Brookdale

Spent the afternoon with my mom and stepdad at Brookdale Granger. My step-dad is well loved by staff and very happy. Very clean and hospitable. The meal sounds great but they are serving Lima beans, so I gave 4 stars for that.

I would highly recommend to others. My only issue is that I would like to see more activities that apply to all residents.

My Mom is happy with Brookdale. She is rather stubborn about taking a shower and changing her clothes. She either does not remember what she just wore but they are not real forceful in getting her to do either. We have talked to them about it so I am going to try to be there when her shower is scheduled to see if I can start her on a routine. I know they care about the residents and they seem to be short staffed from time to time. But they are always willing to work with us. As long as she is happy and eating well and participating in most activities, we are satisfied with the choice. The atmosphere is very homey which is what we really liked. Also it is not a hugh facility which does not seem overwhelming to my Mom. I know situations will come up but they are just a part of caring for everyone's needs and they are pretty much easily fixed.

Finding a place is a difficult thing to do. Brookdale was a good place. She really needed more care than they could give. Using A Place for mom was helpful since I do not live in Colorado, so it was good to have some ideas of where to start looking. The staff were very helpful and caring. They took extra time to contact me in California if there was something they felt I needed to know. They always responded to her calls within 5-10 minutes. I felt that she was in a safe place. I would recommend the facility for someone who is looking for a smaller place/facility for their loved one. It is good for someone who does not have too many health issues and is able to get in an out of bed on their own. The staff did the best they could for my mom.

The entire staff who work daily directly with the residents are outstanding. The past three management team turnovers have solved the core issues necessary for their positions. You can push papers, play the politics and hire until you get a ratio of 1-1 staff to resident and still have the same problems. The main jobs for managers is to TRAIN the existing staff for the two issues faced by the staff who work directly with the residents - dementia and mental health issues. Those are the areas that all staff need to be trained for by the highest levels of management instead of playing the system. I have great respect for everyone who come into Brookdale ready to do their job when working with residents daily. Given the targeted population, the benefits for employees and new hires are generous. My initial transition to Brookdale was very different from the management who are here now versus those present when I moved in. Everything has been documented by my medical records and documents

The staff are very pleasant and attentive with the residents. The facility is very clean has the feel of a resort. It's the best for the money that I was able to find. It is a great facility for a loved one.

He is safe; nice front staff; had some issues with the nursing staff at the very beginning not letting us know his meds needed to be refilled, but I pretty much straighten that out. It looks like they have good activities, but my dad can't see and he's not mobile so he's just not that interested. as with most places, keeping staff is really serious. They're not on a bus line and that creates a problem I believe for all the facilities that are not on a bus line. But they seem pretty good.

I would recommend to a friend. My mama is involved in many activities and has met so many nice people there.

Staff is very friendly, several have been there for years. Clean environment. Had a few problems with AC, toilets running.. Maintenance fixed right away.. Residents have been friendly and welcoming.

The directors personality won us over and when we did the tour, she knew residents names and personal details as we walked through.

Within just three months of moving my grandmother in, in 2022 they raised the initial price of [fee removed] to [fee removed], which I had to rally against with corporate as that felt quite unethical bringing us in and then fine print somewhere I missed allowing such an increase. They have raised the rate each year in a similar way and I've had to push back as she doesn't have any funds to support paying more. Her bill is now at [fee removed]. That is my only complaint- otherwise the leadership of this particular place is kind and the staff overall are very kind to my grandmother, although she complains about a lot of carbs and lack of fresh fruits and veggies in meals.

Definitely an interesting task balancing my interactions vs my Dad's and the fact that they were in the beginning of a management restructuring when he arrived. It has gotten better in many ways. The number of people who show they really care and know my parents is something special. The current executive director and head of medical are wonderful. They have monthly resident meetings and do everything they can to address any legitimate issues that arise. They have also been very helpful to me since I live 6 hours away and cannot always be there when things come up. While there has been a significant turnover but even my Father is happy with 90% of the staff. For the meals it has been really up and down as the chef has changed a number of times but the current one is pretty good. The biggest problem with the dining room today is sometimes they are short staffed for servers.

I would recommend Brookdale to others.

To decide upon a place for my father-in-law to reside when he could no longer live alone, I checked out 4 facilities and chose Brookdale. The sales agents were not pushy and were very, very helpful in facilitating this move. However, after the move, you are pretty much on your own to find out who is in charge of each department. I wandered the hallways asking questions and then searching for answers myself. When you finally find someone, they are constantly in meetings and it takes days before you get a call. New residents and family should be seen by staff and instructed on where to turn for guidance. Daily bed making and clean up of resident happens very late in morning, or in afternoon, unacceptable. Daily meds were not dispensed and forgotten on a number of days, causing pain and discomfort. On the whole, everyone tries but the facility could do better.

Ive stopped by to see my dad at all hours of the day and night. The staff is always upbeat and friendly doing the best they can at a very difficult job. I think hiring a couple more caregivers at certain busy times of the day like getting residents to and from meals, changing them for bed etc... would be helpful and make everyones job more timely and run smoothly. It can sometimes take a few hours im the evening to get medication despensed before residents can start to be taken to their rooms.

The Brookdale has done a phenomenal job taking of my uncle for the past few months under their care.. My uncle has been progressing very nicely from the help of the Brookdale Team.. Thank you so much!

Overall happy with the apartment. Food is okay but not spectacular. Staff is helpful, great PT and OT staff. Maintenance is slow to react and that has disappointed my folks. Sales and marketing staff was great to work with and the finance staff also has been very helpful.

I have been impressed that all the staff members know each of the residents by name, and they know family members as well. They welcome and encourage family participation.

I would say that we are pretty satisfied with my mother's care and she is content there. If you can afford it, it's a pretty good place. Yes I would recommend.
