Brookdale

I toured this place looking for a place for my dad. I was very impressed by the longevity of the staff (many had been there 20-30 years), the joy and calm I saw on the faces of both staff and residents, and the many signs that residents were truly known and loved here. Offhand sweet comments made to residents by the staff as they went about their duties, a large and detailed veteran display on the wall, and active residents everywhere. The rooms were very large compared to some of the other places I'd looked at, and it's location connected to Century Park and close to Hawthorn mall makes it ideal for active seniors. And though the amenities were not as shiny and new as some other places, everything looked well maintained and I really felt as if this was a place where you'd be part of a family, and not just a number on a room. Sue W. was very open and honest about all the details of this place, and took a lot of time with me to give me an inside look at Brookdale. Will recommend.

Brookdale is a clean, friendly, and overall great place. It's a wonderful place with great food. The people are very nice there. The staff are regulars and have been there a while. I've told a few ladies at the church about Brookdale. I let them know that it has everything they'd need if they decided to leave their home. My loved one has a personal preference of spending a lot of time in her room and coming down for the exercise classes. They offer a lot of different activities for everyone to participate in. They allow pets and her apartment is a studio with plenty of room for her. She has a couple dressers, a chair, a table & chair set, and a kitchenette. I would absolutely recommend Brookdale to other people. In fact, my uncle in Montana lives in a Brookdale community and loves it there as well!

The staff here at Brookdale Olympia West are very helpful. They maintain good communication if they need something. The food looks really good. When we first brought my loved one there, he mentioned he was hungry and they brought out a sandwich. He doesn’t eat much normally, but he ate the entire sandwich. They are very careful of his diabetic diet, and he enjoys eating the food. They have a lot of men, so they’ve created a ‘gentleman's club’ where they do a lot of activities together. There’s an activities area specifically geared towards the interest of the men there. They also have activity boxes, so when family members come to visit we can do stuff with him instead of sitting there talking the entire time. It’s a secure, welcoming community. It smells nice and is very clean. There’s two outdoor courtyard areas, and they take my loved one on walks outside. He loves the outdoors and used to hike, so he appreciates the outside time. They also take them to events and outings outside of the community; just the other day they went for coffee. He wasn’t able to experience any of those things at his previous community. There’s a nurses station as soon as you walk in, you can stop and chat with them. There’s an onsite doctor as well, this eliminates the need for us to come pick him up and transport him to any appointments. They actually visited his previous community and performed an assessment before they accepted him. This was big for us because we didn’t have to come pick him up and take him over. [Name removed], the executive director, she was fantastic to work with. [Name removed] was very helpful as well. At first, we were indecisive of Brookdale and she called to offer insight or provide information on other communities. She emphasized that we did not have to choose Brookdale, she just wanted to help us find a good fit. She had a very helpful and non-pushy approach. Overall, the difference has been night and day. It’s been a great experience.

I would highly recommend this community. The staff were great with me as well as my loved one. They have activities like bingo, arts and crafts and more for the residents to stay busy and active in the community. The tour was great and I was able to get all of the information that I needed. Brookdale Southside has been wonderful and really working with me every which way they can. Everybody has been super friendly, I cannot wait to move in. I will have a one bedroom apartment with a bedroom and living room combined. I have a washer and dryer inside the unit, a nice sized kitchen and a screened in porch. Everybody has been super friendly so far, and they have all kinds of things going on. They bring in tons of live brands for the residents - it is just a really lively group of people. They are pet friendly and really family orientated.

I chose Brookdale Jones Farm because the apartment was larger and it was less expensive. The washers and dryers are inside of the unit. It is located in a convenient area and I still drive and that works out well. Everyone has been very friendly and the variety of activities that are offered are quite nice for a newcomer to choose from and see what you like. I have really enjoyed that. The dining room is lovely we have cloths and napkins for every meal and the dining staff is nice. The food is good, it just takes some getting used to the whole experience. I would absolutely recommend them to others looking.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a really good tour experience

I liked this community and the staff however, the rooms were very small. I was trying to figure out how her items would fit and they just wouldn't, I liked the feeling and it was nice and beautifully kept but it just did not work. There was also another community that was closer to me and would make it easier to get to my loved one that I was interested in.

The staff do a wonderful job keeping the community clean and when it comes to their overall friendliness they get a five plus. The reason our loved one has settled in so nicely is because of the staff, we are very impressed with everything they do over there. They have given us our life back and give us that peace of mind. Overall our loved one is pretty pleased with the meals but he especially enjoys the desserts. He does play bingo, but he enjoys their outside are where he can walk around. It is very nice. They also take them out on their bus on different scenic routes.

The staff at this community are phenomenal. We have been nothing but pleased and I would love to get my hands on a review for a place for mom. Brookdale we have been very pleased here, this has been a wonderful experience and can not say enough good things about them.Our whole family through this experience has been pleased.

We have nothing but good things to say about all of the Brookdale communities. This was a great tour and we were able to get all of the information that we needed.

Very impressed with professionalism and friendliness of the staff every time I visit! Residents are all very happy! Would highly recommend this community for anyone looking for senior living!

the sales staff you have to watch because they'll tell you anything you want to hear to get you in; but I am very happy with Brookdale now that we are here. we're just working on a few promises that were made and we're unsure if they'll follow through on those. the atmosphere is very bright, whereas some communities are dark and gloomy. they have high ceilings, with lots of windows and natural lighting. it is rather expensive as well. one thing that stands out to me is every time I bring my mom back from a visit, the staff comes up to her, call hers by her name and mentions how glad they are to see her. they'll ask her if she had a nice day/outing; they're very personable. the activities aren't that great. they do have bus trips, bingo, gardening and that's about all I know of. they could add more entertainment that's not just tv. the food seems okay and the memory care unit is all on one floor. the area is locked and very safe. I would recommend Brookdale to others.

I highly recommend Brookdale, and would advise others to take a look and check it out. they've been great for us; we especially like the friendliness of the people and the care they have provided for my mother.

They're' always open to hearing what you have to say and what needs to be changed for your loved one - their likes and dislikes. They seem to remember the things that are important to my mom. They're just super friendly, and they take the time to get to know her. I haven't encountered anything they've said that doesn't happen. It's a nice, pleasant, comfortable environment. They seem to have a nice variety of activities. It's kind pf pricey, but still a good value And my mom is happy there, which speaks volumes to us.
