Brookdale

My parents are 89 and 91. They relocated to Phoenix last December to be closer to their children since they had more frequent doctors visits and procedures. The started in a three bedroom rental that was too big and no age appropriate neighbors. Dad took a fall and was in the hospital for a couple of days and we decided that they needed assisted living for age appropriate friends and someone on the po if they had an issue. After touring five other properties Brookdale met their wants and needs. As their oldest child I have been satisfied with my parents living arrangements.

I definitely recommend to others. My parents are happy with Brookdale. The relocation process was somewhat chaotic due to a lack of organization. Some important documents were overlooked. However, I must say that the staff members were friendly and courteous throughout.

The community is clean, staff friendly and caring food could be better.

It's been really good so far! He is happy and well taken care of. I'm very confident at the level of care he is receiving! The staff are attentive, kind, and hard working. They go out of their way to give great care, but also to treat residents with compassion and dignity.

I would recommend to others. However, the price will be out of reach as they raise rates and the insurance coverage expires. I am going to check further into qualification for VA facilities.

The overall experience is fine - we are still struggling with staff finding ways on their own to get her to shower. With the care services, same thing, it takes my mom or I being present to get her to shower and it feels like staff thinks it's easier so they just wait until we show up to attempt. They say they "prompt" her but she refuses. It is frustrating.

Friendly atmosphere- front desk person (name removed) very helpful. Aides were very nice to mom. Dining with mom was very nice experience as well as food was great. Laundry person (name removed) was so helpful.

I love living here, I feel valued and appreciated for what I have done to make this place a home. "Comforts of Home." Flowers, etc. friendliness.

My mother-in-law loved the assistant living, the staff, the facility and especially the food. The memory center not so much. She is ready and happy to leave

The staff is generally very friendly except for 1 member who is not very patient with my mom. The staff at night don't seem to help much. My mother is at this time can change her clothes by herself, but I don's see them helping her with denture care and sometimes not with her compression stockings. The director of the program is very nice as well as the nurses, most aids, and the activity directors are very kind and patient and caring.

Our family member enjoyed living there but moved in February of this year to South Carolina just a couple miles from our house. I would recommend this community to other families. It was smaller than where she lives now and we actually prefer the new place and its grounds. However, when we were looking, it far surpassed other local facilities we visited who had immediate availability. It was very clean, no foul smells, bright and well decorated. Meals were OK if not outstanding and employees were responsive to her needs.

Unfortunately my mother passed away and did not move into Brookdale. She was there for a respite stay. The staff was great and the facilities were nice and inviting. The experience was good once you got past the sales aspect of the facility.

Ex 2 meals per day, one plus a snack on Sunday. Food..so-so. Value for $ good. What is comparable? Price was the main reason I chose this facility. I may be looking.

I would only recommend the Brookdale Echelon Lake community if they fixed it and it was more clean. It is very rundown and old and there are a lot of mouse traps all over the building.

From the warmth, kindness and experience exhibited by [name removed] at Brookdale to the interest given to not only my moms physical needs but also her emotional needs by [names removed] and the entire staff, we are becoming more comfortable with mom’s situation. Nothing is easy about Alzheimer’s or dementia but with a little compassion and assistance from others we are making it work. I can’t thank Brookdale in Topeka enough.

Across the board I would give Brookdale a 4. The staff is very attentive to my brothers needs and as a result, [name removed] is doing amazingly well. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend Brookdale Harbor Bay to other families.

Been at Brookdale for 2+ months. Very cohesive staff. Nice Director. Separate building for memory care only. Light , bright rooms, no elevator, clean. Her bed always made, and room organized (she can't do it). Good food. She broke hip and can't do anything for herself and they are helping with everything.

I have already recommended Eddy Pond East to someone .By the way, my mother was also at Eddy Pond West, I would also recommend them

The community is very welcoming. The regular staff who have been there since mom moved in, know us all by name, so it feels very engaging. Like everywhere right now, there is increased staff turnover, luckily Mom does not have memory issues, thus she picks up names of new people quite quickly. However, she misses those who have left. We would definitely recommend Brookdale/Avondale on Merrimac to anyone who asked us.

A few things we like most about Brookdale DeLand is that the activities director is awesome and goes beyond to help us stay in touch with mom on FaceTime. Based on the experience we have had so far, I have already recommended this community to others and will continue to do so
