activities.

I loved this facility but the price was too high for our budget and my dad's diagnosis would require him to be in their memory care even though his dementia is not that severe yet.

Everyone was very helpful and friendly when we moved my in-laws in. The activities are great and they enjoyed it there. It was a good decision for all.

Very nice, enjoyed seeing the interaction among residents. Liked that [name removed] asked about [name removed] and her needs, very resident centered.

While the facility was dated, I felt like the staff was very engaging. They were very honest about employee satisfaction. I liked that they base their staff ratios on acuity rather than census. I also liked that they employed CNAs and Med Techs. The facility was clean, but smelled like a nursing home which was bothersome. The rooms were a great size and I was impressed with all of the safety call buttons. I also liked that the residents had a mini fridge and microwave provided in their room.

My mother is a resident at Union Hills. The staff is extremely receptive and invested in all of the residence. They treat them like their own family. The activities director is very hands-on and has activities twice a day every day which is nice... Things like aerobics, trivia, movies and popcorn and entertainment. I would recommend at this community in a heartbeat

The service is good but there have been a few times that they did not let me know what was going on until after the fact. Communication needs some improvement.

Nice facility. This a good facility from the limited search that we have done. It may be top of our price range on rent but we are still searching.

We moved our elderly father into The Gables about 6 months ago. He seems fairly happy there, although his two main concerns are the lack of reliable/available transportation options for non-driving residents, and the merely average quality of the food. We were under the initial impression that both would be better, and are disappointed. Otherwise, the facility seems to have friendly staff, clean rooms, etc.

My father is definitely thriving at Brookdale Paddock Hills. He's more alert and responsive. I took good care of him when he was in my house but I couldn't give him the interaction with people his own age which he gets at Brookdale. I am happy with my choice. He's in the memory care wing which is a bit harder to deal with. I often find him in clothing that is not his and doesn't fit that well but when I said something about it they immediately made strides to correct the situation. He was never a very outgoing person but he has made friends with the other residents which is more than I expected. He's on a fixed fee for his care which makes the cost more manageable for his depleted finances. Overall I'd say that things are going very very well. Thank you for directing us there.

My mother is happy there. Everyone is very nice. Likes their meals. Rooms aren't cleaned as well as they should be but not bad. I usually have to sweep and mop from time to time.

My mother does not live at Brookdale Tyler East but she does live at Brookdale Tyler South which is a memory care facility. I am very satisfied with this facility in every way.
