Brookdale

I have shooting sounds outside my window at night. I understand there is a hunting grounds across the way people living in the wooded area. This area was watched at one time not now. I would like to see this area watched again.

The staff has been very caring. Yes I would recommend Brookdale Troy to other families, if it feels like the best match for their loved one.

The size was important. It has more of a home feel. We picked them because they were highly recommend.

There seemed to be more of a community at Brookdale Sleepy Hollow than the other options we looked at. People are often sitting on the porch, someone is working a puzzle in the common room, etc. My mom was lonely and thrives on interactions with others. For the most part, she gets that at Sleepy Hollow. Staff are kind, but often short staffed. My mom is happy there. Sometimes if takes several requests to get something taken care of.

I assume like most of the industry they are having a very hard time getting in maintaining staff. Shortages in aids and even dining room serving personnel are quite evident. All mean well, but much of the junior staff is most disinterested. Finally, my father does not participate in any of the activities likely by choice so I cannot offer a comment on them.

I really like the ability for my mom to be transferred if needed to a higher level of care. I like the options of medical care as needed. I like that Brookdale is monitoring her care but not micromanaging it unless requested to! I do feel as though there are too many different calendars of events within the organization. It confuses the residents.

Overall my mom really enjoys it there. They do have problems keeping and hiring staff. Meals are generally good - however breakfast needs some work. The activities are great and there are lots of them.

There has been a big turnover in two years 4 different directors. [name removed] just left too her own choice. [name removed] nurse had left but thankful she returned. Seems to not have enough staff & are asking more & more of who they have. The facility is homey! Not overwhelming! Kindness, clean & very helpful.

My family member is so happy at Brookdale and that is worth a million dollars to us. They offer total care through Medicaid.

Brookdale Niskayuna is a great location with friendly and knowledgeable staff!

What attracted me to Brookdale Concord, was the friendliness of the staff, especially Blake in admissions. The overall atmosphere of the assisted living building and the memory care building. Last but least, seeing how happy the residents were. In addition, the doctors seemed to really care about that welfare of the patients. They told the time to thoroughly examine the clients, listen to them, and their families. The caregivers did come relatively quickly when there was a need. Most all were kind and helpful. Meals were always good and the variety was nice. The dining room was kept clean and free from food that would end up on the floor. On the other hand, although we had a few unpleasant situations, for the most part we were very happy with the care.

Dad often complains of slow service, long waits for help with the urinal. Some caregivers are very good, others rude and impatient.

The facility itself is well maintained, clean, and smells nice. Everything works as it should. There are nicer facilities out there, but this one is very nice for the price. The staff are courteous and helpful. The top managers seem to run the facility well and hire intelligently. Most food complaints are due to the richness of the food. Simpler and more old fashioned fare would suit the residents better. The activities are basic, Uno and Bingo. Introduce more day trips to local places/stores.

The staff is wonderful and the nurses and care is very good. My mother loves the meals and they are good about letting her eat in her room if she doesn't go to the dining room. Are only negative (and it's kind of big) is that they were rather deceptive when signing the papers. From saying if we signed up for [fee removed] A month for medical care and not go up which was untrue. Also that if she was there for 2 years they would accept her as medicaid. She has been there almost 2 1/2 years now and was running out of money and they're saying she will not necessarily be able to remain there. She is inheriting money and will be able to pay for another year but are decision on where to go and how long her money would last was based on what they told us. They stressed over and over that this what made Brookdale different but it seems was just a lie.

We had to move out because it got way too expensive! It's a nice place, kind of dated just very expensive and they don't tell you how much the payment will be going up with extra care. Also the pharmacy they use is very expensive

I would recommend it. We picked this community because of the proximity to my home allowing me to be there at any hour of the day, multiple times a day if needed.

Love living here love the care and the staff like doing activities like playing cards with my friends and doing special activities and events and i am a andbsdor for the community and for the residents

The floor staff is always friendly. they do seem to turn over on a regular basis. the administrative staff has turned over multiple times since my parents have been there. we have mainly had communication issues with the administrative staff They could improve on the food by following more feedback from the residents, I know they can only do this to an extent but it would help if they threw the residence a bone once in a while based off requests. and the menus can get repetitive.

He needed an actual one bedroom rather than a Studio and I had just had knee replacement so we could look at a limited number of facilities. It was the best we saw.

I have lived here soon to be 5 years and I have received great care. As always there are things done go to well but overall I can't say anything bad, I have enjoyed being able to do as I want.
